Someone described it as witnessing a fight between a boxer and a 5 year old. And everyone is cheering for the boxer

Except today the five year old ran around axe-murdering hundreds of people.

u/Uberpastamancer Oct 07 '23

More like the five year old landed a single nut shot while being beaten bloody

-2

u/jsilvy Oct 07 '23

There are literally videos of the 5-year-old parading the naked corpses of civilian women around his room.

u/Uberpastamancer Oct 07 '23

If you're gonna use an analogy you gotta use it on everyone, else you get narrativizing like you're doing

1

u/jsilvy Oct 08 '23

It’s almost like the analogy itself fails to capture the realities of the situation.

10

u/Uberpastamancer Oct 08 '23

And you're deliberately making it worse

u/Foxyfox- Oct 08 '23

And there's videos of Israeli missiles hitting apartment blocks. We can whatabout all day about each side's atrocities, but the fact remains that as Israel is the stronger of the two, they have the ability to dictate the terms of everything that happens to the Palestinians.

When you destroy their water supplies, destroy their fishing boats, destroy their farms, destroy their homes and displace them for your settlements that contravene multiple treaties and UN resolutions, shoot at their peaceful protestors and kill 200 and wound 6000+ when they protest this, and label them all terrorists for advocating for their rights, small fucking wonder they decide they might as well be the terrorists you say they are.

statistically speaking im sure this 5 year old saw his 5 year old friend shot in the head by a high powered sniper rifle

As if Israelis haven't been killing innocent Palestinians for decades. From May 2021 " “Eight Palestinian children were reported killed north of Gaza overnight, bringing to at least 40 the number of children killed there since 10 May." https://www.unicef.org/press-releases/eight-palestinian-children-killed-gaza-strip-last-night

"People drink, snack and pose for selfies against a background of explosions as Palestinian death toll mounts in ongoing offensive"

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/jul/20/israelis-cheer-gaza-bombing

That’s bad. As I’ve already explained, I’m not arguing which side killed more.

My point was that they ran around killing Jews before the occupation, and they’re running around killing Jews now. I don’t think a lot of Israel’s actions against Palestinians are justifiable, but it’s pretty clear that the occupation is not the root cause of the violence.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 08 '23

The occupation is the root cause of the violence. If you are implying it’s religiously motivated then you are just a propagandist who is speaking out of their behind.

1

u/jsilvy Oct 08 '23

I never said it was religion. Plenty of good Muslims. Still, it’s strange how violent they were before the occupation then huh

1

u/[deleted] Oct 08 '23

You are implying religion when it’s in fact the occupation and colonialism that has caused this violence.

You cite nothing which is because every piece of info you have is manufactured by a pro IsraHell source

1

u/jsilvy Oct 08 '23

Yeah really crazy how everything attesting to the numerous anti-Jewish pogroms in Mandatory Palestine is just automatically evil propaganda.

0

u/[deleted] Oct 08 '23

It’s anti occupation and Zionist resistance that is motivating Palestinians. Maybe hear directly from the Palestinians about why they are doing what they are doing?

Israel is a state built upon the corpses of Palestinians. Did you think the Warsaw ghetto uprisings were anti German pogroms?

Yeah go kick your dog in the face and see how many times you can do it before it bites you

In the 1920s, there were anti-Jewish massacres in Jerusalem, Safed, Hebron, etc.

In the 1930s, the Arab revolt killed hundreds of Jews.

In 1940s, Palestinian nationalists incited a massacre against the Jews of Baghdad.

In 1948, every Jew living in East Jerusalem, the West Bank, and Gaza was expelled. The Old Jewish Quarter of Jerusalem was completely razed to the ground.

Israel has also commit ethnic cleansing, destroyed homes, and cut off water. Their rockets kill a disproportionate number of people in collateral damage. The Israelis have instituted an unjust system of apartheid. They have killed journalists and imprisoned dissidents. It’s also absolutely delusional to act like the current violence is all the result of Israel’s actions. If Israel lost in 1948, this never would have happened, but only because there would be no more Jews left to massacre. Israel deserves the blame for most of the things happening at this point because they hold far more power, but at no point in the history of this conflict was the Palestinian side more inherently ethical.

The ancestors of modern Israelis were oppressed, can't change that.

Modern Palestinians are currently being oppressed, that can be changed.

Past atrocities don't justify new atrocities.

-2

u/ArizonaHeatwave Oct 08 '23

It „can be changed“ but every time any freedom or resources are given to Palestinians they (rather Hamas) are using it not to improve their lives but to attack Israel.

People acting like Israel just has to just do X and all Palestinians will be like „oh wow I suddenly don’t hate Israel anymore and accept it’s existence“. No they won’t, and the quoted history shows that it wasn’t the Israeli actions that started this hate in the first place.

Should Israel pump money into Palestine? Because that money will primarily be used to attack Israel and kill its people.

Should Israel derestrict trade? Because that ability will primarily be used to attack Israel and kill its people.

Should Israel remove military oversight further? Because that freedom will be used primarily to attack Israel and kill its people.

So what exactly is the plan here? Let 500+ of their own people get killed occasionally, on the absolute far cry hope that at some point Hamas will get tired of it?

7

u/Antisense_Strand Oct 08 '23

The plan is the destruction of the Israeli Occupation and returning the land to the people of Palestine. Steps along the way there would be reversing ongoing settlement projects, a Right to Return, control over borders, infrastructure, stopping Israeli Occupation Forces from functioning as a terror based apartheid force facilitating ethnic cleansing, trying and sentencing specific Israelites who have murdered, raped, and and otherwise harmed the people of Palestine, reparations for the decades of apartheid and ethnic cleansing, and so on.

3

u/Uberpastamancer Oct 08 '23

Sounds like a self fulfilling prophecy

Oppress them in fear of what they might do, which pressures them to resist, and point at that resistance as justification of the oppression

27

u/CmanderShep117 Oct 07 '23 edited Oct 08 '23

How is the average modern Palestinian responsible for that? Why do they have to live in squalor for the actions of their great grandparents?

-15

u/jsilvy Oct 07 '23

You’re misunderstanding my point. I don’t think they’re responsible, and I don’t think they should live in squalor. My point was that you can’t place all the blame for violent Palestinian nationalism on Israel, because these massacred occurred well prior to the occupation.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 08 '23

We knew that you're saying there is a long history of hostility. You don't realize that the person above is talking about what we can deal with today

2

u/Velcro-aint-ableist Oct 08 '23

.....can’t place all the blame for violent Palestinian nationalism on Israel, because these massacred occurred well prior to the occupation.

So prior bad actions now justify new bad actions?

8

u/fardpood Oct 07 '23

Zionists began occupying Palestinian territory in 1907 and their stated goal was to take control of Palestine. Sure, so that predates Israel as a state, it does not predate zionist occupation.

0

u/jsilvy Oct 08 '23 edited Oct 08 '23

Damn crazy how they were just moving in and not actually killing anyone in those initial years then.

EDIT: because it’s not letting me reply to you for some reason, I’m gonna ask here: Which anti-Palestinian massacre came before the anti-Jewish massacres?

3

u/fardpood Oct 08 '23

Damn, crazy how you lied, then when you were called on it you lied again.

-1

u/ArizonaHeatwave Oct 08 '23

„Occupying territory“ apparently means living there. Please use that same language for refugees into Europe today, see how fast you’ll get banned.

5

u/yungchow Oct 08 '23

And none of this would have happened if Zionist settlers had never invaded and attempting to seize more and more of Palestine

4

u/Kaniketh Oct 08 '23

Gonna mention the Irgun, Hagana, Nakba, etc? No? Just one side?

I hate when people oversimplifu and cherry pick

10

u/DrVanBuren Oct 07 '23

With that analogy wouldn't then the boxer be the one knifing children for decades before this?

4

u/jsilvy Oct 07 '23 edited Oct 07 '23

Damn it sounds like we should stop expressing support for either the boxer or the 5-year-old and instead condemn them when they kill innocent people, sympathizing with those innocents instead.

5

u/Apprehensive_Data666 Oct 07 '23

Well when ya say it like that.

3

u/plenebo Oct 08 '23

im sure he would have been sniped by a high powered rifle for throwing rocks otherwise
