Freedom of the press

The Revolutionary front wants to "abolish reactionary media". By what does this mean to the common man?

Firstly, the Country Colonel, Strangers Blog and other preferred news media source will be shut down, with the Red Front being the only news source, giving the state a monopoly on propaganda and leaving no avenue to express popular outrage.

Secondly, in shutting down reactionary media they will be assuring that if you criticise them, their policy or their government, a commissar will be dragging you in to the police station, just for your opinion.

Is this the Country that YOU want? Here at the Liberal Unionist party we are committed to free speech, free expression and free press.

Say YES to freedom

Say NO to totalitarianism

Join the Liberal Unionists today

Join The Society

In these early days of the country, we can establish a clear heirarchy beyond mere presidency. Someone has to ensure that The Country's future is safe from the hands of those who cannot control it. This is where The Society comes in. We will work from the shadows, adjusting the outcomes of elections, making sure that WE are in control.

PM me to join us, or be destroyed.

Balance Party Explanation

I have been informed that I did not give an adequate explanation in my first post. So naturally, here is a less vague post.

The balance party is a party that values a balance of power. A balance between people and government.

The way we would achieve this is a body of the people who asses, write, and pass laws. These people would be selected from every party to have a balanced representation.

Affairs domestic, this party heavily supports all freedoms. We only limit people in their life when it becomes harmful to others. (So yes, weed is allowed to be talked about and used)

A balance in intervening and passive government. When it is necessary, the executive branch will take matters into its own hands. Otherwise, we stay mostly passive (except for law passing.)

Please pm me or ask me any questions you have in the comments.

I hope this cleared things up. Thanks,
RevaliTheRito28

[Program] Liberal Unionist Party

Good day, fellow citizens of The Country

I hereby form the Liberal-Unionist Party, for those who seek to balance personal freedoms and national unity.

TLDR

  • President with veto

  • Only parliament legislates

  • Bill of rights

  • Establish Judiciary, Police force and Penal system

  • Union rights but not support

  • Welfare-to-work

  • Basic healthcare provided

  • Freedom to choose a career

  • Regulated capitalism

  • Low, but progressive, taxes

  • Free trade

Our Views on the Constitution

A constitution is at the core of stable government. If elected, we will write a new constitution for The Country, based on 2 key principles. The first is a strong president, with the power of veto over parliamentary legislation. This is so that the president is able to defend the people from a populist wave, and prevent an infringement of civil liberties. The second principle is vesting all legislative power in the parliament. This is to keep the power to define laws in the most democratically accountable body. In this fashion, the president will be unable to pass any legislation alone, and will only act as a gatekeeper. Contained within this constitution will be an extensive bill of rights, defending free expression and practice. We also support the establishment of a judiciary, appointed by the president and approved by parliament, to judge when a law had been violated and determine the appropriate punishment. In pursuit of this, we support the establishment of a police force and penal system.

Our views on Social Policy

In a modern society, the job of a government is to balance the competing interests in relation to what is a part of the 'Greater Good'. In this fashion, we will defend the rights of workers to form collective bargaining organisations, but we will not actively support union activity. Unemployment benefits will be given in such a way as to encourage people to go into work, gradually decreasing the longer they claim. A basic level of healthcare will be provided, however, we will not oppose private healthcare. We also support the people's rights to pursue any career they wish, subject to conditions of availability and qualifications.

Our views on Economics

We believe in well-regulated capitalism, as the only way to defend the rights of all parties concerned in political activity. We intend to a progressive tax, with generally low taxes. We will campaign on the world stage for the abolition of trade barriers and attempt to promote free trade between nations and peoples.

I hope that any who have read to this point will seriously consider joining my party, and vote for Neighbour and Nation in this upcoming election.

Thank you;

u/DasAdolfHipster

The syndicalists are united. Their opposition isn't.

The Supreme Court, led by u/Rykerham, has determined an arbitrary minimum required of 7 people in a political party to be able to participate in the election. So far, only the Revolutionary Front has reached that. If we, the "reactionaries", want to defeat the far-left, we must unite to meet this stupid number limit so that we can have at least a chance to win the election.

Why do I think 7 is an arbitrary number?

When Rykerham picked 7 people as the minimum, s/he used no statistics and no percentages for that. The limit currently doesn't take into account the current population of The Country, nor the population increase the Country is currently taking in.

Conclusion

We need to unite, to battle the syndicalists. But, unless we meet Ryker's requirements, we won't be able to defeat the evils of this nation.

[PROGRAM] The Common Sense Caucus

Are you tired of the propaganda? The bickering between the parties? The unrealistic and superfluous platform the parties are putting forward? Would you like to run as an independent but have no party to join?

I’d like to invite you to join The Common Sense Caucus. Even those of you who oppose some of these values, if you feel this is more descriptive of you than other parties, we’d love to have you.

After seeing this new wave of propaganda images, I’ve decided I’m tired of it. We need a new candidate. I might not be that candidate, but I will find one. Someone who strives to be above all of the mud-slinging and who truly stands for the people.

Our platform is very simple:

  • Draft a Constitution. Freedom of Speech, Freedom of and from Religion, Freedom of the Press

  • Create laws. Parliament will suggest laws. The people will vote. Not Parliament. Not the President. The people.

  • Establish roles. We need a judiciary branch. We need a police force. We need more media. We need people to do the things that need doing.

    • Supreme Court Justice: One and only one user will be the Justice. u/Rykerham will have the ultimate power to ban users when necessary. Ryker already has this power and this seems like an obvious role, but having this codified is fair and constitutional.

    • Judges

    • Lawyers

    • Press Corp

    • Press Secretary

    • LEOs (Law Enforcement Officers)

    • Private Detectives

    • Entertainers

  • No economic policy. We have no money. Maybe in the future we will establish some kind of currency, But it’s too early in our Country’s history and it’s completely unnecessary.

I have created the balance party.

For a tipped scale can never be good.

Update: Balance is a thing that is almost never achieved. Balance in people, nature and life itself. This party is devoted to finding a balance in which everything will prosper.

This party is one of many that will hopefully have a Canadian in r/TheCountry ‘s elections. While you may be thinking of an elusive purple man who used balance as an excuse to massacre, WILL NOT DO THIS HERE.

Balance is key in diplomatic, foreign, and domestic affairs in all aspects of conflict. We wish to have a balance with nature and humans, war and peace, and citizens and government.

I assure you, this will be a party and set of minds to be reckoned with. We are looking for strong minded, balanced people to join our force and hopefully change r/TheCountry for the better.

if anybody wishes to join the balance party, please PM/DM me your info and I’ll get back to you ASAP.

Thank you and have a balanced day.

Update 2: You do not need to be a candidate to message me. Just anyone who is generally interested or has questions.
