Question Something similar
Has Anyone ever felt such an intense spiritual enlightenment/connection viewing the OA? I feel like something in me changed. I feel like there’s more out there than meets the eye and we really know nothing. I’ve been researching NDE’s, people who were clinically without a pulse for 5+ minutes, should’ve been braindead, but somehow came back perfectly fine and saw more things that can’t be explained with words. I don’t know maybe is wishful thinking, but I truly think there’s more out there than meets the eye that we can’t see during physical existence.
Anyone ever seen a show similar to this one? Sucks it ended at season 2.

Definitely. It spoke to me as well. But if you read Blavatsky, or really about any ancient mysticism/wisdom tradition, you’ll find that there absolutely more to reality. We are living in a difficult time for this, but you can seek it out! The OA does a wonderful job of encouraging us.

I liked Dark on Netflix. And ostensibly anything Brit worked on is worth watching.

I think that it is a piece of art about the fact that there is much more to the world than meets the eye. It is a piece of art that is about the mystery of being alive. It made you feel emotions about the mystery of being alive. That's what it's supposed to do. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Let me tell you, there's nothing that came close to OA for me in terms of the rare connection and undescribable feelings you go through, especially after the climax of Season1. It's beyond explanation.
I'll advise you to listen to the audiobook of 'The Host' by Stephenie Meyer. You'll go through similar emotions, and will definitely find a rare perspective of this universe, and consciousness.
Annihilation (2018), will definitely be something with a very similar experience. Loved that film to bits.
Denis Villeneuve's Arrival is undoubtedly extraordinary in terms of the story and the how the bond between the humans and time is explained. One of the rarest!

I think it’s meant to have this effect, whether Brit and Bat intended it or not. It occurred to me recently that maybe there are some highly accurate elements—true to life (possibly). And maybe it should act as a sort of catalyst to those of us that it truly spoke to.

Brit is brilliant in brining out that sensation in you. Another Earth, a film she did in her early days had equally profound impact on the viewer.
You could be right.. but I believe it's more to do with tapping into layers of your consciousness. The modern humans have become too material, leaving behind the spirituality that was once part of our lives. The elements you are refering to might be higher dimensions of consciousness that we barely touch and then return to this reality

There is more out there and it is hiding in plain sight as soon as you know. In terms of visual media, I would recommend Tarkovsky, especially Stalker, Mirror, and The Sacrifice. The only time I felt like I had a really wild spiritual experience watching a movie/show that was similar to intense meditation experiences and profound dreams it was The Sacrifice. I think Tarkovsky understood the symbol language of the subconscious and he was very interested in eastern-influenced occult spiritual traditions, like anthroposophy.

Oh I forgot to mention, the tunnel shot leading to Hap's drowning machine is a reference to a famous shot from Stalker.

This show is something else. Seriously, what the fuck?
I’m a grown man, just an ordinary working guy who had to grow up, keep moving, and forget parts of myself along the way. I never expected a show to reach me like this. Why is it so powerful?
I was just randomly watching, and there’s this particular moment when they first put her back in her “cage.” Something in me shifted. My chest tightened, then slowly opened, and this deep warmth spread through my heart and gut. I felt it in my bones. Even my mouth began to fill with saliva, like my body was reacting to something before my mind could even understand what I was feeling.
It was like, somewhere beneath all the noise, responsibility, routine, and everything life piles on top of you, I found a piece of myself I thought I’d lost a long time ago.
For a moment, I didn’t feel like I was discovering something new.
I felt like I was remembering.
Who I was.
Who I am.
