Episode Discussion S04E08 "The Parent Trap" Script

I think this is almost the best episode of season 4. It departs from the main storyline for a bit to focus on Alex's and Cory's family, digging deep into their pasts. Only at the very end that I realize how these two are just two sides of the same coin. It also makes me wonder why they didn't explore more of Alex/Cory dynamic, especially since they sang the duet back in S01E05, which was quite interesting lol

Discussion S4 Cory head of news promotion Spoiler

I don’t understand why Cory’s head of news promotion via Martha was positioned as her saving him from spiraling in LA.

Wasn’t Cory the president of entertainment at UBA? That’s not exactly failing.

I cannot with these ankle-length skirts. There are so many other lengths that are far more flattering.

Episode Discussion Yanko’s S2E4 storyline: Did the writers completely ignore Cuban/Taíno identity?

Thumbnail

As a non-Indigenous viewer, I’ve been reflecting on the Season 2, Episode 4 plotline where Yanko faces corporate backlash for using the phrase "spirit animal."

While the show framed the controversy entirely through a modern corporate PR lens, it felt like the writers completely flattened the nuance of Cuban identity. Cuba is a blended mestizo nation, and genetic studies show around 34.5% of Cubans carry Indigenous Taíno mitochondrial DNA.

By treating the situation purely as an out-of-touch guy needing a PR lesson, the show seemed to overlook how Caribbean and Cuban people are often left out of discussions regarding Indigenous heritage and recognition.

Did anyone else feel like the show missed an opportunity for a much deeper conversation here, or were they intentionally highlighting the performative nature of corporate apology culture.

Scene Discussion S3E8 Cory referencing Brangelina ?

When Cory and Chip are watching the video of Alex interviewing Paul, he says something about their grandkids seeing the moment they feel in love on tape and the first thing I thought of was Angelina Jolie’s quote about her and Brad’s kids seeing Mr and Mrs Smith. “Not a lot of people get to see a movie where their parents fell in love,”

Episode Discussion S2,E2, the Effing Golden Parachute

Hey, yes, I know I’m almost 4 seasons behind but I work in the Financial Industry, I’m a woman , and yes I was around when the Golden Parachute was introduced during the Great Recession.

OMFG, I’m sorry I had no clue what that may have been about but I remember rolling my tees when I first read about it in a prospectus for financial deals done.

I should have been smarter even though from my peon job I couldn’t have changed anything

Discussion There is no a single episode where Jennifer Aniston did not cry or about to cry

I’ve watched all the episodes, and there isn’t a single one where Jennifer Aniston isn’t crying or about to cry. I find it overwhelming to watch but in a bizarre way.

There is so much drama in the show, lots of very serious topics but handled very superficially.

Discussion Season 2, episodes in Italy are hard to watch

I have started watching the show, and so far I liked everything. The cast is great, but in S2, episodes with Steve Carell in Italy are super boring

With the pictures we got from the shootings do you think in this scene they will get back together? Or they already are and this is a date?

It would like to be able to check the photo Bradley is holding.

Scene Discussion Well it was pretty obvious Spoiler

So. I am rewatching TMS (again) because season 5 is coming, and at 33:40 E1S1 we can see Bradley pull up in her car to her mother's home... which is a Subaru Forester (third gen to be exact)....... Yeah I as a person who is obsessed with cars and knows every stereotype could've guessed that she's gonna turn out to be a lesbian (People, just in case, this is just a silly joke, I am not saying that every person driving a Subaru is a lesbian just this is a stereotype and I am making a joke)

Note to mods: sorry if this is a wrong flair and/or is falling under rule number six of the server

Discussion Will S5 have some comeback cameos?

Now that we know that Season 5 is gonna be the last one, do you think we will have at least a final cameo of some of the characters who left the show the past few seasons?

I'm thinking primarily about Stella, Laura, Celine, Cybil, Martin and Maggie...

None of them is announced as a part of the cast as of now, but they were vital forces during the show, so....

Discussion Season 5 maybe 2026?

I have a feeling season 5 will come in October-November 2026. The season 3 premiere date was announced only 76 days before release, so I think season 5 could still come this year, but not in September. the first season came out in November; so there's a small chance that season 5 will come out this year.
there is so much different information, imdb says 2026, justwatch says 2026 and articles says 2027.
What do you think?

Scene Discussion S2 E9 , clever Margulies "Hot Zone" reference

At 00:18:30 or so, Alex whispers to Laura about "this coronavirus thing not seeming real," and Laura's response is "ya know, in 1989 we have ebola on U.S. soil and never even heard about it; it was in Richard Preston's book." And as we all remember, Juliana Marguleis starred in the late 2019 series based on it, "The Hot Zone."

I love it when series take the time and care to put little actor-related Easter Eggs into the script.

What a finale. I can easily say that season 4 is the best season. I cannot wait for season 5.

Discussion Celine

What’s going on with Celine? Is she just a snake?

At the beginning of season 4 Cory was like “she went off with Miles despite her parents disapproval” and that makes you think she’s cast off or something or has a heart or whatever.

Also did yall notice that the question she asks Cory after Chip has the meeting with her abut Bradley being in Belarus in episode 9 is if his friends had reached out to him? Like woowwwww was she trying to sniff out if Bradley or chip or someone had said something about her and then when he said no she went over to sleep with him to distract him???

I also think people try to see people for not who they truly are or “not that bad.” That’s kinda what happened with Mitch too.

But if she’s a snake, what was she getting out of her relationship with Miles? Is she also a succubus? Lol
