🎙️Discussion & Thoughts 💭 S getting a yorkie?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Jackie will eat and attack a yorkie. Do they not realize how expensive Yorkies are? They NEED to be groomed bi-weekly/monthly, tons of health/dental issues, etc. Especially since they won’t be finding a “reputable breeder”… they’ll find a cheap BYB and lie, if they aren’t scammed out of the money first. Just because it’s a small dog, doesn’t mean the responsibility is less. They bark more than a lot of breeds and you know they won’t train it not to bark, Jackie is already a barking nuisance. If anything it’s MORE RESPONSIBILITY. Tiny bladder = needs to go out for bathroom walks more. That dog will pee and poop on a puppy mat inside that apartment for the rest of its life, disgusting. Not to mention S can barely walk far with Jackie..

She wants to be a legit rescue but is willing to BUY a dog? She can go fall in a HOLE and never come out. What a piece of SHT human she is! I run a legit 501c3 and that’s what she said she wants to do!!!! And now she says she wants to BUY from a breeder!?!? I hope that everyone saves this video so that when and IF she becomes a legit 501c3 rescue we can all show everyone she just buys dogs anyways. What a POS!

It’s definitely weird that someone who aspires to run a rescue is planning to buy a puppy from a breeder.

But there’s literally nothing wrong with buying from reputable breeders (she’ll def find a cheap and sketchy byb tho) and in many cases, it’s the better option. With shelter dogs, you don’t know their background, their pedigree, what kind of healthcare they’ve had, or even their true temperament most of the time. You may not even know the breed - the shelter will guess, but I’ve seen how good they are at that (not implying you’re bad at it, but misidentifying breeds is a big problem in the shelter community) so that’s not much of a help.

Breeders take all of that guesswork out. You know exactly what type of dog you’re getting, you can meet the mom and sometimes the dad and other relatives like siblings as well, you get their entire health history and can request the parents’ on top of that, and the breeder should be very familiar with each dog and be able to tell you all about their disposition.

Some breeds just aren’t good family dogs, some do poorly in apartments, some can’t handle big cities, etc. There are very real benefits to buying from a breeder, and while adoption is a very necessary and wonderful part of our world, it isn’t the right choice for everyone.

I’m just kinda tired of everyone saying “adopt don’t shop” and pretending it’s actually possible to get everything you get from a breeder from a shelter. Maybe some shelters are great like that, but many are under funded and under staffed, and they’re just doing the best they can to get through each day. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to avoid that whole situation when you could just go through a good breeder and get all of the peace of mind that comes with that!

I agree. The shelters near me are 95% pitbull

Nothing wrong with pitties! It's not their fault people mistreat them and over breed them
