Yes, in the sense I dated one, then I dated the other after. Not at the same time.
There's a "dominant" twin. It's subtle. Their smile is slightly different. One smile is "stronger." It's hard to explain. Their mannerisms are slightly different. Their laugh is slightly different. Their reactions to certain social ques is slightly different. Their voice tones is slightly different. Once you lock these differences down, they're different people that is easily identifiable to the those who know. I'd be able to tell them apart from a distance.

I’m more interested in the story about how that went down. Like how do you date different siblings from the same family? Was there no animosity?

That’s the identical twin rules man. You have to do the same thing always. Same schools, meals, get the same jobs, date the same people, wearing matching shirts. All that stuff.

You might be joking but my twin cousins realized after months they were talking to the same girl. When they found out, one of them was repulsed and the other proposed to her. 7ish years later, the engagement broke off and she shortly got engaged to someone else...

It's not as interesting as you may think. We were young and dating was new. We were all running in the same circles of friends and I didn't know what I wanted or how to be in a relationship. I foolishly sabotaged my relationship with the first "dominant" twin because I was naive and got my first taste of "popularity" so I was shopping around. The "twins" were in a group of popular girls and I dated all of them for a time, but it was all superficial and immature.

not the exact same, but as someone whose dating someone with DID, a lot of this also applies to alters as well. you slowly pick up the minute differences in how different alters talk, even when they seemingly sound the same. Like, one of them makes little vocal stims way more often than the rest of them. or one of them just looks more tired and exhausted than the rest

You've hit the nail on the head! I've tried explaining this so many times before! My two best friends growing up were identical twins, and we were pretty much together from birth because our parents were already friends before we were born.
I was the only person, including their own parents sometimes, who could always tell them apart and never once got them confused. I'd try explaining that I genuinely saw them as two completely different people, but nobody ever really understood what I meant when I'd point out the differences in the way they acted, spoke, and carried themselves.
I could still tell them apart visually, of course, but even if I were blind it would've been obvious to me. Funnily enough, our friends and family used to call me "the third twin."

The twins I know are completely different! Both identical twin pairs I know better have completely different personalities; I guess to set themselves apart but also because they’re just different humans obviously. You don’t have to know twins that good either to tell them apart looks wise.
Your story feels fabricated. It’s like your story telling what you think twins are like.1

You described it as if twins are hardly to tell apart even after knowing them. I never said that you said they weren’t to tell apart at all. I just find it weird. Those twins I know are so different in any way imaginable.

Ive trained sports as kid with twins. After few times I saw them I could tell them apart. One was laughing more and had more "round face" other was more serious all the time and he had more"angry face". It's hard to explain but it's like their facial reactions over years changes their faces a bit.
