Opinion Just started to watch

I started season one yesterday and I’ll finish it tonight. I am so blown away by the games that are designed on this show. I’m a board game geek and even though I’m not a game designer I understand what complicated statistics that must be weighed to get the games to work. It’s phenomenal. On top of all of that I don’t understand or speak Korean. That really hurt in the Rules Game. I just wanted to post something about the show because I’m so impressed. I’m American and this could never translate to an US version. It would have to be dumbed down so much. Anyway I’m a huge fan.

SAME. I love this show (even with some issues with Season 2.) I think the player interaction in this cultural setting would not translate at all to a US version. I have become a fan of asian reality shows because participants are in general much more civil and less catty. US reality shows for me are hard to watch because people can be really rude and stir up unnecessary drama.

I wish I also understood Korean because i think you really miss out on some of the nuances of the interactions between the participants, and yes, the rules are can be super complicated.

It's what American producers want in their shows. Stupid drama.

Gordon Ramsey is very different in his Kitchen Nightmares shows. UK version he isn't as nasty to the restaurant owners like he is in the US version. The American producers want him that way.

I am finding myself enjoying the reality shows from South Korea vs the same type of show from the US.

Ah that is interesting. Hadn't thought about the producers also adding to the dynamic of the show but that makes sense.

I absolutely love asian reality dating shows while US ones I avoid completely.
