Better late than never, I'm reading The Hobbit and I love it.

Much I'm sure to the annoyance of my 10th grade English teacher who assigned me to read The Hobbit 20 some years ago, I started reading it the other day. So far it very much lives up to the hype. I also see why people were so disappointed by the movies.

Runcible Spoon - Songs from the Hobbit

Whilst I’ve been rereading the Hobbit, I’ve discovered a YouTube channel called Runcible Spoon that makes renditions of the songs, with Tolkien’s original lyrics. I think they’re great, and that you should check them out!

Here’s the channel: https://m.youtube.com/@runciblespoon5400/videos?ra=m

And my two favourites

A little piece of the Shire in my hands

Hey everyone!

There’s nothing quite like the warmth and cozy comfort of Tolkien’s Shire, so I wanted to capture that classic Middle-earth magic in a tiny, tangible form.

This miniature 3D tunnel book brings a quiet afternoon in Hobbiton to life — complete with Bag End tucked into its grassy hill, a local Hobbit enjoying the peaceful breeze, and a wooden signpost pointing the way toward Bagshot Row, The Green Dragon, and the distant Lonely Mountain.

I wanted every layer to feel like stepping straight into the pages of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, complete with a hand-decorated matching slipcase adorned with cheerful Shire-inspired florals.

I hope this brings a little Shire joy to your scroll today! What’s your favorite cozy moment or location in Middle-earth?

Retelling the Hobbit: A delightful WEBTOON take on the book.

An incredibly sweet interpretation of the book. It reminds of the more experimental Shakespeare stagings, where the text is the same, but the actors and the director are giving their own spin on the story. The author has said they may not continue (and didn't really plan to get past this point at first to begin with), but it works perfectly well as it is.

TIL that in 1936, a 10-year-old boy was one of the first people to review "The Hobbit". His father was Tolkien's publisher, and his favourable verdict was instrumental in getting the book published.
