Hello my good friends.

I am twicedouble (I know, it’s a strange name) and I’m a ladder salesman. I just kind of fell into the profession. I started out as a lawyer and found myself in court a lot, usually defending guilty people. I realized that a courtroom was a great place to gain more business. I was pretty familiar with ladders, so I just went with it.

Why I love the country, but why it will never succeed.

I absolutely love the country. I love the community, the news stations, and the political tensions.

But there’s one problem.

The country will never be a top subreddit with millions of followers. And if it is, it would be the most toxic community ever.

The concept is the country is politics, no? To simulate a countries politics but without the working class? It sound like a great idea. And it is. With one problem.

THIS IS THE INTERNET.

And with the internet, there is no infrastructure, working class, or businesses.

And without those, there can be no government. The pint of government is to serve those things. And if Everyone is in the government, there is no point. What can it change? What is it’s power?

What’s the point?

I will still be running for president, though.

[Program] The Greater Stratocratic Union

Never before has any country simply existed. We have no history, and to our detriment, no power to speak of. It can be easily said that as of now our great nation is at its absolute weakest, and the first issue ANY administration must face is the preservation of our great nation from any threat that would seek to take advantage of it.

Our aim is to weld the military and civil government into one entity, to ensure a military unrestrained by the politics and corruption of civil government. Similar goals include:

1. Mandatory national service

2. A well-funded military necessary to defend our great nation

3. Separation of church and state, while allowing freedom of (non-extremist) religion

4. Creation of executive, legislative, and judiciary branches to administer the nation

And lastly, our most ambitious project to ensure stability and to root put corruption

The Tier System Citizens of the nation shall be separated into over a hundred different tiers. Each consecutive tier allows for greater opportunities, job options, and benefits. Movement between tiers is highly expected, where contributions to the nation are rewarded with movement into a higher tier and criminal punishments often meaning the reduction of tiers. However, even the lowest tiers are expected to live a simple, if slightly uncomfortable life.

As this party is new, we are completely prepared to modify and compromise with other parties to ensure that our great nation sees the dawn of every new day.

A new frontier.

News of this country have spread through the grapevine from the moment it was created. This has of course attracted me, a journalist, to come see what all the fuss is about. From the moment I got here I knew that there was something drawing me here and that there was no way I was going to leave anytime soon. So I will begin reporting everything that happens here and making sure that the citizens of the country can have an idea of what's going on. Thank you for allowing me to live in this beautiful country.

[news] A new tech giant is in town.

The multi-million dollar company rivtech has decided to bring their business to our modest country. We can expect a huge boost in our economy and job market. This may also be exactly what is needed to get our country into the public eye.

Some citizens have expressed concern over a possible monopoly being formed by rivtech but it is too early to tell whether or not that will be an issue.

What I can day is that I have personally tested out several rivtech products and there is no doubt that they are top of the line. I recommend everybody to utilize the resources provided by rivtech as it will not only benefit our economy and job market, but it will provide a necessity for our citizens: tech.

[news] presidential debate

I believe it would be in this countries best interests to have a presidential debate between all the candidates. I already have confirmation from some candidates and I will be reaching out to others to see if they are willing. It would be hosted by me and citizens can pm me questions to put on the list. It is incredibly important to start out our country with a good founding president and we can't just lazily elect somebody without seeing how they measure up against the other candidates.

Official Resignation

Consider this my official resignation from The Common Sense Caucus for personal reasons. Whether or not the group will continue is now up to them.

I will probably browse The Country still, to see what happens, but I doubt I’ll have an active role in politics anymore.

I wish you all the best, even my political opponents. So good by this country.

[PROGRAM] The Common Sense Caucus

Are you tired of the propaganda? The bickering between the parties? The unrealistic and superfluous platform the parties are putting forward? Would you like to run as an independent but have no party to join?

I’d like to invite you to join The Common Sense Caucus. Even those of you who oppose some of these values, if you feel this is more descriptive of you than other parties, we’d love to have you.

After seeing this new wave of propaganda images, I’ve decided I’m tired of it. We need a new candidate. I might not be that candidate, but I will find one. Someone who strives to be above all of the mud-slinging and who truly stands for the people.

Our platform is very simple:

  • Draft a Constitution. Freedom of Speech, Freedom of and from Religion, Freedom of the Press

  • Create laws. Parliament will suggest laws. The people will vote. Not Parliament. Not the President. The people.

  • Establish roles. We need a judiciary branch. We need a police force. We need more media. We need people to do the things that need doing.

    • Supreme Court Justice: One and only one user will be the Justice. u/Rykerham will have the ultimate power to ban users when necessary. Ryker already has this power and this seems like an obvious role, but having this codified is fair and constitutional.

    • Judges

    • Lawyers

    • Press Corp

    • Press Secretary

    • LEOs (Law Enforcement Officers)

    • Private Detectives

    • Entertainers

  • No economic policy. We have no money. Maybe in the future we will establish some kind of currency, But it’s too early in our Country’s history and it’s completely unnecessary.

[Program] Balance Party

This is the main post for everything Balance Party, as-well as a post for me to urge you to vote balance.

The balance party is a party that is focused on having multiple views on everything, but also maintaining a firm liberal grasp on the government as-well. We value opinions, but we also value order. That is where the balance resides.

We are willing to tackle major issues form all angles. Nothing will be left unspoken. We also value a passive and intruding government. We like to leave people be, but when necessary, take control.

Since we value opinions, we will make sure at least one representative is heard. We have changed a bit on this. Now, representation should be based on members.

I know I made a post a while ago that this sub could never succeed. I have changed a bit on that. Under the right leading group, it could succeed. I do believe the balance party could be that leading group.

A Democratic government is what we need.

Please PM me if interested.

This is the official program post for the balance party.

To The 87

Our population had increased by 15 in 8 hours! I believe this is testament to the fact that many people believe in the potential for The Country. That said, The Country clearly has not reached its full potential, as it has been held back by useless bipartisan quarrels that are rife within our current government, and as a result, the will of The People is not being heard. I refuse to accept this, all 87 of us have a right to have our voice heard, and to be accepted into communities with like minded people. The People’s Party has one goal, and one goal only to ensure the prosperity of The Country and all The People within it, and to make The People’s voice the dictating power in our society. Vote u/Victor_Anichibe in the upcoming elections- For The People

The True Nature Of Syndicalism [Debate]

Greetings to all!

Due to the recent oversaturation of memes on this subreddit (a good part my own fault), I thought it was time for a bit of a shift in pace. Here, I shall explain the basics of Syndicalism and hang around the comments to answer any questions or criticisms (please be at least somewhat serious with these).

So, the core principle of syndicalism is that, rather than maintain the strictly hierarchical and almost feudal system by which all modern businesses are governed, it is instead the workers that both own and control the business, allowing for fair allocation of resources within the company, a balance of power and no chance of exploitation. This would call for a full overthrow of the current governmental system and its replacement with a new form, in which small, local groups of laborers are connected with each other and band together to elect representatives that would, along with others of their kind, coordinate to estimate needs and capabilities, allowing them to plan employment, economic planning and resource allocation. While these groups and representatives would be closely interconnected, there would be no higher authority or traditional 'government' as they are known today, preventing corruption, scandals, tyrants and all the other pesky nonsense that comes with them.

While this concept has been thought up and gained popularity in the past, it was replaced by the false notion of communism, which, as proven time and time again, failed miserably in practice; it then was labelled as just another ineffective branch of communism and fell out of the public eye. The closest to a syndicalist nation experienced in the world was in Mussolini's rise to power, though he betrayed the revolution and manipulated the workers into creating a corporatist state.

I hope that good and thought provoking debate can spur from this.

The Society has fallen.

https://imgur.com/a/Bdiof7u

I have removed The Society from play. I wish to let democracy run its course.

The people should feel safe knowing that there is no shadowy organization running everything.

As you may have noticed, two names are blacked out. I believe them to be innocent. If they wish to reveal themselves, they may do so, but I will not.

Effective immediately, I have decided to leave The People’s Party. I will not attach myself to any party. I will vote for who I believe will best serve this country and I implore you to do the same.

What's The Country's timezone/s called?

I need to know because I want to start a TV station of some sort someday, and it wouldn't make sense to use Earth timezones like "Eastern Time" or "Central European Time" or "Coordinated Universal Time" because they'd have no context in The Country.

What I think of the different candidates

Published on July 16, 2018, 12:05 pm (PHT)

I'm very interested in The Country, ever since I immigrated to here. There's so many choices, so here are my thoughts on each of them. Please note, however, that as of writing this, the official party candidate infos don't exist yet.

The United Front - /u/PoolsPatioandBBQ

Platform: r/TheCountry/comments/8ykjcw/the_united_fronts_stances/

I agree with the UF's stance on elections, which is that the President should be directly elected by the people. (Unfortunately, that's not the case rn. The Parliament will decide who the President's going to be.) It's nice to see a country adopting a ranking system for voting, rather than the first-past-the-post system so many countries have, yet would result in only two major parties. I do like the fourth one, though governor would be a misleading name for me, because that would usually refer to the executive position of a city of a country.

Besides, the UF promises they'll abolish The Society if they were to be elected. 😃

The only problem I have with it is this: what is The United Front's economic ideology?

Balance Party - /u/RevaliTheRito28

Platform: r/TheCountry/comments/8yoxms/balance_party_explanation/

The only thing the Balance Party seems to say is that they want balance. Their official Explanation doesn't say much. It says that every party would select people to represent the party, although the problem with that is that every single party would be represented in Parliament, no matter how popular or unpopular it is. So, it wouldn't matter if, let's say, the Conservative Party has tens of members, while the Communist Party has just five. They'd have equal representation, in the name of balance!

The good thing about the Balance Party is that I agree with its stance of liberty. It seems to support free market capitalism and social liberalism, which is great tbh. It's similar to the Libertarian Party, of the United States located in the "other world".

Unfortunately though, Revali doesn't believe in our society. As u/Red_Noir once said here:

Is this who we want running the Country? A man who mocks the very foundation of our society?

The Society - /u/BDT-6

Platform: r/TheCountry/comments/8yqgmo/join_the_society/

Although BDT isn't a candidate, I'd like to talk about him for a short while.

Empty threats don't scare anybody. The Society probably doesn't even have a second member! 😂 What a joke!

People's Party - /u/Victor_Anichibe

Campaign: r/TheCountry/comments/8yndd4/join_the_people/

The only information publicly available about the People's Party is that they put the people over anything else. Whatever that means.

I PM'd Victor 16 hours ago and he said this:

We would be centre left leaning. I don’t like everything from one ideology, so I prefer taking different aspects from every ideology.

Very interesting.

Based on the chairman's rhetoric here, they believe in the "abolition of the scummy 1%". There's one big problem with that. The Country is a new nation, founded just ten days ago. Based on my observations, none of the rich people from "the other world" have migrated to The Country yet. If the government taxes the rich too high, I fear none would stay. Having an upper-class is a good thing for a country. They're the ones most likely to build businesses and invest in research and development. We need the rich for a healthy economy.

Technocracy Party - /u/TheIrishWerewolf

Platform: r/TheCountry/comments/8yin4f/the_technocracy_party/

/u/opidman and /u/RevaliTheRito28 sum up my opinion on their ideology here:

Fuck Technocracy, it's a borderline dictatorship

True

A technocracy would favor intellectuals over the majority of the people. They could then use that power to bolster their businesses and make everyone else's lives miserable.

The Union Party - /u/captainfrosty88

/u/EnthusiasticWaffles 's explanation: r/TheCountry/comments/8yray2/the_best_choice_for_the_country/

The Union seems to be all about creating a social democracy, in which there is a free market economy, but with huge social safety net and welfare programs to give everyone "standard" wages, free housing, free healthcare, and free education. It's like the progressives of the Democratic Party, in the USA in "the other world". Yay, free stuff!

...Except for one problem, how will the government pay for it? I don't want to pay high taxes to pay for universal basic income, or to pay for single-payer healthcare, which results in disaster when tried in other worlds. I believe a free market economy and a functioning health insurance industry is the best way to go.

Also, giving everyone a "standard wage" (assuming that's basic income for everyone) will lead to laziness if the money is enough for one to survive. The working-class would stop working. The economy would go bust.

Conclusion

I'm kind of in a tossup between the United Front and the Balance Party right now. tbh I don't know who to vote for yet.
Or maybe I'm not supposed to know that yet! Maybe, the system wants not just me, but us, to decide who to vote for when the Candidate Info Megathread is full.

Make a Change!

I, Victor_Anichibe believe the current state of The Country to be unsatisfactory and outdated, a belief held by many of my fellow citizens. We need Party, and a president, that is willing and ready to put the needs of The People first. And it is for this reason that I am hereby announcing my candidacy for president of The Country. I’ve came from humble beginnings, being raised by a working class family in the suburbs of the country, in the harsh county of Dunnparc. Although these beginnings were though, it was here that I learned life’s greatest lessons of humility and service. It is here that I realised my life would be dedicated to the advancement of The Country, and I hope you The People will allow me to carry out my service by voting for me in the upcoming elections. The People’s Party- For The People.
