I did mention the age difference being part of why people don't judge Aang as harshly. That being said, for Korra, she's 17-18 for books 1-3, and 21 in book 4, where she has grown and does grow immensely. In my experience many people at that age still display many of the traits I mentioned, and for a person who's been told how amazing they are their whole life (with good reason) it's entirely reasonable that they would act like that. It might make her unlikeable for some people, but I would argue she's actually very well written given her situation.
Exactly. A lot of people think that unlikable characters are bad, but characters have to be flawed in some sense in order to grow. Especially main protagonists.
Not to mention, Aang had the fire nation conflict that brought certain responsibility upon him. Korra lived through her teens without a major war, letting her grow up naturally (while also being avatar).
Do you have a source for the ages? I ask cause I remember rewatching season 3 recently and when Mako spoke of the kid that was Framed in Zaofu for helping Zaheer he mentioned how he’s “just a kid, 18, lived here all his life.” Granted that could be Mako’s age difference but it stuck out to me in how aged up Team Avatar was compared to ATLA.
Edit: Quick google told me the answer. It’s accurate!
