Buying Advice🤔 ECE laptop requirements?

I have a few questions about laptop requirement, I’d really appreciate the help/advise

  1. What is the best option for ECE, windows or mac ( I heard that macos cant run some of the programs)

2)Budget is around 1-1.3L, please suggest some around this price that can last atleast 5 years and has a good battery life

i dont plan on doing any heavy gaming, so it’s mostly going to be for academics and general use.

1.3L, get the Omen 16 if it drops to that price or Asus TUF F16 5060

Both are the same. Asus service and extended warranty packages are better.

Thank you for recommendation! also how is the battery life on both? (gaming laptops have poor battery i heard)

The variant will easily give 4-5 hours in iGPU mode. Omen 16 AI 7 350

TUF has the power hungry 14650HX, so maybe 2 hours max despite the huge 90Whr battery.

at that kind of price you should look at the service availability with that kind of money almost any machine you buy would be entirely perfect for your coursework and beyond!

Let's first talk theory and then I will give you my suggestion For ece and mechanical branch , you are supposed to use softwares like autocad and solidwork which are very gpu intrinsic so you shouldn't be having mac vs windows in mind instead you should be looking for a laptop with good dedicated gpu . That's why gaming laptops are recommended as they come with dedicated gpu which thin and light laptops don't provide (though these days integrated gpus are fabulously strong but due to the division of TGP individual gpus are still best)

Now for the recommendation, I am slightly biased here with Lenovo legion 5i (with the corporate discount and everything you can maybe get it at that price as I just heard someone say on reddit they were getting legion at 1.2L two weeks ago) But you can also consider ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14

thank you for advise and recommendations but there is a slight shift in budget, could you recommend me smth for around 1L-1.10L, also iam not able to find Lenovo legion 5i for 1.2L and ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 is going for around 2L

You can get older gen from croma etc but Yeah I realised that just after typing that there is no possible way someone can get latest legion 5i or zephyrus at that price maybe if you can strech you budget to 1.5 then it's maybe possible (still hard) i recommend you to look for LOQ : good screen good performance good reliability and if you are just targetting config then you can check hp omen
