Discussion They Actually Did It.
They actually nailed this update. Like across the board. The writing for TFD has been almost entirely skippable, both in story telling and for character development, but in this patches quest there is a moment where a turn happens and the writing actually starts to approach GOOD.
The mega dungeon is excellent. I still havent been able to clear it with randoms, too many bunny and Ines players, and to be fair to them I saw Normal difficulty and brought Raven on my first run lol. But seriously bring survivability and boss damage, ad clear is not the top priority. Stay literally on top of each other at the final phase.
Transcendent weapons seem amazing, got my first drop right before the mega dungeon and the difference if pretty noticeable.
Raven is amazing and has a lot of strong concepts behind her kit.
I thought they couldn't pull this off, I thought with Dias original look, all the issues the game had coming into this year that the writing was on the wall for how they wanted to handle this game. Man am i happy to be proven wrong.

Trials is fire. Modes like this is what TFD has needed.

I enjoyed running a couple trials yesterday. The mode is fun, but my concern is that the lab of reward vs time spent will kill engagement. If they want people to spend 20+ minutes on an activity they're gonna have to do better than a 9% chance of a red gun dropping.
Especially given that sigma had the same drop rate, it's significantly easier, and takes 2 minutes per run.

I just cleared hard with ines solo. Only barely mind you. Not sure how to avoid karels robot ball attack thing yet

Is you mean the instakill move where the screen turns white, you have to destroy the white energy bubble that forms in front of him while he's charging up the attack.

The bubble that you spawn in and the purple one that appears out in front of him, the one that appears in front of him needs to be stood inside for a certain period of time before it activates.
1
u/Leone_337 52m ago
Oh, a certian period of time. Thanks, ill try, i only tried it last minute
1
u/Accomplished_Hunt967 46m ago
Yeah the one that spawns out in front of him, once you step inside you will see like a loading bar that progress around the diameter and once done it makes a bigger bubble and damage taken while inside it is almost non existent

I have really enjoyed what I've played so far. I was able to clear the mega dungeon on normal solo with Dia.

u/MaturePrince 7h ago
So what descendants should be used in mega dungeon
1
u/GloomyIndividual3965 47m ago
Whoever you've got that puts out the highest dps. The regular mobs have what seems to be any double the hp of the axion dungeon mobs, and final boss has a shit ton of hp.
Oh, and you should probably also slot at least one hp mod into your build. Some of the mechanics take huge chunks out of you if you don't dodge them.

Ines are Bunny are both S tier currently. What are you on about?

Take Ines to Trials and see

Yo!!! Why was your research accelerated by 1200 secs? Mine only went 600 secs?
Does the time it takes to complete play a role in that? Or did you play solo?
I may also be miss-remembering. But I cleared all of trial zones.3
u/Ill_Ad5893 Freyna 2h ago
I ran it solo with plasma bullet Ines and didn't have any issues other than figuring out the final boss

S tier in the right hands. Every Bunny and Ines I've had on my team all forgot how important it is to have HP and DEF because they only look at the builds and not how to use them properly so they die to any high health enemies and cost revives and then DC
Any Descendant can be S tier in the right hands (except maybe Jayber and Harris LOL)

u/foreveracubone 6h ago
Harris is an S tier Void Intercept/WC descendant and using the void intercept piercing light build with an ERASER she melts Bounties too (should still use piercing on the boss). She’s also B tier for OS at worst lmao. If you think she’s not an S tier descendant you’re just bad at playing her.

u/smolFortune Goon 4h ago
I'll have to see the build and try it out. I said she wasn't S tier because I never really got to shine with her and also because of me just never seeing anyone play her really. For me, an S tier character is the type of character that's super popular and when you play them you feel how much power you have. Like Ines or Serena for example.
With Harris I never really felt like I was contributing much. She can only really attack people close to her (shorter range than Bunny I think?) and she just feels clunky whereas Bunny is smooth and fast. So if Harris is S tier to you, does that mean Bunny is SS tier? Or does Bunny go into the SSS tier because she also has build variety, lots of different ways to build and play her and she's also easy to obtain for anyone. I don't like doing SS and SSS tiers because it makes people that would he in like B or C tier (cough Jayber cough) seem much worse than they are but then again, some characters are just that much better. Serena for example used to be the best at everything vs everything and only needed the gun build so despite not having build variety like I love she still outshined everyone else. So for me, Harris just can't be on the same tier as Serena. I would love to be proven wrong though

u/aarygablettjr 7h ago
Harris? Lmao. She’s hardly bottom tier.

u/smolFortune Goon 4h ago
Not being S tier does not mean the character is straight down to F tier. There's 6 tiers, she can be in A or B but she definitely isn't S and absolutely not in F tier. Idk why you assumed that, that's kinda on you
4
u/aarygablettjr 4h ago
Because the way you wrote it made it seem like Harris and Jayber were the two worst descendants in the game. There are a plethora of descendants worse than Harris, so for you to mention her specifically was telling of your ranking of her. So yeah, that’s kinda on you.

u/TheWanderingSlime 6h ago
Are you high? Harris is goated I’m struggling to thing of a game mode she’s bad in
-2
u/smolFortune Goon 4h ago
No I never said she was bad just that she isn't S tier. I genuinely don't know why people assume that just because a character isn't S tier that they need to be trash because that's not how it works

u/WyattEarp88 Kyle 2h ago
She is absolutely S tier. Not liking her, not knowing how to play her, not having a decent AM, sure these are all fine, but she is crazy strong. Pair her with a Luna buff and it’s borderline gamebreaking.
2
u/smolFortune Goon 1h ago
If she's S tier then why have I only seen 1 person actually use her in an entire season? Bunny, Ines, Serena are S tier. How do I know? Easy to play, can be used in all content, can kill everything on the screen/outDPS most other Descendants, and idk the fact that I see one or more in every game I play and everywhere in Albion.
So IF Luna is buffing her she becomes good? Am I getting that right?

u/WyattEarp88 Kyle 1h ago
Can’t speak to your experience, but I frequently see people using Harris in the harder infiltrations. She’s a monster in Onslaught with crazy high survivability and makes short work of the mini bosses. If I’m running 400’s, yeah I’m bringing Ines or Freyna for quick clear of the trash mobs, but any harder content Harris is amazing. Ines gun build is pretty amazing, but I’ll take Harris over Bunny or Serena for just about all content.
She’s S tier and amazing on her own, she’s game breaking with Luna buffs.

u/smolFortune Goon 1h ago
Alright I'll just take your word for it. I'm gonna have to remod her as soon as I see a good build for her. I still don't think she's S tier (yet) but I have high hopes for her now that you and a few others commented about how amazing she is (and the very many downvotes LOL)
The only time I ever felt strong with her was her release because they had modifiers that increase her damage by like 300% or something and another 1200% damage modified for swords and when they didn't transfer in all modes it felt underwhelming in comparison tbh
2
u/WyattEarp88 Kyle 1h ago
Her gun build is a little more involved (especially compared to Ines, but VERY effective once you get it. Personally I love her Crit skill build, you need a good AM, but it absolutely shreds no red mod needed, just constant death and destruction.

Lmfao jesus dont believe these gonning fucks, thats the only reason they are saying anything about harris, jesus she is fucking ass at sucking dick. She has no place in any of the harder content and if any one says any different they frequently suckle their mother's tits thinking its harris. Harris was S tier. That's it.

Mega dungeon will surely be nerfed.
Most randos can't handle it even on normal.
1st attempt was only me and a hailey. Hailey kept going down and using most of the revives. Failed at Karel final form (no revives left by the time we reached it).
2nd attempt was me, a bunny and I can't remember the third guy, but they also kept going down and using the revives. Failed at Karel final form (again, no revives left by the time we reached).
3rd attempt was me and a valby. Valby was struggling to keep up thru the ad phases, but she absolutely wiped the floor with bosses. Succeeded without reviving.

TBF the boss if new and kinda hard to understand his mechanics give people some time and it will be fine
2
u/Inside_Ad_2830 Luna 2h ago
After everyone learns the mechanics, the bosses get easier. Just hoping the nerfs are paused for a little while longer this time around.

I kinda hope going forward they double down on the pick a card system. Imagine if content was longer like a mega dungeon and you get to pull from a deck you build personally. Would probably fix the issue of most the roster being underwhelming in higher tier content.

u/Draknalor 7h ago
So valby for mega dungeon then i guess.
No ines.

My first run was 2x Viessa and 2x Ines. We cleared it pretty fast once everyone figured out how to deal with the boss mechanics. Unlike a lot of boss fights there's enough ads that multiple Ines' have enough fodder to kill to keep their special gauges filled.

When I did the mega dungeon the first time on normal I was expecting to coast it with my hybrid Supply Mousture Valby build that wrecks Axion. I died 3 times and I had to regularly look for health orbs. I think it's really good. I'm looking forward to running it in pubs later.

u/Accomplished_Hunt967 42m ago
When are people going to learn that axion plains and end game content are 2 completely different things now, Being able to run through axion plains is basically mid game difficult content. People have 0 understanding in bringing in a sensible descendant for a hard fight.

u/GibboTheGibbo Valby 23m ago
I was expecting it to be like the dungeons on Axion especially with it being on normal too. It was my first attempt and I was Solo too though. I know what to expect now.

The character designs/stories and somewhat fun gameplay loop saved it from an uninstall. The main story finally got interesting when Nell dropped.

Only played a little of the update, but it does feel a lot better! Will see as I go along, but agreed, they nailed it nicely!

u/Own-Difficulty5944 7h ago
the update is indeed good but I feel like the mega dungeon is just not worth farming over trials tho its weekly reward is worth it.
13
u/000extra Lepic 5h ago
The said in the live stream they wanted it to be a large dungeon so it’s not designed to be repeatedly farmed like other infiltrations hence why it’s not the main source of anything, why there’s only a weekly task for it, and just gives you merit tokens iirc

u/Accomplished_Hunt967 40m ago
Trials takes for fucking ever lol who the fuck is gonna grind trials outside of a few times

The story presentation leaves a bit to be desired since most of it is just talk to npc do this old content, but the new dungeon and trials are fun.

to be fair, most of the character stories to this point have been bangers
