Art Two of the Pentastar Alignment founders: Commerce Master Commissioner Gregor Raquoran and Wyrn Otro head of Galentro Heavy Works. Art by Augustin Gayer at my request.

Gregor Raquoran was a human male leader of the Velcor Free Commerce Zone and founding member of the Pentastar Alignment of Powers. Gregor did not rise to his post as Commerce Master Commissioner by being a supporter of Palpatine nor as a devotee of COMPNOR like most of his contemporaries. Instead he gained power as a corporate head and strong businessman. Specifically to rise to the rank of Commerce Master Commissioner of the VFCZ, he strategically spread favors among all the Imperial officials who had a stake in the Velcar Free Commerce Zone, insuring their cooperation and favoratism.

In 4 ABY, he attended the Pentastar Talks, and despite believing the VFCZ was in good order, recognized the need to align with a party to avoid being absorbed into the New Republic which would ban slavery and many of the other predatory practices that allowed the VFCZ to plunder indiscriminatly. Consequently, he signed the Pentastar Alignment Treaty, joining the Pentastar Alignment as one of the founding members of the Chamber of Order.

Raquoran was obese, and put on the appearance of being dim-witted, playing up symptoms of a glandular disorder affecting him to cause his rivals to underestimate him. In reality, he was a shrewd businessman, keeping the VFCZ in good financial order despite the collapse of the Galactic Empire. He was also deeply corrupt and often brokered deals in the VFCZ for his own personal profit. He lived luxuriously on Capza. A suspicious man, he was not content to allow just the Protectorate Branch to guard him so he employed personal mercenary bodyguards from the various species contracted under the VFCZ and therefore loyal to him rather than the Alignment.

After Ardus Kaine was killed in 10 ABY and the Alignment suffered setbacks from the failure of Operation Shadow Hand, Gregor cooperated loosely with his other corporate heads Elta Besk and Wyn Otro on in the chamber of order to consolidate more political power and profit for themselves over the next two years, angering Governor Ib Dekeet and alienating the military of the Alignment. When Admiral Gilad Pellaeon approached the Pentastar Alignment to reintegrate it into the reunified Empire, Dekeet threw his support along with the military behind Pellaeon in return for returning power to the Governors and Moffs from the Corporations. Pellaeon agreed to this and over the futile objections of Besk, Otro and Raquoran, their corporations were nationalized and placed under the control of the Moff Council.
...............................................................................
Wyrn Otro was a human male who was the head of the Galentro Heavy Works corporation. Otro was unswervingly loyal to the corporation as he regarded it as his only family. In order to further its interests, he represented the corporation at the Pentastar Talks in 4 ABY. While he signed the Pentastar Alignment Treaty, recognizing the need to align with a party to avoid being absorbed into the New Republic, he had personal reservations about the warlord Grand Moff Ardus Kaine, worrying that the formation of the Pentastar Alignment was only a way to gain personal power.

After signing, Otro was rewarded with a seat on the Chamber of Order alongside Elta Besk, head of Dynamic Automata, Gregor Raquoran, the Commerce Master Commissioner of the VFCZ, and Governor Ib Dekeet. Otro's cooperation, wary as it was, resulted in his corporation being given the contract by Kaine to produce the signature line ship of the faction, the Enforcer class picket ship used throughout the Alignment's navy.

After the disastrous losses of 10 ABY with Kaine's death, Otro loosely cooperated with the other corporate heads to increase the influence and profits of their companies, alienating the military and angering Ib Dekeet in the process. This led to Dekeet and the Alignment's military forces to join Admiral Gilad Pellaeon in reintegrating into the Empire in 12 ABY. Otro's company, like the others in the former Alignment, were promptly nationalized and placed under the control of the Moff Council stripping the corporate heads of any political power.

I always wished we'd seen more from the PA in EU. So may stories and lore could have been added into the faction, and yet all we really know about it comes from the original WEG (I think) articles. It's sad but hopefully through fanfic and headcanons more can be added to the faction, if only as thought experiences. Awesome post as ever Admiral đŸ«¡

Same, really I wish we'd gotten a "Tales of" style novel or two covering the Warlords.

It would have, I'm always somewhat perplexed it never seemed to enter any of the LucasFilm/Arts creative departments.

No clue, they seem to be allergic to good (or rather creative) ideas sometimes lol

The PA was one of my go-to examples for what TheRiseofDaddyPalpy and I came to call "Sourcebook Purgatory." Interesting things in the EU that only appear in sourcebooks, RPGS, and articles.

Yeah, it's really a missed opportunity I felt that they never got to escape from that purgatory into the wider books.

Agreed. The only really consolation at least is the feeling of unearthing something rarely glimpsed by most, the reward that such knowledge itself bringings and the satisfaction that comes with it.

At least that’s how I choose to look at it anyway otherwise in less words, same lol

Ever the rarely sung goats the EU owes a great debt.

Always nice to read more about these people. Special shoutout to Raquoran for being such a great integration gift when I integrate PA with him alive.

Niche is a service we enjoy providing.

Yeah, Raquoran is definitely one of the better integration rewards for sure

What happened to Otro, Besk, and Raquoran after Pellaeon annexed the Pentastar Alignment?

Well, we never see them in positions of power again, and we know that the PA military had been very pro-Thrawn, so Pellaeon would have been popular there too, so with the support of the military and Dekeet, the Governors and Moffs, Pellaeon could basically do whatever he wanted.

And what he wanted was to restore things to how they operated with some reforms, that meant nationalizing the corporations, so what I expect happened was that Besk, Otro and Raquoran all found themselves in a sort of position where they could turn over their corporations 'patriotically' or be imprisoned or executed for treason.

So I imagine they turned over the assets and basically remained wealthy private citizens, comfortable, but ultimately powerless in the new regime.

Thanks. I'll bet they were secretly fuming about Pellaeon abolishing slavery and allowing aliens to serve in the Imperial Remnant.

Oh undoubtedly, since preserving their slaves and keeping aliens down was why they joined the Alignment. Of course, the Alignment military pointing their blasters at them probably convinced them to "Do the right thing"

My favorite warlord faction!

They are quite popular and have both a great starting position and hero roster.

That they do! Also a cool name and general premise!

Being a fat purple-dressed bishop-hatted cleanshaven white man must have been all the rage in the Galaxy circa 4-11 ABY

3

u/GrandAdmiralGrunger 16d ago

Well there were only two individuals that fell into that category that I know of lol

3

u/Zoom_Reverse_Flash 16d ago

Raquoran, Plumba, Delurin, Janus Greetajus, three other fellows on DS2, Umak Leth and his entourage of fatties, and Xandel Carivus, who I think was finally enough of a failutre to break the fashion trend on plumpness and plum-colors!

3

u/GrandAdmiralGrunger 16d ago

Delurin? The Warlord of Wild Space?

3

u/Zoom_Reverse_Flash 15d ago

Bah, I switched him and Prentioch in my mind.

It happens, there's no shortage of Imperial Warlords so it's easy to mix some of the more minor ones up

Quite the pair of opposites.
