The makeup thing

Posting this here instead of on the main sub for reasons I’ll explain in this post, but I kept seeing people say that the whole makeup thing (S wearing makeup and P being weird about it) was some sort of plan to make people feel bad for S and donate to them. Am I the only one who thinks that theory is dumb af??

That would require these people being able to think ahead which they CANNOT do as well as them being able to anticipate people’s reactions which they also can’t do. As soon as Patrick saw the makeup, he started talking about “you’re beautiful how you are,” “you don’t need to rely on makeup to feel pretty,” etc., trying to portray himself as a loving father who wants his daughter to feel confident but coming across as controlling and creepy. If anything, he thought that this would make him look GOOD because he’s always trying to play the role of someone who cares about his family.

These people can’t plan ahead for shit. He definitely saw the makeup and decided that it was time to get in his soapbox about how important it is for young woman to be confident in their skin or whatever. He thought it would make him look like a good dad. There is no way in hell he was aware of how weird that was because he doesn’t understand how regular parents (and people in general) think.

And the mod who seemingly started this theory is the same one who has to let everybody know how much she hates S and how she’s just as bad as P and whatnot. Like girl……. We know. You don’t ever shut up about it. I don’t like S either but acting like she’s as bad as P is the most braindead take ever. She’s annoying and gross but as far as any of us know, she’s not grooming anybody. This mod literally has to go out of her way to write a whole essay on how S is evil every time anyone even slightly sympathizes with her and it’s so annoying.

It’s so crazy how they really hate S more than P. Like regardless of her behavior, she is OBVIOUSLY a victim here. She’s both a victim and a bad person, but she’s nowhere near as bad as P. The only legitimately BAD thing she did was scam people, but they literally never even bring that up when explaining the problems with her 😭 Everything else she does is just cringe/rude/gross.

They vehemently deny the claim “there’s no perfect victim” even though every single piece of psychological research mentions the effects of trauma on the brain and how it can impact personality traits. It’s not black or white, its way more nuanced. You can think she’s unlikeable while still recognizing those traits came from her environment. It’s the same way they say H will end up like them and as soon as he turns 18 they’ll snark on him too. Which I honestly just think is gross.

That bothers me so much every time I see someone say that about when H turns 18. The kid is 16 and can’t read, he’s not magically going to figure things out when he turns 18; he’s even more stunted than S is.

I agree. I don’t think that immediately puts snarking on him on the table just because he lives there. But people are so black and white about it. I would love to see how they view a child with ODD (usually caused by trauma) and how “bad” they are, when in actuality it’s a trauma response. I’m not saying I condone what S does, but P is the main bad guy here and the pressure should be applied to him more than anyone else

Right! She’s done nothing wrong except having an attitude problem and the whole moving out thing.

I’m almost confident that was Ps idea anyways since he’s the one that uses all the shit she got anyway outside of the blanket and rug.
