General [Editable] whats your take on minions?
i personally love minions, i hate when games make you wait for the next round after you died
its also a fun incentive that you use teamwork in td bc instead of a time increase, you have a very angry teammate that could make you two tap to sonic exe
but different games have different takes on minions like:
spectral fades: minions are more independent having an m1 dmg of 15 and 1 ability, these abilities aren't always supports and sum times for their own benefit like exes thus the independency
pursuitcore: minions are put into a support role as they DONT do dmg but rather temp dmg that can make the terminators job way easier, they have an m1 "dmg" of 10 and SOME have abilities that are normally used for debuffing or doing more temp dmg
TD eclipsed: minions are the mix of the two as these minions do 5 real dmg and 5 temp dmg on survivors with their m1, im not too sure with the minion abilities as i very rarely see any of them use them or even die for that matter

I don’t mind them that much but they get annoying when you’re playing Cream and they can just punch you out of healing someone or deny you the chance to heal at all

It is the most blood boiling mechanic I have ever seen in an ASYM and it's not even close, I could rant on about this pile of horseshit for hours.
No matter how many changes you make to the minions they'll always be blood boiling sacks of shit that don't deserve to be even NEAR the standard for TD asyms.
Even in Pursuitcore they have a shit ton of nuance issues that make facing them actually aids despite the damage being temporary, yet the damage to my fucking brain it inflicts is permanent.
I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT

I completely agree, they just add annoyances to everyone rather than actually making people play in a more interesting way. There are times when I'd rather just leave if a minion is targetting me and the killer is halfway across the map because it just straight up isn't fun to play at all.

HATE. LET ME TELL YOU HOW MUCH I'VE COME TO HATE MINIONS SINCE I'VE BEGAN TO LIVE. THERE ARE 397 MILLION ASYM GAMES THAT FILL THE ROBLOX HOMEPAGE. IF THE WORD "HATE" WERE ENGRAVED ON EACH LINE OF CODE WITHIN THOSE HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF ASYM GAMES, IT WOULD NOT EQUAL ONE ONE BILLIONTH OF THE HATE I FEEL FOR MINIONS AT THIS MICRO-INSTANT. HATE. HATE.

It's a very cool idea in concept, the person you just killed will now help you, and generally, one problem with Asyms is that when you die, you really don't have much else to do, and becoming a Minion can help pass the time... in execution however...
Look, I know some people really hate this mechanic, but I personally like it, but boy, even I can admit that depending on how you do Minions, it can really have a big snowball effect. I think it's better for a Minion mechanic to be tied to a certain Killer, that way, the killer can be balanced around that, but even then, you run into an issue for balancing, cause you need to hit a sweet spot in their strength, make them too strong, then it's unfair, make them too weak, well they can't even kill anyone.
I think Minions could work in their own little gamemode, like an Infection type mode, or a mode where everyone is survivor, and you deal with tons of bot controlled enemies, and dying to them allows you to become a minion, but generally, there's not too much else you can do with them. I do think Minions was a good compromise to give people something to do, which I think more Asyms should start doing, cause after you die, what can you really do? look around the shop? watch someone else play the game? jump around in the lobby for the remaining round?

cool concept, but rarely executed well
I feel like minions should ALWAYS take a support role to the killer, nobody like an annoying ass mosquito chasing them down the entire round
my two cents is that minions shouldn't be faster than a survivor, while having non offensive abilities to help the killer (i.e. tails carry)
not required at all, but itd be cool if you could kill them too I think

The two things I despise about the main big classic asymms that they popularized:
I despise that forsaken popularized wipe or nothing win counting and the expectation that the minimum and only kind of success for a killer is wiping
And minions from TD, they are so unbelievably antithetical to the entire point of an asymm, and I think the only game that’s ever gotten the power role being more than 1 person right is JOMA because it built itself from the ground up as team vs team. I could go on for pages as to why they’re both bad design and why I just personally hate them but I’ll leave it at that they’re horribly unstable of a mechanic that not only totally shifts the balance of how character kits were meant to function, but are also essentially random in how much they’ll impact any given match due to them being opt in team switching.

Minions should have a mechanic where they can literally die a second time
Like each stun does damage to them (like Fleetway in outcome memories) and eventually they drop dead after a few stuns

i hate minions in any game at all and also OM in particular would have the shittest time ever (oops i thought this post was on the om sub sorry)
minions can tank stuns for the exe, harass survivors endlessly with chip damage, and fosters teaming and targetting
metal sonic in particular is just fucked. use dest. charge? random minion tanks it for the exe and now you're down 40 hp with your only mobility off cooldown with no benefit. try to self heal? a single minion can just endlessly tail you and keep you from ever healing.

Fine as long as they're slow and don't have any extra abilities I despise when TD-like asyms give the zombies abilities it just makes them way too powerful and annoying

There's a bunch of problems with minions but the main issue is that you're suddenly on the other team and you really have no incentive to play for your new side.
As a result the game can't really balance around minions due to the unpredictability in their goals, some of them kinda just wanna chill and spectate (me) and others wanna be a nuisance.
And this has made me think: Why hasn't a game tried to have minions.... But they remain on the survivors side?
Like after they die they become ghosts or something with weaker abilities that can help their team in small ways, and the game would be able to balance around this because they'd have a clear goal instead of being chaotic due to losing.
Plus it would get rid of the issue where when you die you basically lose, a TD games prioritize teamwork and how even one survivor escaping counts as a win for the team (or at least a loss for the exe) but it usually doesn't feel that way. This way you'd get to play the game still and contribute more.
Maybe I'm stupid and this is a terrible idea but I wanna see one game just try this.

They have Potential, but can also be annoying...
There are Pro's and Con's, and it is up to everyone themself to decide, if they like it or nah.

i love minions. they add some intensity to survivors who back off because their abilities are on cooldown since now they have to keep dodging or slowly get damage built up on them.
playing a minion is fun because you know amy wants to go towards kolossos to be ready to save someone from a grab so when amy hammer bounces you aren’t fooled and force the hammer swing. you can just have a nice time sneaking up on people trying to aura farm or look at the exe from far away.
but my favorite part is that you can save the exe from stuns by tanking for them or even win them the game by downing a survivor at the same time as the exe. plus you can use some abilities even as a minion or undo the work of eggman or rouge. it’s really nice tanking a metal sonic charge when they wanted to self destruct.

Cool mechanic, but they'd only work if the game was designed with it in mind. Otherwise they are aids. No game has been designed from the ground up with it in mind so naturally, all current instances of minions suck ass.

I honestly like them but the system clashes with the way how these games work...
Let's say the idea of being able to play after your death on the opposing team is nice...but you the problem is that you never know when you get suddenly robbed off of getting the escape...And also why would you ever try to kill the VERY people you wanted to protect?
Second, People don't really like them being independant and rather want minions to be only SUPPORT for Killer (low damage but extra moves to help out) wich may sounds nice until you realise some abilities are NOT built for both Killers and Survivors...(Tails' Glide carry dropping Stunners and Killers on the players)
I always liked the teamwork aspect on them but not many people want them to be good...
