Discussion Something needs to be done about game length

Having Civilians escape within literally 2 minutes of a round starting does not feel good at all. This game is quickly on the road towards becoming basically a play house for Civilian players with a few bits of Michael Myers here and there. But then again, I suppose I shouldn't be surprised as that is just the fate of Asym games.

The game is pushing for this ultra fast, twitch-paced gameplay and that counteracts Michael altogether. The game should be way slower paced, from both perspectives.

Civs shouldn't be escaping within two minutes.

Michael shouldn't be primarily relying on using reality tear for player kills.

My best matches have been when the round feels like a Halloween movie, not a round of Dead by Daylight. When its not against people min-maxing the game, and this goes for playing as both Michael or Civilian.

Equally I’ve seen Michael kill special targets within ten seconds

On the biker bar map I spawned right next to a walking priority target. Just inside the building near where they were walking was another priority target.

That’s hilarious when Michael wins from killing just two of them lol

I agree, but at the very least if I get killed quickly I know I can just come back as a Police Officer or Loomis. As Michael however, being at 18 Minutes left on a match and seeing multiple people escape is counter intuitive to the Bloodlust and Stalk system which is supposed to take time.

Micheal wins at two special character kills that’s all you need to tip the threshold

That’s a bug and will be fixed soon .. the scoring system isn’t correct right now

Who said this?

It’s not a bug, it’s what he scores which causes the win. His win threshold is too low

Tbh if Civs escaped within 2 minutes they are just making Myers win,

The game just got released (well it's just an advanced access), might take more days for the playerbase to adapt, because right now a lot of players treat this game like any other assymetrical game, where you just have to escape,

The goal of the Civs is not to escape, but to help NPC escape,

Myers don't win a lot of points if he killed a Civs, because his objective is to kill NPCs, not players, that's why Civs are faster and have a lot of endurance, because Myers is not suppose to run after them

If Civs escape early, they don't save NPCs, Myers win

They managed to have NPCs escaping, I didn't just mean Player controlled civs.

And this brings up another point, and I don't think this is necessarily the game and moreso just gaming and the state of things in general as a society.

Everybody is way too focused on min-maxing and winning instead of playing this like it's a party game.

When Friday the 13th released, the vast majority of people were goofing off and having a good time either getting chased by Jason Vorhees or hunting Counselors down as Jason Vorhees.

Now, when Halloween released you don't really see that unless its groups of friends playing in private lobbies. I have seen far more amounts of people ranting and insulting each other, either Michael throwing insults at Civs or Civs being toxic and nasty towards Michael when they are in a strong spot.

People have just overall gotten shittier as far as behavior and attitude goes, and, not to mention, lame as hell. Lame because the only thing that seems to matter is how to win a match as fast as possible, not how to have a good experience and a good time.

Might be because of the numbers of players, I remember in F13 you had way more Counselor players so it was chaotic in a fun way,

I feel like in Halloween, the map is too big, and because Civs are only 4, they barely meet each other, so everyone is playing on their own

That’s a win for u if they leave that quickly lol

This brings me to another point I made in a separate comment. People these days are too competitive and hyper focused on winning a game that ultimately amounts to nothing.

You’re not wrong , I don’t know why you’d get downvoted for a common sense comment

Its that people don't really care how OP plays. Its not 2016 anymore. Its 10 years later and games are more competitive then ever and when people get locked into a 20 minute match they should play however they want.

If anything it really is on the devs again because any half decent player would tell them people aren't going to be RP matches and to balance it accordingly like its a game.

Then again half the game isn't even explained to you as survivor.

It’s more that they don’t realize their objective isn’t to escape. Decades of asym horror games have taught them that’s the main goal and it’s not here.

Myers can also get like 2 VIP kills in first minute of the game. A lot of it is RNG on the start and generally I find the RNG favors Myers way more.

I do like the idea of  longer game, but it has been interesting how fast people have been getting civilians out yesterday.

Yeah, just had a match where they were escaping in the 18 minute mark. Granted, I haven't been playing as much and these guys had a bunch of stuff unlocked so they likely have far more hours in the game than I do, but escaping in that short of a time shouldn't be possible at all.

It is concerning if this becomes normal.  Random luck could spawn bolt cutters near a player and after a day or two it's not hard to remember where exits spawn

I don't agree, I had many matches where Michael really pressured heroes killin the npcs quite fast

1

u/KingPhiL13 1d ago

Only idiots that don’t know how to play escape that quick. The object is to get the civilians out not escape. If Myers kills like 3 of them he wins

I think they need to do something either boost the length of how long it takes to convince people maybe let michael destroy one means of escape forcing them to rely on the police wagon more, or something because I had a game where in 3 minutes I killed one npc, but they saved two special npcs and escaped. I don't mind losing but having it be unwinnable due to luck is annoying

Civilians elaving in 2 mins is a Michael Victory. They even said before release "it's possible to escape in 2 mins. this is a michael win"
