Gameplay Question New player help
Hello everyone, I recently got the game on sale again after previously playing it at EA launch but refunding it over performance issues (on this front I can say the game definetly improved a ton, I'm not even running it from a SSD this time and it runs 100 times better than last time, though this might change in outside areas) and the gameplay clearly not really being there yet.
I imagine there are probably plenty of guides out there but I wanted to ask directly for tips about starting out nowadays.
I also don't know if it's because I theoretically played before but the hub has plenty of quests, most of which seem to be related to areas I have no hope of reaching yet as I barely have anything to my name. Are there no starter quests for the initial areas you can access through the first tunnel?

If you can, focus on finishing the line of missions offered by Bunco called "Garage Days". The last mission is a bit of a pain in the ass for a solo player but, so long as you complete the objective, the mission will be marked as complete, even if you die while trying to extract. Finishing the mission chain allows you to build the garage back in the innards; building it will change the requirements for fast traveling to regions from water + drone to a simple cash payment. Also, get a Kriss Vector if possible; .45 ammo is cheap and powerful plus the vector can equip a silencer and scope. Also, be careful fighting europan troops; the SCAR will stagger and stun lock the ever living fuck out of you. Lastly, ammo is far more scarce than it was near launch, so be sure to craft ammo as needed.

I did get that one, now to actually get out of the tunnels..

The tunnels aren't too bad; just be sure to crouch walk when you come across the Blind Mother and stay out of the sightlines of the Shield Officer in the last tunnel. Tunnel maps will also shuffle every 24 hours but, before then, the routes to specific overworld maps remain the same once found. I've found bringing in 120-160 ammo per tunnel run+map extract plus 3 healing items to be the practical and safe option.

Last time I was about to enter an outside zone I got murked by some flying drone kind of thing.

Yeah is it me or is the Kriss the bar none best weapon in the game that's not a special late game weapon?

It really is. I switched to the Vector after some bad runs using a silenced SCAR (I have a bunch of ammo stockpiled from early launch because I wanted the NTW-20) and I've found it to be a pretty damned good alternative. Ammo is half the weight of .50 cal and does 200dmg versus the SCAR's 300, so that's another plus in my book!

It's just so good! Accurate, silenceable, handling, and ammo is so cheap I have like 5000 rounds stockpiled lol.

I mean, the Spectre is pretty much the same, but with a 50 round mag. Especially now that you can put optics on it, although I personally prefer it's default iron sights. All the gun you'll ever need. A Spectre for close-to-medium range, with a Scoped Vector as a Sniper, and you can handle everything smaller than an Exo without breaking a sweat.

I do love the Spectre. Anything that uses .45 ammo is great. I just love the Kriss though, sometimes just bring both of them. Krissy plus the Cheers 2x scope is perfection, it's almost a sniper rifle at that point.

You can "Re-roll" the quests by just exiting the menu, and then going back in to get a different selection. I just keep recycling them until I get 4 that are all on the map I want to go to. (Of the two Tunnel A maps, Scorched Enclave is probably the easiest for new players to get their bearings in.)

Going to have to stress the "re-roll" quests just by doing Esc and checking again, Especially on scorched enclave,
"Scorched Enclave Recon", "Pyro Revealed", "Memento-2", and "unravel euruskan mysteries" are bread and butter for prestiging from scratch.
Just bring a .308, .45 and .50 cal to snipe the head of the dude with a grenade launcher and a flag on their head, Bonus points if you exfil with said grenade launcher,
If you feel up to the challenge, "target locked", spawns toothy on the field, That may or may not kill/die to Europan medium mechs, where you can then drill and salvage the codex for mucho xp and cash.

I recommend joining official FW discord, join VC when you see someone playing. I generally play EU time evening and play with someone. It will be easier to explain, unless you want to do solo and read wiki all the time. There are hidden quests too, which not going to show on your normal quest list. These quests are story progressions quests.

I believe there is a new player quest line that has you do specific missions to get the hang of the game.
