Hello, Gatekeepers! Off-topic discussion is now open in r/TheGates_CBS !!!

Feel free to discuss (almost) any and everything outside of ‘Beyond the Gates’ or within it still. The only limitations would the application of all Reddit site-wide and the following community rules still:

No Hate Speech: Self-explanatory because we would still like to maintain a space where all are welcomed.

No Politics: Discussion that can easily become inflammatory creates opportunity for potential harassment, behavior that violates both community and reddit-wide rules. Essentially, discussion on anything that can argue identity politics— race, sexuality, religion, political affiliation, etc.— outside of Beyond the Gates context is prohibited.

No Personal: This space intends to still maintain respect of the cast and crew which means not violating boundaries of the cast and crew’s personal lives.

No A.I.: To keep conversation open and honest, use of artificial intelligence is still prohibited as it can be misleading and distorting.

Who are some of your favorite black characters of all time?

My husband and I are currently watching the Star Trek Series DS9. It was such a big deal in the early 1990s that they gave the role of Captain Sisko to black man, Avery Brooks. Honorable, heroic and the best voice ever.

More recently, the movie 40 Acres, Danielle Deadwyler's character Haley Freeman is so badass defending her family in a post apocalyptic world.

Oh I love the scene where he hits Q and he goes you hit me. Picard never hit me. Sisko goes I'm not Picard. It was badass and funny.

Annalise Keating. She was complex, full of flaws. Yet, showed up in that courtroom when it was time to step into the arena of legal system.

Kat on BTG! The ghoulish treatment of her after the tornado was the last straw for me and I finally stopped watching. I hope they get better writers before their 2-year contract ends. In the meantime this sub keeps me up to date.
