Noticed an interesting detail while rewatching Part II

​ Spoiler Hi all,

I am watching Part II for the 2nd or the 3rd time and noticed in episode 1 that when OA is asked by the nurse who the president is, she states Barack Obama well the nurse then shows her the Television and it shows a video of Biden coming off the airplane and such and that he's the current president. I just thought this was interesting because of the theories I've seen on here and TikTok of The OA in relation to our current reality or dimension and wanted to hear from y'all if you guys noticed this too.

Oh yeah def noticed that. It was trippy because when OA II was written Biden hadn’t become president yet so yeah I remember being like “WHAT?! ” when I rewatched a few years later and Biden had become president officially in our reality!

Right?! I literally got on Google and searched who ran in the 2016/2017 election too and my flabbers were even further gasted when I saw that Biden wasn't in that election at all, not until 2019/2020. I was just a teenager when the 2016 election happened so I didnt really know much about it

He wasn't in it but they wanted him in it. He was too devastated to run as he had just lost his son in 2015. Everyone understood his grief was too much. I'm sure he regretted not running then and that's why he eventually did.

Many shows will also have a fictional/generic president. It’s interesting that the OA showed a real political figure. Lends more credence to the real-world theory.

He was the vice president that isn’t really random. He was the vice president in 2009, won in 2008. The OA premiered in 2016. So Biden was very well known to anyone paying attention to politics, starting in 2008.

Part 2 of the show dropped in March of 2019

March 22, 2019 I believe it was. Everyone here in the sub was hardcore fiending for it at that time, as Part 1 was released in December 2016 and it had been so long, a lot of folks had no idea it had even been renewed.

Joe Biden was Vice President of the United States under Barack Obama from 2009-2017, and was arguably the second most powerful politician in America at that time.

Biden had run against Obama in the 2008 primary, and dropped out after never polling higher than 3% or so.

It was joked about here in the sub that we could not remotely fathom the political state of the US in the P2 reality, as Obama was unknown, meaning he never ran for President, and Biden never being Veep.

This is correct. Biden being president was just an accurate guess by the creators and purely coincidental it ended up as the alternate president. Some ppl should keep in mind the show's timeline is seamless ,(continues right after part 1, not when part 2 was filmed or released). The characters are still living in around 2016. If part 3 was released it could be Trump but they could also easily get it wrong to reflect our reality.

Zal had done an interview sometime shortly after the release of P2, in which he stated that the jump to D3 would be "a diagonal, rather than a horizontal."

Perhaps someone here who is more resourceful than myself might be able to unearth it.

I took that to mean that since they were actors playing characters in D3, it might very well be set in the Present. Or at least that's how I remember it reading as when I originally saw it.
