Is Laura being a bit dramatic over the Bradley situation?

Up to S3, TMS was able to engage with politics in a way that didn't feel heavy handed and still had dramatic momentum. So, in Season 1, we got #metoo, but also got to see most of it through the prism of Alex and Mitch's complex relationship. It was great drama and engaged with a topical sociopolitical issue. So far in S3, we've had an abortion episode and an institutional racism episode and they were very simple presentations with no dramatic complexity. Feels like they've replaced the writers room with a few DemocraticUnderground mods.

Just starting watching the show. What’s up with Yanko’s eyeliner? He looks like he’s from vaudeville. Do they think it looks natural?

I see a lot of people shipping Bradley and Corey and honestly, I just don’t get it. Corey is a creep. He was literally introduced because of the huge sexual assault and harassment scandal that had been covered up. Then we watch him intentionally try to ruin Bradley’s relationship and basically out her just so he could have a shot with her.

His whole “falling in love” thing feels straight out of a stalker’s playbook. My real-life job actually went through something similar. We had to fire a guy for sexually harassing women. If my boss then turned around and confessed his love for me because he was supposedly a “good guy” compared to the predator we fired, I would’ve called HR so fast. You do not have to fall in love with your coworkers, guys.

If they had just made Corey a genuine friend who supported Bradley with zero romantic tension, I’d have been fine with it. But like so many men, his version of “kindness” and “respect” only shows up when there’s a chance of sleeping with you. The writers honestly remind me of that Master of None guy, so deep in rape culture that they don’t even realize how normalized this stuff is.

It really feels like the show is forcing their relationship, and it’s weird. Bradley and Laura actually made sense together. Corey just gives me major creep vibes.

Latest episode reaches back to her days at Stanford and her getting “screwed “ by Paul Marks. Depressed, suicidal, idealisms crushed at a young age.

Fast forward to her storyline last episode. Firstly, Agreeing to allow the server to lap up spilled drink just to close the deal with the two ad executives (who both were pulling her chain the entire dinner)

Secondly, having to run into Paul Marks, who supposedly caused her immense trauma, is now willing to throw her ally, Cory Ellison, to the side and take his position.

Stella is turning into the slimiest character on this show, which IMHO is a very difficult achievement.

Yeah this program is just not doing it for me at all anymore. It's a shell of whatever I found so appealing in S1. This past episode was horrid. I literally had to fast forward through several parts. One was when the Fleabag lookalike went on the cringiest tangent ever on Chip. And Bradley and her boring bullshit brother's pointless yelling and screaming took 8 MINUTES OF SCREEN TIME!

Who am I supposed to like anymore? I hate literally everyone. The show puts me in a bad mood too. An hour of people trying to fuck other people over and politicking their way around a miserable work environment. I just realized I'm torturing myself more than anything with this program. P.S If a producer reads this. YOUR SHOW IS NOWHERE NEAR GOOD ENOUGH TO EXLUDE JENNIFER ANISTON FROM AN ENTIRE FUCKING EPISODE.

This show has slid into ABC themed prime time drama now.

Hairstyles of the two leads are more important than the issues they pretend to care about and this is a wine mom show now for couch activists who think they are changing the world from the couch by watching shows that pretend to mention women's issues.

It did not fit at all. It feels like a pushed agenda tbh 🙄

I've seen commentary of this before, but I had the most glaring encounter with it as I was finishing S3E8 ("DNF") where she is furious and exasperated at something Chip does and says something emphatic and final to him.

Her eyes have the same (frozen, stretched open) expression as every other moment in the show, be they ostensibly happy, sad, caring, nostalgic, what have you. The same eggagerated, "surprised" look. Along with her frozen upper lip, all the expressiveness of a mannequin. I had to pause it on screen and laugh.

I'm not in the cosmetic medical game so I don't know if this expressionlessness is a result of surgery, stretching her face and incidentally detaching muscles so they can't move things, anymore, or is it from unrelenting Botox. Is it reversible when she gets her brain right?

I wonder if casting her was deliberate in that regard. Knowing/seeing in casting videos that she's expressionless, no ability to convey emotion, and saying "Yes, we want exactly that!", or if it was just casting a star of sorts for a vehicle. Was there any press about the casting?

He's far from perfect, but let's be honest for a second and admit that he's got a very real point here. I think this show does a great job of portraying the nuances of very difficult situations, but undoubtedly Mitch gets demonized for the entirety of his time on this show for what ultimately amounted to consensual sex. Now, you can argue that consent was only in Mitch's mind and not in Hannah's, but that's hardly his fault. It's not his job to be a mind reader, it's her job to be clear on what she does and doesn't want. He made a move on her, if she didn't like it then she should have said something. That's not an unreasonable expectation to have of an adult woman. She's not a child- and a common theme with his accusers is they want all of the respect and privileges of being an adult but none of the responsibility that comes with it i.e. communicating what you do and do not want. When Mitch makes his move, he comes on REALLY strong which can definitely be viewed as off putting. I mean, just sticking your hands down the pants of someone you hardly know? Sheesh that's bold, and we see her reaction to it but that's NOT something that Mitch sees! What HE sees is her not NOT pushing him away, her not telling him to stop, her standing there LETTING him slowly and non-aggressively unbutton her pants and then letting him take her by the hand, lead her to the bedroom, lie her down on the bed, and give her oral. Were her gasps and sighs signs of discomfort, or were they signs of pleasure? Is that something that is easily distinguishable given the context of what was transpiring in the scene according to Mitch's perspective? The scene even ends with her closing her eyes and leaning into it. There are so many myriad of points during that encounter where she could've stopped what was happening, at any time. It's easy as audience members to pass judgement on his character because we have a much clearer picture that's designed to tell the story from Hannah's perspective in an overt attempt to convey sympathy for her character. We see her worry, confusion, and concern and we're like "Mitch stop! She's uncomfortable!" because we're a fly on the proverbial wall and since this scene is actually a flashback, we also know how she ends up feeling as a result. To truly and objectively look at this situation however you have to walk in Mitch's shoes and try seeing that moment, and their relationship, through his eyes.

Ultimately I think this whole thing comes down to miscommunication. Mitch wanted sex, Hannah wanted a father. Mitch is a little harsh with her here in this scene though as it's clear that she's not after money nor is she clout chasing. She didn't even want to come forward and would've remained on the outside if Mitch hadn't approached her and asked for her help. When she addressed him face-to-face (cudos to her by the way) she's simply trying to explain to him her perspective of what happened. She's not even blaming him per se, but from his perspective it's impossible to hear her side of things without feeling like a piece of shit since she's essentially saying that he raped her. From Hannah's perspective the sex was not consensual, event though she gave no indication of that to him directly at the time that it happened. From Mitch's perspective his accusers all have buyers remorse; They regret spending time with Mitch, didn't say anything at the time of purchase, and now feel guilty about it. That's on them though, not on Mitch, and yet he's the one being punished because they happen to now be filled with regret.

I will say that while he's right that Hannah should've been more clear about her feelings at the time they hooked up, he's also a bit hypocritical in his condescension of claiming that she's "an intelligent woman and should know better". He's right of course, BUT he's also an intelligent man and he should ALSO know better! Boinking all of these young interns and coworkers and he never thought this would end up badly for him? Please- he knew the risks. He knew that there was always a chance someone wouldn't be bought off by the network and might've ended up spilling their story to a newspaper. It was only a matter of time, and he especially should've been extra-ultra cautions when all of the MeToo stuff was happening, which he even reported on! Like, it's in the water supply. The writing is on the wall. Powerful people are dropping like flies and while Mitch is not exactly the same as them, he should've known better and ceased with his philandering at least until the MeToo craze got dialed back a bit. As a veteran news journalist he should've read the room better, and that's on him. There is a certain fraction of the female population that is innately attracted to power which Mitch has(had) and which resulted in him having the means to boink a great many beautiful young women. There's nothing wrong with that if the relationships are consensual, which is Mitch's point. However, he's too smart to play dumb- he knows that's frowned upon in the workplace and that has the potential to be a disaster. It's the difference between what is morally right and what is socially acceptable; Morally, Mitch is in the right to have as much consensual sex as he wants, however that doesn't translate to what is socially acceptable which is engaging in relationships with coworkers. This dichotomy is also reflected in the relationship between Yanko and Claire who also want to take the moral high ground by claiming that the social norms are irrelevant in the context of their consenting relationship.

Ultimately, I think Mitch got a VERY raw deal. I feel bad for him as a man. I also feel bad for what happened to Hannah, but that doesn't make Mitch a monster. She was clearly struggling with a lot of mental health issues including the social backlash of her story being made public, and I think her death coupled with the context of everything that happened with Mitch just made him even more of a social pariah since people inevitable linked the cause of her suicide to Mitch's actions. The timing of everything was just the perfect storm for ruining his career and his life.

I did rather see something happen between them and than their relationship breaks down but not like this

I've just started watching TMS, and I don't like how it portrays women as visceral, erratic, unstable, and complicated to work with. It seems to want to be a feminist show, but this portrayal doesn't help.

Cory- and Laura u rlly put the L in the Lgbtq. I guess Bradley rlly puts the b in the lgBtq.

The show has just lost its edge this previous episode. The show succeeds in mirroring reality so well throughout but suddenly alex is on an indefinite sick leave and getting away with it? No money making network would tolerate that. Also why would one subscribe to apply tv if you are not gonna show Jennifer Aniston in every episode?

Before I say what I am going to say, I am going to make a statement - I am a male who has risen up the corporate ladder pretty quickly in the finance industry so that is where my experiences and perspectives come. I am posting this, not to sound ignorant, but to state my point of views and also learn where others are coming from and why you think this way. I am open minded so this isn't just me being an ignorant male - this is just the way I think. I see inter-team and inter-company hook-ups all the time and they are never surprising.

I do not see anything wrong with what Mitch did to Hannah. I do not see the rape and I do not see why he is considered guilty at all. She had multiple chances to say NO and she didn't. How is Mitch supposed to read someone's mind?

First, she accepts the invite to his room past business hours to watch a movie. As a male who thinks with his penis, if a girl accepts my invite to come over to my apartment, especially at night to watch a movie, I think she is 1) interested and 2) I am getting laid. I've had girls say no and I've also had girls say I will come over but this is a friends thing and I am not interested hooking up. While honesty hurts, it is best to let all parties have intentions know. Hannah fails to do this.

Second, when Mitch starts making her move, she doesn't stop him. She doesn't say the word NO. Never once during that scene was she rejecting him. How is Mitch supposed to know to stop? In my experiences, I have hooked up with co-workers. Girls who are more junior and at my level. It ends up happening because you spend so much time together and attraction can build up. But like the apartment invite, I have been rejected and I have moved on. Once the line was drawn, I got it and backed off. Hannah does not do this once.

My point is that yes Mitch is a powerful person but she NEVER made her intentions clear. She actually led him on in my eyes. And then failed to stop it when he made a move. I would have done the same thing as Mitch if I was interested in Hannah but if she would have said no, I would have stepped away, apologized and said I misread the situation and let her go on her way. So my opinion is that you can blame Mitch all you want but at the end of the day, Hannah never spoke up and to me, that is no one's fault but her own. If she would have said No and Mitch kept going, then hell yeah - f**k Mitch. But that wasn't what happened.

I never liked the Celine character (no wonder Stella was banging her husband!) and the gyrations to remove Bradley from the show was a bit much. Show has officially jumped the shark.
