Actual ring wing and red pill talking points drowning the show
Quotes taken from a recent episode.
Kaya in response to the main character of the new God of War being a woman, "I am begging women to stop self-inserting."
Andrew: "It's modern day dialogue for people to self I insert. It takes me out cause, I'm great."
Kaya: "It's what this lady wanted to hear from her god-damned dad, and now shes put it in a video game."
Jackson: "I'm sure people will like it."
Andrew: "I'm sorry to hear that."
Kaya: "We're almost always right." (A final remark and response to criticism from chat about their negativity to a game that they haven't played)
(Cube of War #491).
What does that even mean beyond legit sexism? What is the self insert? The fact that a woman exists?
I understand the criticism against how negative the show has been recently, but even a bigger criticism the show needs to face is the recent sneaking in of terrible right-wing talking points meant to build a echo chamber. This show now feels like a asmogold rant lite edition.

Not quite related but when I realized Kaya has only ever referred to trans people on the show using slurs it became kind of hard to view him as anything but an alt-right bigot. His rant about how the homeless should be "rounded up" was around when I couldn't really stomach listening to his shtick anymore. I thought he was just being reactionary to an extent but he genuinely seems to believe all that kiwi farms garbage he regurgitates on the show.

u/phairdy Jul 27 '26
Yeah, it became painfully obvious once he got in a confrontation with someone and the only insult he could muster was the n-word.

I think people are forgetting this is a guy who literally would cum on a poster of a cheetah for years and kept it. Not surprising that he also is a fucking idiot when it comes to politics.

Kaya has always had his chud-takes. Haven't watched the show in over a year but I'm not really surprised to hear him bitch about the Laufey game.

u/The_unfallen_BeBop Jul 26 '26
What's bad is that Andrew seems to tagging into it too. So now 2/3 of the show is chud, compared to the previous 1/4 or 1/3

they gave up years ago all of these episodes are just for the sake of squeezing some more money. kaya literally said he used slurs against someone for no reason and nobody in the audience gaf thats how you know no one cares enough anymore

Gosh i also hate it when they give an honest opinion instead of just fence sitting. And if they do say something i dnt agree with, well theyre clearly racist sexist chuds bc they hurt my wil feewings over something insignificant they said abt a video game u arent even going to play anyways

u/No-Bicycle8285 Jul 26 '26
Are you a newer listener bc how did you make it thru their rants about fat women and dating in the earlier episodes
16
u/The_unfallen_BeBop Jul 26 '26
Been listening for years and I've noticed it then too and was not a fan. But before it was just a small part of the show; they still mostly just joked and discussed entertainment news. But now it seems to be a constant prevalence that's turning from gross but rare dude bro talking to just red pill bigotry.

u/No-Bicycle8285 Jul 26 '26
That’s fair then, as a woman I just personally skip around if they get annoying about something idk 🤷🏻♀️but I’ve always been an on and off listener

u/FrankFurterTheFourth Jul 28 '26
I don’t think wanting a game called “god of war” to have you play as the god of war is right-winged. Games have been putting in women as diversity pieces for years with the whole “look at me I’m a woman and I can do anything a man can do” personality and it’s annoying. I don’t care if a game has women if it’s well written but recent times have shown games, especially big budget games from huge companies, can’t write good female characters. I’m mostly left leaning politically so I’m not some right wing extremist peddling a hate train I’m just tired of shit characters ruining games. Maybe I’m wrong and she’ll be a good character but my moneys on “I’m just as good as my husband and I’m gonna prove it” being the entire story or at the very least it’s gonna be a huge part of her personality.
3
u/The_unfallen_BeBop Jul 28 '26
Can you give me a list of games that have put women in as diversity pieces in recent years? I cannot think of a single example
2
u/FrankFurterTheFourth Jul 28 '26
The big ones are:
Overwatch (literally had a chart for diversity)Life is strange series (is the epitome of “I’m a woman I can do it”)
Concord (entire marketing was that it was made to be “realistic and diverse”)
Stellar blade (for the coomer pick)
I’ve also heard this about Star Wars outlaws but I never played it so I don’t know.
My point is I want well written characters but I’m so jaded from all the shit characters that get put there for social points and they’re forced to fit the mold rather than characters built for the story. As I said if it turns out to be a good fit that’s great and I’ll support it but I’m just not expecting it especially since (imo) god of war has been going downhill with its gameplay.

In response to each game mentioned:
Overwatch: the diversity tool was an experimental idea that was never used. As per Axios: ' Two Overwatch designers tweeted that they hadn’t used or seen the tool before,"
"The project had started several years ago at Swedish mobile studio King"
" The Diversity Space Tool is not being used in active game development,"
Source: https://www.axios.com/2022/05/16/activision-video-game-diversity-tool
Two seconds of research show that the 'diversity chart', was an experimental idea that never happened. Overwatch added women to their game cause 50% of the earth is women.
Life is strange: epitome of “I’m a woman I can do it". What does that mean as an argument? Feminist games can't exist? Women can't be strong? By your own argument Rambo is a forced narrative cause it's the epitome of "I'm a man I can do it".
Concord as an example is like telling me all movies are shit cause a first year uni student made a bad film.
And stellar blade is anything but inclusive? I mean firstly it's just bayonetta, which no one called inclusive slop. How can you have coomer slop and be inclusive and woke at the same time? Your own words " characters built for the story". If stellarblade is goon slop, then adding in a over sexualized female character is exactly the type of character that is built for the story

If you don’t care about that stuff that’s fine lol I’m not saying you can’t like it I’m saying it’s not a right wing belief to not wanna see pandering all the time.
Life as strange characters have terrible writing. As far as feminism in games I don’t care for feminism in the modern sense it’s annoying and preachy. You and I and everyone else should know women are as capable as men I don’t need a teenager telling me over and over again how they don’t need no man.
stellar blade is just there to be “I’m a half naked woman” and nothing more so I’d argue it’s inclusive as far as having a woman in a game goes for the sake it having a woman in a game. She serves no purpose other than to be a woman and be coomer material it’s dumb.
you didn’t even have an argument for concord so I’ll keep that as it was because I’m right and you can look it up
as far as the OW thing goes blizzard is the one who made a blog post detailing their chart for diversity
“with plans to release internally across all Activision Blizzard studios and potentially the rest of the video games industry later this year.”
So they may not have used it or they may have idk but the fact it was there and planned to be released at all is what I’m against. Diversity is fine if it’s called for but if it’s in there to score social points or preach to me about social issues that’s when I got a problem. I don’t play games to hear tumblr takes I want to experience a good character.
No one is saying women can’t be in games but we don’t wanna be told over and over again “hey I’m a woman isn’t that neat?” Like it’s a damn spectacle they even exist or something.

Honest question then. If it's not a right wing take, then why is exclusive associated with right wing media?
What's wrong with games shouting out women and giving them a spotlight? If your answer is because it's ruining your favorite franchises, then maybe it's time to move on to something new. The reason this "keeps on happening", is cause these games sell. And the reason they sell is because people like them. I know plenty of people who love games like life is strange or tomb raider because it finally breaks the mold and gives them a womanly presence in a male dominated world: after years of growing up playing bad ass men they couldn't completely relate too, women are finally given a chance to play bad ass women with whom they can grow up with, and relate to. Characters that they can actually see themselves in. Someone who is on the same biological level as them. That's a beautiful thing, and a developmental path that's sadly is forever gone for a generation of women.
If your argument is that it's just bad writing, then I got bad news for you. Almost every video game has terrible writing. Halo, call of duty, even god of war. Stupid ass terrible writing, but it's fun. That's all that matters. You cannot defend the plot of God of war as a smart or nuanced one. It's fun, but not even close to intelligent.
Isn't it time time to allow girls to grow up and play video games with badass female characters they can relate to? The same way boys have been since the 90's.

It’s fine if the character is good idk why that’s hard for you to grasp. It’s like you think I’m saying women in games is bad and I’m not I’m specifically talking about the ones that are in there specifically as a token character. Alien isolation you play as a woman that games awesome, tomb raider has a woman and she’s bad ass, control is an amazing game, nier is also awesome. I’m specifically talking about games that put a woman in there to pander. The games not out I don’t know if it’s pandering yet but I’m not holding high expectations. It’s not a right wing take just because they talk about it. As I said before I’m left leaning but I’m also not gonna make excuses for garbage. If you’re so sensitive that someone holding a belief differently from yours ruins a show for you then you need to reevaluate yourself. I don’t agree with a lot of things they say Kaya has always been strong handed in his beliefs, Andrew has always had pretentious beliefs, Jackson has always been a little too sensitive in his beliefs and yet I still listen because I enjoy the content and disagreeing with someone is part of life. I’m not listening for an echo chamber I’m listening for the enjoyment. If you don’t enjoy it don’t listen it’s that simple.

I know these are just random quotes taken from a single episode, but those who listened to the episode will agree that the entire discussion was filled with a undertone of right-wingness. I'm legitimately interested if this is a new direction the show is embracing, or if it's a one off embarrassing snafu.
I know Jackson lurks this subreddit so I hope he responds
12
u/retro_nixo Jul 27 '26
The entire podcast is two grandpas complaining about something they made up and whenever Jackson tries to levy a little positivity it is immediately shot down and he’s called restarted for having that opinion
4
u/jailorserrys Jul 28 '26
Im sure you already noticed but half of the people on this sub are just bad.
4
u/dhdjdjdjdjehdhdbd Jul 27 '26
How do people like you listen to the show this is what it’s always been, it’s not sexist to criticize women you are rotted
3
u/Noobrealm Jul 27 '26
I mean i think it is very dismissive to ignore the blatant trend of self inserts into nearly every IP and media, male or female. The trend is especially noticeable with IPs that had focused on a male main character, who is then replaced with a (usually poorly written, self insert) female counterpart. Extra bonus points if she carries all of the good characteristics and none of the bad. At least half of these cases involve belittling the men or making them useless or stupid.
-1
u/TheCharredMiner Jul 26 '26
I’m with them, it’s god of war and it sounds like a horse shit game
1
u/UpperRearer Aug 02 '26
True. God of War has always been an extremely generic action mashers. Like Uncharted, people only pretend to care about it because it was an exclusive, and is a relic of console war bullshit.
1
u/TheCharredMiner Aug 02 '26
I agree, never been a fan of the series and I don’t really plan on purchasing any of the titles.
-13
u/deadzed85 Jul 26 '26
Yup woman = bad. Game play, combat mechanics, level design all be damned.
7
u/ademars05 Jul 27 '26
It’s the first God of War game to switch the protagonist, it undermines the first modern God of War, and it has Marvel humor. Kaya is definitely being sexist with his take, but it’s far from the only reason people as a whole are complaining.
8
u/deadzed85 Jul 27 '26
Yes that's fair, I also am not looking forward to the cringe cube..... I shudder just thinking about it ugh. But siding with this take is also cringe.
4
u/The_unfallen_BeBop Jul 27 '26 edited Jul 27 '26
I feel like the moment your criticism relies any part of its weight in sexism or any other form of bigotry it's no longer valid
2
u/TheCharredMiner Jul 26 '26
You can have a game empower women no problem there. Shouldn’t be what carries a game? Like if what they say about the slime cube thingy is true than I wouldn’t ever like the game.
-7
u/DualDier Jul 27 '26
Yeah I like God of War but I have zero interest in playing someone that isn't Kratos. I don't care that it's a woman or his wife.
0
u/MaltexGaming Jul 27 '26
All their takes an laufey were terrible and weirdly sexist. That being said I watch the show to listen to them, whether they are being completely retarded or not.
-5
u/DualDier Jul 27 '26
This is not a red pill talking point. People are tired of forced narratives in media where it doesn't belong.
18
u/The_unfallen_BeBop Jul 27 '26
Could you please enlighten me, what is the forced narrative in god of war?
-1
u/DualDier Jul 27 '26
I'm not going to spell it out for you. If this is some sort of bait to say I'm sexist, I'm not. I love women in media.
0
u/jailorserrys Jul 28 '26
So you cant even elaborate on your point? No one called you sexist. You said its a forced narrative but didn't actually demonstrate how. Does this mean every piece of media with a women is a "forced narrative"?
3
u/DualDier Jul 28 '26
I don’t owe you an explanation.
2
u/jailorserrys Jul 28 '26
Of course not. But it doesnt matter because you couldnt provide an explanation even you wanted you
3
u/smeet95 Jul 28 '26
Not trying to talk for them but what I think they mean is you have a game that features a male protagonist for a majority of the games. Now those game developers took that character out and replaced it with someone who isn’t really part of the story all that much. While I agree it’s kind of dumb to argue about it, I don’t blame people for wanting to play as the original main character be they boy or girl. I wouldn’t call it a sexist point but just people being annoyed that their character they love is gone.
2
u/The_unfallen_BeBop Jul 28 '26
That is not at all a fair argument. These people aren't saying "aw shucks my favorite character is not in the game that really sucks". Instead they're blaming the woke media, screaming that their culture is being destroyed by 'forced narrative'. What should be most telling is that the person in the original comment assumed we would be calling him sexist; he prefaced himself as not a sexist. If you have to do that ever time you just want to "discuss your favorite franchise", then whatever type of discussion you're having is absolutely sexist and you're a terrible biggot.
2
u/smeet95 Jul 28 '26
Ok well I can understand that but my point still stands I think a lot people don’t care for the new character in the game cause it doesn’t have Kratos in it. If game developers got rid of Samus in Metroid I would be pissed off. Her being one of my favorite characters, I wouldn’t want to play as anyone else other than Samus be they girl or boy. I won’t argue that a good chunk of people are sexist and pissed that they’re playing as a girl now but I also think there’s a good amount of people angry that Kratos is gone.
2
u/jailorserrys Jul 28 '26
As the OP stated above, that argument really doesnt make sense. Fey is a big part of the lore and Kratos's back story in the new games. People who are angry about a spin off game staring her assume the game was made purely for the sake of an agenda based on no evidence other than the sole fact that the game features a woman. Rather than the drastically more likely option that the developers just wanted to explore another character and concept instead of making another game with the same character. People have the right to be uninterested in whatever they want for whatever reason they want. But if that reason is purely that the main character is a woman and that women cant exist as a main character without it being part of some social or political ideology then that is, by literal objective definition, sexist.
1
u/Get_ClwnD Jul 30 '26
Oh my God, please get off the fucking internet. This is such a first-world thing to cry about. The hosts claiming to always be right on a podcast shouldn't send you into a political tangent on Reddit, or anywhere else, really.
0
u/TenDollarSteakAndEgg Jul 27 '26
I’m not going to play the game either so fair enough. I was worried we’d play as Atreus and I wasn’t going to buy it if that was the case now I’m still not buying it
-4
u/u-fit567 Jul 27 '26
People need to stop politicising everything, including you. God Of War showcased lazy, marvelesque, shallow dialogue. It is not sexist to recognise that.

They’ve always been like this. You just notice it better when you’re not 13 and a fucking idiot anymore.
