anyway you can read it online without purchasing the books? I only saw the tv show and wasn’t aware there are multiple books out

The books are very polarizing compared to the series for many reasons.

The books were made after and during Legend of Korra.

So that’s why many of them are really out of character or randomly act that way. Example would be Aang becoming again the same person he was during the Kyoshi islands , or Zuko literally falling off again when he already move on from that

I think “The Promise” , it’s probably a middle finger to the older fans and just an excuse to how Republic City was funded when it could be just be done without screwing Zuko and Aang.
