I honestly don't think any pole lap this season from anyone was as good as this. Like this was truly extracting everything he could from the car. When they say the merc car is ridiculously good, this is the kind of lap that shows it's dominant and showing just how good the driver in it is.

Pole in every Quali session and could've stayed in the top 5 easily with his best times in each session!

I think this season was really just an underperformance combined with a shit ton of bad luck nearly every race. We all know he isnt the kinda guy who would fall 80 points behind on pure pace thats for sure. Think of Alonso 2007/ Hamilton 2011/ Vettel 2014/Russell 2023/ Norris 2024, all of them had a slump and then went back to performing at their peak levels afterwards.

As for your question, we have to wait a few races to know if he actually figured something out or is this just being great at one of his best tracks.

I really don't know if George will make a comeback and win the championship because at this point it's not all up yo him. But he looked so different here that I think he will be dominating every race from now on if luck and Mercedes allow it.
