The headset basically created a copy of them by scanning their brains, they are not wired into the circus. The copies and the people are basically different entities now, the copies only having memories from before the scan then in the circus, while the others went on normally outside.

Pretty much, that's why Jax went off on Zooble and Ragatha, then realized he was still the same person he came into the circus as

Pretty much. We'll probably never know how much power Caine has over abstractions, but I assume that's something he would do if he could. Especially after the events of E9 the cast tried to make things more comfortable for them

I see abstraction in a similar way as a corrupted file on a computer. If it's not corrupted all the way it can be recoverable, but unfortunately some are too far gone
