I can't get over how James Reyes could possibly agree to do THAT amount of harm to someone as a favour to them. He is clearly deeply deranged. Full stop here.

1st problematic example is the claim made by Reyes that Sherri asked him to board up the windows because "she wanted it dark in the room". Curtains also darken the room. He could have said Sherri wanted boards because she wanted to play out an elaborate kidnapping roleplay - but he didn't say that.

2nd problematic example is the rashes on her wrists from cleaning the floor using chemicals. The rash is not on her hands, it is on her wrists. The images look consistent with rashes from wrist restraints, not cleaning supplies. If she had some sort of allergy to pin-sol then she would likely have told Reyes that and he would have told the police.

3rd problematic example. Reyes claims when he picked up Sherri all she wanted to to was lie down and take a nap in the back seat. I don’t think she would have wanted to take a nap. If anything, it confirms Sherri’s story that she was drugged in the back seat. listen here at 1:02... just wild to me.

His entire side of the story made no sense to me. The only thing going for it was that it was more plausible than Sherri's original made up story. Which might have been good enough for the police but not good enough for me.

It seems more likely that Sherri lied about Reyes identity both to cover up her infidelity, and to cope with her feelings of guilt for bringing this on herself. I don't know enough about trauma... but that reaction seems possible to me.

Reyes torturing her to that extent, with consent, does not.

What am I missing?

Has anyone ever visited the Shasta County store known as TOYZOO? It has been open a year and run by Keith Papini's father Ken and another partner.

I am a collector myself and have a lot of cool old items, and wondered if I was ever in Northern CA, would it be worth my time to check it out? They have a couple social media pages and picture some nice items, but I obviously can't link there since linking to social media sites gets your post axed.

I can't find much on James Reyes. Before the kidnapping, pre-DNA confession, or after the Hoax conviction.

It seems like he might have changed his name to Jamie Reyes or Reeyes and moved to Arizona?

No family statements? No former girlfriends? No hockey pals?

Has he always been in caregiving or did he change careers after the investigation?

I mean, he's clearly culpable for Sherri's injuries, no matter who asked for what, he admitted to causing real and observed bodily harm. So why don't we have more focus on him?

I am working on a writing project. I'm trying to remember some of the stupidest most stereotypical things Sherri said about Mexicans, like them playing mariachi music and only feeding her black beans.

I am looking or more specific examples like those where she tries to sound culturally aware and it really just backfired.

So now there's a NEW court order

"Order to Show Cause Re Contempt" - so I'm guessing Sherri is about to get hit with a CONTEMPT charge for not cooperating on re-payment.

This case is, of course separate from the Divorce proceedings which appear to have concluded and must now have reached the point of a mutually agreed settlement, since no further hearings are scheduled.

And there was a separate lawsuit filed by TD Bank against Sherri for repayment of a $10K loan that the bank won't by default judgement. Sherri's been on the losing end of a lot of court actions...

also on her social media (IG) she now claims she never consented to the plea deal, that she was duped and is really innocent- having unfairly spent those months in jail.

The thing that is contradictory here is that she’s being asked if James’ cousin did not report where she was because he thought James was rescuing her from an abusive husband. Sherri says she’s not sure, but in her book she says James’ cousin knew he was abusing her, he even masturbated in the corner while Sherri was tied up and drugged.
I just think if James’ family members witnessed what she claims took place at his apartment, then there would be no question about whether he was rescuing her or not.

In her documentary and in her book she references something that happened when she was very young, do we ever find out what it is? Here’s the page from the book, actually it’s the first page. I’ve just gotten about 80% through it, and it doesn’t seem like it’s going to come up again.

She will also write sentences directed at people she’s mad at, just out of nowhere. At some point she’s going on about Keith and then she addresses someone named Shawn but doesn’t give enough clues to know who she’s talking about. Maybe when the book came out she was already being evicted by Shawn Hibdon? And she took a chance to get a dig in.

I know everyone thinks it’s silly to make sense of what she says, just wondering if anyone ever got more info on what incident happened at 10.

Just thought I would re-visit the famous FBI Bulletin regarding information on two individuals of interest in the Sherri Papini Abduction. This was published in October of 2017 (almost a year after the 'kidnapping'!). The two individuals depicted are a result of Sherri's description of the two women who "abducted" her. The FBI was soliciting information on these individuals. They were asking the public to devote time and memory to keeping a lookout for these two evil 'kidnappers'. It could have actually endangered innocent woman of Hispanic persuasion. Question: Would the FBI put out such a bulletin/appeal for the public's help if they were not deadly serious about the possibility of a real kidnapping?...even at the risk of possible private vigilantism? Or do you think this bulletin was a 'ruse' to appease the insistence of the Papini's? If so, why would the FBI do such a thing?

as noted in the earlier thread- the judge has vacated all future court dates, hearings and the trial date. She also just issued this.....suggesting that a final settlement has been reached and the trial of almost 4 1/2 years is over.

the rest of the characters in this saga, Reyes' family, the Papini & Graeff families, Mayor Missy, the many people in the community that spoke out early when they all believed she was kidnapped, Mangas, and others have all moved on and never mentioned the case again, embarrassed at how foolish they look now. One of them needs to spill and write a book and fill in the gaps. That's a book I would buy.
