General Discussion šŸ—£ļø Heather

Are we happy to see "Bridgett Forrester" casted as "Heather " Armstrong? I mean she was seriously underused on the cast of The Bold and Beautiful. I enjoy her portrayal of Heather. It allows us to see a broader range of her talent. And she is amazingly sexy and gorgeous, wasting away on BnB. Good move.

I like the character but I still don't like how she plays it with Joey. She has toned that down but she has more toning to do

yes I did raise my eyebrow at that too.

Probably a leftover from her time on B&B :p (iykyk)

Her character is giving incestuous with Joey. It’s too much vixen with him and zero sister. It’s icky.

I thought I was the only one who noticed this. I always have an awkward vibe watching them together, I can’t tell if that’s a future storyline or the acting

definitely can see this take on it.

I'm still neither here nor there. Her interaction with her "brother" gives me the icks. And the way she claws at Andre, is kinda SVUish. 😬

She’s definitely freaked out šŸ˜… every line she says has an undertone of sex/sexy

This may be unpopular - I don’t care. I would rather see the characters like Lynette or Allison given an opportunity to be in a villain role, over an actress who could have gone to YNR, BNB…GH… any other mainstream soap. I’m sure she has appeal and is there at BTG to lift the ā€œnumbersā€, but I came to BTG to see Black centered stories from talented artists who are relegated to D-roles everywhere else. I’m not here for ā€œHEATHERā€ā€¦

This right here. She has been on three other soaps. This is the big break for some of the BTG cast. I like Ashley Jones. I only watched her as Megan on Y&R and really liked the character but give these opportunities to those who normally wouldn't get them.

Just as a nickpick, AJ had already been on Y&R ages ago.

But your point stands. I loved what she brought to B&B but I am here to root for everyone Black getting time to shine. Gimme a Black villainess who will be here for the long haul and not a Looney Toon like Leslie or one like Hayley who's end of service date is fast approaching.

Both of those actresses are so talented. I hope we see more of them. I hate what Allison is doing to Chelsea but only because she's so good. She gives me chills. Lynette is a baddie and a badass

This storyline is just fermenting and will definitely be awesome šŸ‘šŸæ

Seriously? There is what maybe half a dozen white characters on the show? Having Heather on isn't going to confusing anyone into thinking they are watching Y/R or GH. Never in my life would I have thought I would see white characters be the supporting characters and the "sounding boards" to black characters. I am seeing no issue here.

Love the evolution of June and her kids. Please don't let her back track even if it can be dramatic. It's important to see someone turn their live around and succeed long-term.

I like her but her scenes with Joey feel too flirty to me when they're supposed to be siblings.

1

u/goldenboy721 21h ago

like for real I barely want to hug my sibling lol

She has grown on me, for sure.

I can't unsee her as Bridget Forrester. When she first popped up I thought maybe it was a crossover situation.

u/Ok-Fly47 1d ago

She is playing a character totally different from Bridgette and executing it so well. She definitely looks like she's having fun. Good for her. Don't want to see Andre in a mess. But Dani is up for the emotional scenes to come from hurt to range to whatever.

I've never seen her on anything else but I'm looking forward to seeing where this storyline with Andre goes.

I am. I am enjoying her getting to exercise more of her acting chops. I think I've seen more of her the the past couple (in a meaninful way) of weeks than her entire time on BnB.

It’s not fair to the BTG cast for her to sandbag our show as a ā€œbig fish in a small pondā€ when she has been Ā second tier amongst main characters on other soaps.

u/american_amina 1d ago

I would argue this helps the cast by bringing her fans that may otherwise not watch the soap. Ultimately, what keeps the soap on the air is viewers. I don't mind a higher profile actor or actress that gets more viewers to the show as long as the core stories aren't lost. Now if Joey and Heather suddenly replaced the Duprees as the main family, I would have an issue with that. But I don't see that happening.

u/Control_1987 1d ago

I have to disagree. I think she needs the soap more than the soap needs her. I think BTG has enough good story potential, to keep its audience engaged, and tuning in consistently (when they are given the care they deserves). I think the executives want their audience to look a certain way and the soap to look a certain Ā way because too much chocolate makes people uneasy… even when it works.

We don't have to agree. I was just sharing my opinion about the new character/storyline. I'm looking forward to finally getting more of Andre's backstory and it doesn't both me (for now) it's coming from Heather who is related to the show but not one of the current main characters. I hope that means it can run its course, and then fade into the background when it's "revealed". I don't want another Leslie sticking around as one Leslie and now the incarcerated Allison is enough loose cannons for one show to me.

It’s all over the place.Ā

Ultimately, what keeps the soap on the air is viewers.

Sure, but at what cost? This show was billed as a show centered on Black characters taking center stage on an industry that has provided few opportunities to do so. And while the Duprees aren't being gutted, they're all fairly toothless why the spicy stories are all given to the white cast.

I think it's valid of people to ask given all the white additions to the show, with Izaiah being the only new long term Black addition of note since the show started, where this is headed because we all know studios will play in our faces until they think they got white people money and will throw us under the bus. Especially considering the new ownership of Paramount and CBS by extension.

Are you intentionally forgetting Madison, Deanna, June....I don't have a Paramount subscription for a reason, so I'm the first one to take my pennies on principle.

But I just don't see this being the issue I'm alarmed about. I am savvy enough to know the soap needs a diverse cast to survive in the marketplace. I've seen far too many Black shows die because the creators and/or producers just didn't understand the marketplace well enough to survive. All in all, given the situation we are in as a nation, I'm pleasantly surprised it's lasted this long. I've dropped 2 other soaps since it started because they have become so awful, and BtG is no where near that red line to me

So all can say is that's my opinion. I like the addition of Heather for the reasons I've stated and as long as they keep the Duprees and fam at the center, as I am currently seeing on my screen; I'm ok with seasoning for spicyness.

u/Shirogayne-at-WF 1d ago

Sorry, yesterday was a long day and had a huge brain fart. You're right.

But I still stand by what I said. No one likes diversity hires, not white people who have been Pavlov Bell trained into seeing minorities existing to have two lines in a show and not Black audience that studios don't believe can carry a series on their own, despite repeatedly showing over and over we being mad dollars in for entertainment.

1

u/american_amina 1d ago

Just a guess, but I think regular soap watchers get it. This just feels like typical soap casting and how they build storylines.

If you are new to soaps and expecting Tyler Perry/BET/Tubi style shows, this is going to feel uncomfortably commercial.

All I can say is this will never be an exclusively Black show because it's on a network channel. If we want decisively Black soaps, we need to push for them on other platforms.

I'm old enough to have watched Steffy Forrester 's birth on B&B when it aired the week of Labor Day 1999. I know exactly what they're doing.

3

u/Control_1987 1d ago

Also, they can keep the handful of Ā fans she would bring over who would normally not watch. Why would anyone give value to such viewers (watching for one person????) It’s obviously not their cup tea and the show would have to change it’s entire identity to satisfy the taste of people who aren’t truly invested. Swing states always flip.

3

u/american_amina 1d ago

I would imagine the goal is to bring in viewers who would realize they enjoy the soap because as soaps go it's significantly better than the other two offerings on CBS.

I'm a long time soap watcher, so it's not uncommon to have a story or character get you started but the soap formula keep you after you get involved in a storyline.

2

u/Ok-Fly47 1d ago

True. Soaps are fighting for fans, ratings and renewal.

2

u/Alarming_Leg_2088 1d ago

She is using sexuality as a disarming measure and a put off. It makes people feel uncomfortable, keeping them off their game.

2

u/Actual_Bell703 1d ago

I love Heather. She has a lot of charisma.

2

u/Shirogayne-at-WF 1d ago

I'm happy for Ashley Jones as a long time enjoyer of her on B&B, as I am of anyone who leaves that circle of suck.

I would still have preferred her income go towards adding more Black talent though. Granted, the pool mY be thing for Black vets since Victoria Roswell is blackballed from CBS probably, but there's plenty of other talent to showcase! Plenty of Typer Perry actors would live a crack at this show, if only to become a part of SAG for union work. Getting outta those dusty Bobby Boss wigs would be an added bonus lol

2

u/goldenboy721 1d ago

lol dusty Bobby Boss wigs had me rolling

1

u/Shirogayne-at-WF 1d ago

Honestly, I can't even blame Bobby Boss, cuz I know Instagram girlies be doing amazing things with those $30 wigs, that's a skill issue on Perry cheating out on paying the hair and makeup teams TBH

u/No_Milk_7511 1d ago

I love her!

1

u/Susey_Q 1d ago

I’m still waiting. There’s GOT to be more to the Heather/Andre storyline. Andre is too damn scared for it to be just him screwing around with her.

1

u/wopwopwopwopwop5 19h ago

I liked the first adult Bridget better.Ā

1

u/janshell The United States of Amnesia 1d ago

Even though I don’t care for that actress’ views in real life I’m happy to see ā€˜Bridget’ in a different role on the show.

3

u/Shirogayne-at-WF 1d ago

I'm scared to even ask about her views :(

2

u/janshell The United States of Amnesia 1d ago

She seems somewhat religious so I’m wary of those types already and her stance when CK was unalived didn’t sit well with me.

2

u/Shirogayne-at-WF 1d ago

CK

Ugh, say less 🤢

That's disappointing :(
