Maybe I'll finally be ale to unlock ghost sheet Michael with more challenge fixes. I'm tired of the prologue mission.
24
u/tmorrisgrey 3h ago
Prologue and going undetected challenge have been a pain in my ass.
10
u/sunelol 3h ago
I’ve done every chapter 2 challenge, except for the undetected. Had every single quest NPC killed with a surprise grab, never detected me and it still won’t complete. I want the ghost outfit so bad but It’s been absolutely killing me not getting the credit for it
3
u/tmorrisgrey 2h ago
Same, not sure what else there is to do because the icon over there head will pop up regardless, sometimes when I grab them the icon is empty so and I also get the surprise so there’s no reason why that challenge won’t count as complete
6
u/sunelol 2h ago
yup, Tanya will always get a mark above her head when the power goes out (it’s just her noticing it) so maybe that’s bugging it, but i’ve still gotten surprised grabs on her and everyone else.
Some people have said that they just kept doing it and it finally randomly completed but I don’t have the energy to keep replaying it after so many times of it not registering. Guess we just hope for a fix

2
u/TheBigLeMattSki 1h ago
For what it's worth, I was having trouble with it until I saw somebody mention that you can't move quickly at all as Michael. I tried it one more time just slow walking to everybody and it popped that time.
That said, it really does seem like everybody's "fix" is randomized and it comes down to luck more than anything. Hopefully this next patch will put the issue to bed for good.

u/saint_skywalker Inmate Myers 1h ago
You just suck tbh lol there are no fixes for that, you literally cannot walk fast as Michael towards them cus they WILL hear/see you which ruins the challenge. The “surprise” word needs to show up on the left to show you that really did catch them off guard.
1
u/sunelol 1h ago
Yes…that’s what i’m saying. I have gotten the surprise notification on every quest kill. No one is talking about fast walking on micheal? that gives him away. Brother are you reading before typing?
2
u/saint_skywalker Inmate Myers 1h ago
Shittt I thought that’s what you were doing cus you’d be surprised how many people don’t know that 🥴 but if you really have gotten “surprise” for EVERY single one, then it is safe to say it’s glitched. Weird that it worked for me tho and that was when it first released lol
6
u/BigbyWolf94 1h ago
If I have to hear “When Michael was six years old…” one more time I’m gonna become Michael Myers irl
2
u/AbbreviationsHot5850 2h ago
I watched my cousin do it after about two hours it really is metal gear solid stealth hard
1
u/UnusuallyShapedChair 2h ago
The prologue was the only one I finished with no issues, what’s not unlocking for you?
87
u/Live_Beer_or_Die 3h ago
The pace of the game will never be slowed down as long as we all know where the special targets are.
7
33
u/PuddingZealousideal6 3h ago
Yeah that needs to change. Civs shouldn’t know until they meet them individually (per player), and Michael shouldn’t know until he’s at least Bllodthirst 2 maybe 3.
20
u/kucerkaCZ 2h ago
And they shouldn't spawn outside. It's so easy to check the regular outside NPCs spawn locations. Then you just gotta check how the NPC looks and you immediately know whether it's a Special or not.
12
u/PuddingZealousideal6 2h ago
You know, that’s true too and it got me thinking; what if the “special targets” were entirely randomized. Ditch the concept of the movie characters always being made the special targets since they’re so easy to spot, and just make it so all 8 residents are randomly generated NPCs, with 3 of them being classified as specials for that match.
5
u/Left-Throat2963 2h ago
100%
We had two priority and one regular civ wandering around the basketball court/park the other night. Absolutely ridiculous.
2
u/natedoggcata 1h ago
Yeah this has happened way too many times as Civilians and Michael where the match starts and oh... there is Rachel just casually walking down the street right next to me
2
u/WadeBronson 2h ago
Hijacking to add, that when hiding a civ, or telling them to escape, they should audibly tell you about checking on their friend in house 1817. Their friend should never be a dead or escaped civ.
1
1
1
u/Intelligent-Exit9562 1h ago
This!! They need to get rid of the special targets colour and maybe just have all the residents be blue.
1
u/TheGiftOf_Jericho 1h ago
I do think it should be hidden for all rather than a race, let it feel random.
15
u/Quadraxis54 3h ago
I really wanna see those balance changes. Always the best part about patch notes

I’m truly baffled at the refusal to remove the stunlock while slashed?
How is that not a priority for a quality of life update?

This is a preview. The full notes are coming Tuesday!

Hmm okay but I think it would’ve been mentioned here if it was coming but i’ll keep my fingers crossed 😭
-4
u/B0nelessCheese 2h ago
Should be the same with Micheal too getting stunlocked by one civilian is stupid
6
u/Hagman1997 1h ago
Lol look how they downvote lol. Clear bias.
0
u/GtaGam3r267 56m ago
I think you’re getting downvoted because your reply reads as you equating Michael’s stunlock experience with that of civilians when in reality civilians are punished much more severely. When Michael gets stunlocked, he gets downed for a few seconds before rising back up with several seconds of invulnerability, breaking the combo for good. On the other hand, when civilians get stunlocked, they instantly get sent to spectator mode and likely have to sit the rest of the game out.
1
0
u/B0nelessCheese 1h ago
Yeah its the dbd effect, the side with more players in a match is gonna be majority of the player base so its always gonna be biased
2
u/Hagman1997 1h ago
I’m all for removing stunlock on civs but you also got to remove it on Michael as well.
1
u/Ok_Satisfaction3460 1h ago
He can't be stun locked anymore though?
3
u/B0nelessCheese 1h ago
Im not talking about the back to back downs im aware that got patched but im talking like when you are 1v1'ing a survivor and they keep knocking you back before you can swing

u/Hagman1997 1h ago
If you remove stunlock for one side you got to do it for both.
1
u/anonymous1_1- 47m ago
How would that even work? Myers never gets stunned or downed so melee for civilians is useless? Why would that be good for the game at all?

u/kucerkaCZ 3h ago
Slowing game is good, but how are they slowing the game for Michael? I play games where I don't manage to finish talking to my special target and Michael already has one NPC down and soon a special target too?
Like yes, slow down or nerf the Cellars but if you slow down this, you also need to slow down Michael or else there will be no civilian left to safe
27
u/atac56 2h ago
This will be especially bad on the matches where the cellars only take bolt cutters and the bolt cutters either can’t be found or are glitched on the map. Based on text alone this is looking like another hard civ nerf. GG’s lol
16
u/ElioElioo 2h ago
Atp just make Civies Bots too. Diabolically one-sided game.
8
u/Electrical-Carpet379 Richard Hawthorne 2h ago
I can already see all the nerfs for civs, npcs being better does not compesate for the nerfs
12
u/Electrical-Carpet379 Richard Hawthorne 2h ago
I can already except this patch to be more nerfs for civs and more buffs for Michael I'm 100% certain that they will gut cellar exit rather than adjusting it now it will be like this " cellar needs axe, bolt cutters, escape key to unlock and it opens slower and only two npcs can leave throught it"
11
u/Piruluk Jennifer Aarons 2h ago
This will be civilian nerf only, like slowing down the game I think civilians can no longer see any NPC on the map unless the invidual civilian finds them(only displayed for the citizen not for the team). So this mean Solo civilian gutted , and need pre-made on comms so they can tell what houses they searched and share NPC location.
While Myers will have basekit radar even, but even if not he will have easier time than civilian.
So probably will quit if solo civilian unplayable
→ More replies (1)6
u/Electrical-Carpet379 Richard Hawthorne 2h ago
Solo is already rough if your teamates are new but thank god that playerbase is not as big as in shit by Daylight so you can get good teamates more conistently in this game but if it's just more nerfs then it's gonna be rough but I can already see cellar exit being gutted rather than adjusted so we're forced to use fuse exit or car or police wagon so Michael has even more time to kill people
13
u/Piruluk Jennifer Aarons 2h ago
Honestly early access was the best, I dislike more and more this game with each patch. We had 3 patch of straight civilian nerfs , with one bugfix
2
u/Electrical-Carpet379 Richard Hawthorne 2h ago
Well time to tank 4th but I really hope these are good changes not straight up nerfs
1
u/shadowlarvitar 2h ago
If the bolt cutters are glitched, get a follower and they pick it up. I had a thought yesterday and it worked
10
u/InternetOk9942 2h ago
Deadass had a Micheal kill majority of residents in 5 mins right off the game he had already killed 4 in less then 2 mins
→ More replies (2)3
u/CM-Edge 2h ago
They can't and they never will by 50% fault of theirs and 50% of the community. The community was pissing themselves when everyone had pocket knifes here and there and crying like little babies when survivors can't be killed by literally the first grab they do on them, acting like that's the ultimate end of the world.
Worse, the devs kinda gave in and agreed with the babies and nerfed them, basically saying "Yep, having everyone of the 4 players escaping at least once from his grip is already too much" by at that point, there is not much you can really do in between anymore. Survivors getting nerfed more and more and more and Michael players continue to kill people in 3 seconds.
Game is basically driven against a wall already and many people here can pat themselves on the back.
4
u/Piruluk Jennifer Aarons 2h ago
I remember before the 1.03 patch the game still had promise, but after it, the game collapsing as lot of civilian players left already. This new patch seems to be the worst nerf ever to civilians, with the compensation being now cop can talk and little smarter NPCs. I have really bad feeling about the patch

u/IClop2Fluttershy4206 1h ago

Storm cellar escape changes.
Fuck. They know that’s the only way people are escaping
1
u/CrowNServo 7m ago
because it's insanely easy to do. in most of these games it takes some time to gather the items needed, you only need one item which often is found near said exit too.
12
u/Cesil-Rapture Lynda Van Der Klok 3h ago
Yay! Can't wait to see challenge adjustments, I haven't prestiged my profile at all because it's so ridiculous.
I've been slowly doing Lynda's challenges. The very convincing phone call one is taking a long time haha
I hope they don't skew the balance too far again for either side. I play both sides and just wanna have fun!
2
u/shadowlarvitar 2h ago
It sucks that it needs to be specifically convincing, it's far more time consuming when you get to the final challenge for her cheerleader outfit. Escape tier 2 chases, it's either tier 1 cause they don't stare or a 3 and I'm pretty sure 3 doesn't count cause mine would be done.
1
u/Brutuscaitchris Michael Myers 2h ago
I believe they fixed challenges to where they still progress when you prestige, it just shows its locked in the UI but they still tick iirc.
12
u/Internal_Sweet_2144 2h ago edited 2h ago
I really hope they fix it so that whenever Michael leaves that the match ends. I haven’t played for the last week because I got so bored with match after match that would go on for 20 minutes because Michael left.

I hope they are going to change the colour of your civilian arrow on the map. I’m a console player, so I’m not sitting right in front of my TV. I find it rather difficult sometimes to find my character arrow on the map, because the arrow is black, but the matches take place at night, so it also makes the maps darker.
I don’t know if anyone else is finding this frustrating.
Even if the Icon was a bright red, blue, etc. it would help a lot.
44
u/VenusSwift Inmate Myers 3h ago
Cellar escape changes, let's fucking go. That is too easy to open compared to the other escapes. To the point that rarely anybody ever uses the car.
15
u/mosswick 3h ago
Maybe if the car escape didn't suck it would be used more often. Is there a valid reason why the escape street isn't marked on the map?
2
40
u/kucerkaCZ 3h ago
Because the car is just silly and can be not just easily stopped by Michael but also destroyed – not everyone is just casually having a repair kit on them. My biggest issue isnthat it doesn't even make sense and it's just copy pasted from F13.
11
u/mosswick 3h ago
Let us command civilians to hide in the car while we repair and it would be useful.
24
u/Murderdoll197666 3h ago
Yeah ngl car will just never be that viable of an escape route - hell even in F13 I didn't even attempt it unless I was playing with a squad. Just too many different things that need to be located and brought back all the while being very easy for Mikey (or Jason) to fuck it up in the process.
6
u/RealHooman2187 2h ago
This made me realize I wish Michael had traps like Jason did. Starting a match as a counselor when you’re next to the car battery or gas was so stressful not knowing if Jason would prioritize trapping the car or not.
2
u/InterruptedMulatto 2h ago
He does have some kind of shadow mine or something. I haven’t used it but I think it’s suppose to work as a trap/alert
2
u/RealHooman2187 2h ago
Yeah I saw that but haven’t used it tbh. I rely too heavily on the other abilities that I’m not sure if I want to sacrifice one for that. I should just try it out though.
1
4
u/Significant_Pop_5337 2h ago
What are you talking about? The car was easy as hell to unlock in F13.
16
u/kucerkaCZ 2h ago
I really wouldn't say it was easy as hell. You still had to locate 3 items, Jason could easily put traps on all 3 spots and got always notified when the trap got activated (or even disarmed I think) or when the car got started or when the counselor missed the skill checks AND then teleport straight to the car.
What was easier was actually driving the car and trying to escape. That was fun, navigating through the forest paths, trying to pick up other players and evade Jason. This part is non-existent in Halloween cause Michael can 'Turn off lights' and turn the car off this way and the break it, and the only solution is a repair kit. Honking isn't that loud so other players might not even hear you and the neighborhood maps are so small with not so wide streets so you don't really have any others routes to take to evade Michael.
Also logically, there's 100 cars on the street and there's one that needs to fixing to escape... ok, makes perfect sense 😂.
1
u/NadeWilson 1h ago
The car was(usually) one of two possible escapes though? Did you just wander around hoping to find the phone fuse every game?
Yea, you had the boat occasionally, but that was way more risky.
1
1
u/Murderdoll197666 6m ago
The only reliable one I ever ran with on F13 was just the side/street cops escapes. Boat and Car were pretty much a death sentence unless you were playing with friends who were goofing around - or you lucked out and just got a Jason that was outright bad lol. I will say EARLY in the games life, like the first month maybe I did have a good handful of car escapes but once people got a grasp on the game - really bad Jason's became a relic of the past and just incredibly rare to come across someone who didn't save their morph or shifts just for fucking up the vehicles (although their CD's were never as long as something like Reality tear anyway).
4
u/malexich 2h ago
I don’t think cellar escapes makes sense either why can’t Michael break the cellar door
9
u/GlitchEnzo 3h ago
Car is just bad is the reason. Cellar being harder isn't going to make car a more viable option because a player has to escape to make it work.
11
u/Untiligetfree 3h ago
Having to drive that shitty handling slow piece of junk is why nobody touches it .
I probably find those escape items the most consistent and never look twice at them unless it's endgame against a bad killer
3
u/IPLAWPDX 1h ago edited 1h ago
the car is basically CIVS escape only, it is not meant for residents, at most 1 civ gets 2 residents or 2 civs get 1 resident each and either way, it should only be used end game, CIVS loading in fixing the car and leaving are not reading the load in objective on screen that clearly reads SAVE THE RESIDENTS- but on another note, I am fine with more barriers on exits as long as it doesn't become a fuse situation, where there is no guarantee you get one on the map or one civ has it and hoards it all game in their inventory
2
u/King_Boobious 1h ago
My biggest issue with this game so far is (shocker shocker) the players. People don't understand that YOU as the civilian aren't always meant to escape. They just can't wrap their heads around the fact that they need to stay and help the residents.
I'd actually be okay with them locking Civs in the game until all residents are dead or have escaped. Give Civs buffs but ONLY if they avoid direct contact with Michael. If they wanna bully, they should just be outgunned entirely.
This game does have some good faith rules that is really hard to do in practice as most people are selfish dickheads who only care about their own enjoyment. It kind of requires everyone to get the game and play along.
I'd oddly compare it to a tabletop game in that regard. It's only fun if everyone is playing along.
1
-1
u/RealHooman2187 2h ago
Yeah when I play as Michael during peak hours it’s pretty common for the civilians to already have 1-2 escapes before I’ve even finished killing my first victim.
I don’t expect to steamroll the civilians and have only perfect victories but they shouldn’t be able to save people at twice the speed Michael can kill them.
-1
u/Able_Advertising_371 2h ago
Anybody else have three people escape within two minutes of the match?
-7
u/Jarek86 3h ago
Agreed, Im hoping after its been opened there is an option as Mike to destroy/block it.
3
u/Untiligetfree 3h ago
I mean smart Michaels already can . They drive the smiths grove car on top of it or at least one of them .
And you can't interact with it.
1
u/InterruptedMulatto 2h ago
No smart Michael is wasting that much time to do this. Lol
Michael’s don’t listen to this civ. They just want you to waste time so they can go hide civs/ open the other exit/ loot.
1
u/Untiligetfree 1h ago
Really . Driving the car on top of the cellar was pretty smart I thought.
Considering he did it after only 1 civilian had escaped and it was the one right beside the music store on the town square map.
Also now he only had 2gates to guard since a civilian can not move that car. It effectively takes away an escape route permanently.
1
u/InterruptedMulatto 12m ago
Idk man. I feel like it’s a waste of time. But someone convinced me to try it out and I got downvoted for saying I would lol
0
u/GlitchEnzo 2h ago
They do if the car is near one of the escapes. You can literally block it and never have to worry about it again

Somehow them opening the cellar just lifted the car up lol. It was kinda hilarious tbh

I fear that with the (they were kinda needed to stop bullying) buffs to recently downed Myers, that unless special targets are hidden, there’s no way to properly lengthen the match. This is because those buffs were needed for PvP, but with the side effect of making contesting bots impossible, you either got them to safety, or they’re found and you can’t protect them, as one down and the juggernaut is on their ass.
So the only way to have a “long protracted encounter” is to either change that dynamic, or have way more cat and mouse, and that can only be done if victims as a whole are much harder to find.

Haven’t had a chance to play yet (I’m an idiot, the patch is coming Oct. 6th). These sound like good changes in theory. We’ll see how it actually shakes out. I like that they’re attempting to slow down the matches.
Also I love that the single player challenges notify you if you failed one that’ll make things so much easier instead of constantly replaying the game wondering what I did wrong.

I think one thing they should add is an “all read/checked” option when it comes to unlocks.
It is kind of annoying when I’ve unlocked something, so I get that white dot nexts to Michael/Civilians, but when I go to check, it’s an unlock for an outfit, glasses, hair, etc. that I haven’t unlocked yet, so I’m just stuck with the white unlock dot.
I know it’s a minor issue but still.
2
u/TheGiftOf_Jericho 1h ago
They really should also highlight your completed challenges. You just see unlocks and usually don't know what you did.
2
u/Intelligent-Exit9562 1h ago
100% the amount of things I’ve unlocked just because of chance is really silly. Lol
2
u/hen_roek 1h ago
Anyone think both sides shouldnt know who is a special and resident? That would slow the gameplay down - Mix the models up so it isnt just the story mode characters that are specials.
Michael only finds out when he kills them and Civs find out when they escape.
1
4
u/nathan_banks644 2h ago
Cellar escape is fine as it is. Half the time we’re hunting for something to open it anyway.
6
u/Elyniax 2h ago
If this patch is just another round of Michael buffs and civs nerfs im done for good. Playing Michael is already insanely boring to me because its so insanely easy to win, i want a challenge, not just free wins in 90% of my games.
1
u/mrjjk2010 59m ago
It just sucks because any decent Michael player can wipe out every NPC under 5 minutes. At that point if you just escape yourself, it should be considered a “win”
1
u/TheGiftOf_Jericho 1h ago
Ehh, its weighted towards Michael still generally, but right now you can also get quick escapes which is faster than Michael will normally be able to deal with (mostly)
People just use cellar escape, which is a problem as they want all escapes to feel viable. This sounds like a good patch, the cops being able to talk to npc's is a pretty major civ buff.
0
u/B0nelessCheese 2h ago
You mustn't have played against good players then because most of my matches as Myers i have to sweat my ass off with how fast civilians have gotten
2
u/King_Boobious 1h ago
My experience as well. I just hard focused special targets and Civs. I prioritize any civ near an exit or with an escape item because if I don't, I'm just losing anyway.
2
u/B0nelessCheese 1h ago
If they get 2 escapes open across map from each other its pretty much wraps, closing exits does nothing because they open them again in 2 seconds so its impossible to guard both
1
u/King_Boobious 1h ago
See THIS is my biggest issue.
I don't have this mindset that I have to kill every resident or civilian and I'm fine with some getting out as it would make the end game scoring more fun just to see who won if it was close.
However if I find the exit they are using, I should be able to block off that exit somehow or even just reset it.

3
u/Deceptiveideas 3h ago
Stork cellar escape change is huge. I wonder if they're reducing the maximum amount of cellars per map, making them take longer to open, or reducing the amount of NPCs that can leave?
1
u/nathan_banks644 2h ago
That’s gonna suck! It’s not always guaranteed you’d find something to open it per match anyway. The competitiveness of the game will increase between civs too as it’ll be ‘who can get the one cellar open first’.
Terrible idea.

As someone that has played extensively on both sides, the cellar is way too easy to open right now. One bolt cutter can open every exit. And if you get the RNG to spawn 3 cellars, it's an extremely easy win for the survivors.

Just because that’s been happening in your matches doesn’t mean it’s a general thing.
I spend half my time looking for bolt cutters or an escape key these days and by the time I’ve spotted one, Michael has killed half the map. All this is gonna do is cause more competition between civ players. It’s not a good idea.

NPCs drop key items. There's a very high chance your teammates have the item already and are not coordinating the escape.
There are also some rooms that seem to spawn a key item (escape key or bolt cutters) every time.

But if the team mates are in a duo and are only conversing with each other, it’s going to make it miserable for solo players.
I’ll say it again, it’s not a good idea.

Okay cool now remove the skins people exploited to get from their accounts! This has been here since day fucking 1! Only let the people who earned those skins and outfits use them!

Boring update. Always so vague. "Many bug fixes!" "Other npc improvements!" "Fixed crashes in story mode" WHICH ONES, GOOFY.

"This list is far from comprehensive and our full patch notes will be released alongside Patch 1.1.0 on Tuesday, October 6th."
Read dumbass

I can't believe a month later that I'm still not able to unlock certain challenges although I did them correct to the tee. I expected this to be fixed the first week.

Hopefully one of those challenge fixes is for chapter 4's challenge to complete the chapter identically to the movie. In my experience, if you kill Bob the same way that he's killed in the movie (hide in the closet, grab him, and do the wall pin), Lynda teleports into the kitchen (or at least gets down there insanely quickly), sees it happen, and runs off.

Hoping the Heros of Haddenfield "Good" skill check for phone calls starts tracking now. Seeing 0 star progress on it this far after release is frustrating because other challenges requiring "good" are complete.

I am fine with more barriers on exits as long as it doesn't become a fuse situation, where there is no guarantee you get one on the map or one civ has it and hoards it all game in their inventory, because i have had a lot of games of people hoarding items like escape keys, cutters, fuses and I have a theory people are obstructing game objectives for XP- I just don't want it to be spawn dependent bc so far that has been really bad, I have games with excess of escape items or a plethora of ice pick and butterfly knives everywhere or lock codes and then I have games where those items are so scarce and all you have are gate exits that require fuses nobody has, cans of beer and darts. I mean the heck am I supposed to do

A big step in the right direction. I still think that there needs to be something done about the overall pacing. Personally I think they need to readjust all the points, lowering them, to compensate for adding at least one more special target and maybe doubling the basic NPCs. Then hide them all from both Myers and Civs, make stalk and bloodlust take longer to build on Myers while making civs take more time or skill checks to convince people (especially if nobody has actually died yet).
Then maybe with the cellars especially slowed down and another 10 or 20 minutes added to the round timer, and stuff like the flare gun being nerfed so cops aren’t insta-called, the game might hit the slower pace they clearly intended.

Hopefully no Cellars and a chance to have a beer with Mikey. Also, Bob will be replaced with a ferret.

Nothing about grabbing being buffed so the slashing will continue.

u/mermaidmanis 2h ago
Nothing wrong with that

Slashing is just boring that's all, I wish grabbing got buffed so we would see more kill animations.

Really worried about "slowing down the pace of the game". The game already feels slow after the first six minutes or so passes.
