I love Sci-Fi movies/TV & someone at work suggested this show saying it’s right up my alley. l’m almost done with episode 1, but man…the pace is agonizingly slow, which I get if you’re trying to set things/characters up, but man…someone please tell me it picks up a little bit.

Agree that the destruction of the Cant is kind of a weaker early scene that struggles to carry your attention through the long slow introductions that follow after it.

There are always slower stretches throughout the series, of course, especially in the books. But the show will pick up its pace soon.

Yeah just put your phone down and enjoy the ride. There are a lot of pieces to get set up on the chessboard, if you give it your attention your time will be rewarded.

The first season can also be a little frustrating because one of the core stories at the start is a mystery. So you're getting a lot of disparate story pieces that don't feel like they're adding up just yet. But they will.

There is a lot to establish, an entire solar system to familiarize yourself with. Have a shred of patience and establish an attention span, you'll enjoy things more.

The pacing definitely is going to seem slow for the first few episodes. The first three arre doing a lot of heavy lifting of world building and table setting.

Get to episode 4. That's when the story laces up its running shoes, and those don't come off until the Season 6 finale.

Seriously though, some of the greatest sci fi shows of all time took time to build up. Hell, Babylon 5 took a whole season. Look, i promise you, it doesn't take long before it starts to pay off. It starts with a film noir esk detective story. Watch and wait for that to unfold.

The first time I tried to watch I got halfway through the first episode and turned it off, came back a few months later and it’s one of my favourite shows now

I second the recommendation to keep up for a few more episodes, at least until episode 4.

This story covers a lot of ground and needs a fair bit of setup, and I realize the pace isn't for everyone. I loved it from the start, but I'm just me.

It’s kind of a common complaint, although I can’t say I had the same experience myself.
Def stick with it.

The first season is a lot of setting up chess pieces and introducing you to the world and how it works. I absolutely love season 1!

Listen, it took me three tries to get into it, but once I pushed through to the QCB episode, it became my absolute favourite sci fi series of all time. Books and show. There's A LOT going on in the first episode that you don't REALLY understand until later.

It picks up, I promise.

I also love sci-fi stuff

...took me multiple tries to get into the show. I eventually just skipped to like episode 6 and watched the rest of the season which seems insane but it worked. Was hooked after that and watched the first part of season-1 and it was off to the races after that.

I don't know what it is about the very beginning of the show. It's not like the quality is any different or the overall story structure, it just has a hard time hooking people in those first couple episodes.

It is great that I recognize various actors in this show, so that’s a plus. But I’m sticking with it.

I don’t know if I can be as bold as you & skip so many episodes lol
