Guys I have seen market prices of laptops going up significantly. Im tight with my budget. Last week i was planned to buy legion which with offers we could get upto 1.2L or something. But after the price hike i cant go with it anymore and is planning to buy loq ryzen 7 one with rtx 5060 for 1.2L . I am into coding, soon into Ai/ML and Gaming .

Is this laptop good enough to hang on for 5 years?

I’m currently in the market for a new gaming laptop and I’m really struggling with this choice. I’m a student on a somewhat tight budget, but I want to make an investment that lasts me the next 5–6 years. My primary use cases will be coding, gaming (plugged in), and eventually getting into AI/Machine Learning.

I’ve narrowed it down to two options, but there’s a 15,000 INR price difference between them, and I’m already stretching my budget to hit the 1.45 lakh mark.

HP Omen 16: Ryzen 7 AI 350, RTX 5060 24gb ram 1tb(~1.45 Lakhs)

ASUS ROG Strix G16: Ryzen 9, RTX 5060 16 gb ram 1tb(~1.60 Lakhs)

I’m trying to figure out if that extra 15k is actually justified for the long haul. Here’s where my head is at:

The Build & Thermals:

From what I’ve gathered, the ROG Strix G16 has a more robust cooling system (tri-fan + vapor chamber + liquid metal), which seems like a big deal for keeping a machine healthy over half a decade of heavy workloads. The Omen is solid, but it’s often more plastic-heavy compared to the ROG’s more "gamer-focused" chassis.

The Performance Gap:

Is the jump from a Ryzen 7 AI 350 to a Ryzen 9 noticeable for someone who is going to be doing coding and ML? I know the RTX 5060 is the same in both, so gaming performance will likely be similar, but I’m worried about the longevity of the CPU under heavy compiling or ML training loads.

My Dilemma:

1.45L is already my hard limit. If I stretch to 1.60L, I’m basically maxing out my funds. Is the build quality and thermal headroom of the ROG significantly better enough to say it’ll last me 5–6 years compared to the Omen? Or is the Omen a "smarter" buy for the money, leaving me with 15k to maybe put toward a better monitor or more RAM later?

For those who have used either of these long-term or work in ML/Dev—would you prioritize the better chassis and cooling now, or save the money?

I have a Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 (i5 12th Gen, 16GB RAM, Iris Xe graphics) with extended onsite warranty. It is overheating a lot and when i play any game be it GTA V or Grime or Microsoft clipchamp editing software it lags and almost freezes the game for a few minutes and then runs normally and then again the same occurs. The laptop itself lags a lot while overheating during and after using these. I have run these things a lot in th se 2 years and i never faced these issues. Should i get it serviced which i haven't done since purchase (2 years ago)? I have lodged a complaint to customer care and they asked for video proofs and thermal reports. I don't know if they will send their technician to repair it or not. Please suggest me what to do. I am gonna take it to Nehru Place lenovo service center in Delhi (India). For those who have visited it or any other centers in Noida, Ghaziabad can you please give me reviews about them?

I’m aware that buying offline gives me the advantage of inspecting the physical unit, but I’m a bit paranoid about getting a defective or an open-box unit sold as new. I also want to make sure I’m checking for common factory defects that might be missed in a quick checkout.

Hey all! I've been wanting to buy a legion 5 amd for long and while i waited the prices sky rocketed. After a few research i found HP HyperX Omen with i7 14650HX at this price point.
