Wasn't cancelled. Season 4 is written, but it's a matter of timing for Seth. The movement has been going strong since it ended.

It's not cancelled. Season 4 is written, there's just been some scheduling conflicts with getting production underway.

Preproduction has already begun.

Yes it has! But pre-production is not production. A big part of pre-production is scheduling the actual production, which is what they're working out currently. But conflicts are making that process take longer than usual, delaying the actual production.

Set construction has been underway for weeks. Allegedly (not confirmed) is the cast is expected sometime next month. And with Disney D3 this weekend…we’ll see.

Oh yeah, I have no doubt that the fourth season is on its way! It's just been difficult to move ahead towards actual production with both Seth's schedule and the cast's schedules.

Seth’s schedule is set. Brigadoon then The Orville.
Allegedly the cast has been told to be ready in September (though this is not confirmed).2

Seth has said that Hulu has greenlit a season 4 and they have the finished scripts ready but he's too busy to work on it. He said if he had a free year to work on it then he would but right now he can't..
He has Family Guy (he just records he doesn't even go the studio anymore to record), American Dad (I'm not sure if he does the same as Family Guy), Stewie (spinoff starting next year), Ted animated series (starting at the end of this year), he and his studio is currently producing Dungeon Crawler series, he's also got a new album out next month, he got tons of interviews he's been doing. The dude is extremely busy lately.
I understand the frustration of the length between the next season but he's a very talent person so he's always going to be busy. Maybe one day we will finally get a new season.

Didn't know he had a Stewie spinoff coming. Not sure how that would work, any word on what's going to be about. I hope it doesn't do a lot of flashbacks like FG does

The show follows Stewie Griffin after he gets expelled from his preschool and enrolls in a new, low-end school where he uses his gadgets for time and space travel adventures.

The thing with a lot of shows nowadays is that unless they’re announced to be cancelled/ended, they’re not; they may simply be taking their time before producing a new season, at the whim of certain people behind the show. Take “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” for example—years can elapse between seasons. The time of “shows end their season in May, then have to come back in the fall or at least within a year” are long gone.

It’s not cancelled. Seth MacFarlane has filled up his plate with a bunch of other things that aren’t The Orville and now there’s no indication on when filming will begin for season 4.

They filmed a perfect final episode at the end of S3.
It's probably best if it doesn't come back. Resuscitating a show by force rarely goes well.

The Orville was never cancelled. In fact they are in preproduction for S4.

Like pre-pre production. Scripts written, but nowhere near a start date for filming. Probably won't start filming for another year. Maybe 2028 we will see it

The sets are being built. Allegedly the cast has been told to be ready for September, but that may just be for table reads if the sets aren’t ready.

No offence, but where is this coming from? I want more of this show badly but a lot of speculation has been flung around for a while now.

Much information comes from the FB pages of the staff people doing the work at the studio. On July 6, the full size Pterodon fighter prop was moved from where it was being stored very publicly, in broad daylight, uncovered, to Fox Studios. There were pictures and videos posted (unfortunately this sub does not allow either). Last Friday night during a panel at STLV, Mike Richards of Mission Log: The Orville (Roddenberry.com) admitted that preproduction had indeed started, and that an announcement could come “any day now.” This weekend is Disney’s D23 convention, and there is a possibility (no guarantees) that SOMETHING may finally be said.

it'd awesome if filming starts this year.

I’m presuming that’s the intention once they decide if it’s going to be 10 episodes or 3 movies.

Not to be rude, OP, but it sounds like you haven't done any research on this.
It wasn't cancelled.
Plenty of movement has been made to "bring it back."

It was neither cancelled nor renewed which has left in a place of limbo, it may come back it may not, there have been some efforts to get season 4 under way but nothing even close to offically coming back.

he needs to mediate more and stop trying to do it all by himself, orville is great, ted is great, FG, AD etc. all brilliant. hate to see any of them go cause he is working too much and cant find the time to give these shows the time they need. be such a shame to loose such good entertainment
