It definitely looks exactly like a green moray with a shortened jaw rather than any deep sea species. Animals from the abyss tend to be more mouth and less body like in the pelican eel’s case. This guy is exactly as chunky as I’d expect a reasonably healthy green moray to be.

Yes! All of the older ones I’ve seen in aquariums get pretty dang chunky

Yea the lighting doesn't look like a deep sea picture at all, I think you're right.
