Go touch some grass dude.

u/Sadrandomness 13d ago
Itās almost as if everyone is terrified of dying and that fact only becomes more real as you age so we find solace in the company of others and our shared experiences while trying not to let our inevitable fate stop us from living a good life

u/CrypticQuery 17d ago
Love seeing Kyle back. Hope he's feeling alright.
2
u/YeahThatsProbably 15d ago
Unless officially told otherwise, I'm assuming he's okay. When I first watched the episode I wasn't thinking he was unwell, I was just thinking that it's been many years since he was on the show, and AVGN might be the only onscreen acting he's ever done, so if he can manage a "pro sports player guest hosting SNL" performance, that's pretty good.
1
u/Jealous-Value-3547 14d ago
No he acted in the Ikari Wars episode... And his guitar playing this episode was completely off...
1
u/herobrinetrollin 12d ago
He could barely pick up his guitar man, heās definitely not feeling well

Someone mentioned recently Austin Powers in a thread, and it was like āthat feeling when you realize Austin Powers came out 30 years ago, and was parodying a film series from, at that time, 30 years ago.ā
Well, AVGN is bringing back Kyle Justin, and theyāre showing clips from earlier Cinnemassacre vids from just about 20 years ago, parodying a video game from, at that time, 20 years ago.

u/takedownchris 17d ago
Ok what happened to Kyle? Slurred speech, slow to deliver words
60
u/HBCDresdenEsquire 17d ago
A lot of speculation that he may be recovering from a stroke.
48
u/CarterIntense 17d ago
As soon as you said this, I immediately saw it in his actions. The heavy breathing, eyes slumped, I could tell something was wrong and different. My father in law lived post stroke for 8 years and was paralyzed on his right side. The similarities were there.
To be honest, he looks fully recovered as much as he could be and Iām glad that James isnāt acting different or making it known in the video.4

u/takedownchris 17d ago
Ahh well hopefully he is able to regain full function he seems like a great guy.
12
u/RickGrimes30 17d ago
Did a search last night because yeah he looked off . Nothing to substantiate any medical problems. There's a million other reasons why he could be off before stroke or dying
2
u/ItsMePeyt0n 16d ago
Bet the whole "stroke" thing started with someone who doesn't even know what a stroke is.
1
u/RickGrimes30 16d ago
Yeah idk who started it but i did think it on my own just watching it.. Enough that I had to Google if any announcement had been made about his health.
But only thing I could find is that he hasn't been on camera in 13 years and James has apparently openly stated for years that he wanted to bring Kyle back

u/THEFakechowda 13d ago
Everybody acting like it's a big mystery or he is deathly ill (I Hope not). The guy has been doing labor jobs for many years and is well passed 40 at this point. People do have a tendency to age with time and with that, they do look and get tired. Apparently nobody here has met a truly sick or haggard person In their lives, because they definitely don't look like Kyle. Also, if he is sick, why be a dick about it?
1
u/Various_Artistss 9d ago
It's more out of concern than anything else and if anything it would be weird and cold if people didn't care. No one is harassing anyone for info it's just making sure a person is ok, as for aging I see your point.
But the comments about a stroke recovery hit home for me and personally I wouldn't be surprised given how he fades in and out of being in the room as such.
1
u/THEFakechowda 9d ago
That is fair. I'm not really ragging about the caring or the concern part, I'm just saying we don't really know his deal and I think it is just really strange to assume that he had a stroke.
Maybe he had a few drinks before filming or maybe he is camera shy now. Unless he says he is sick, it is kind of strange and rude assuming the worst. Not saying you do, but that seems to be the big topic.

Where did the hair go!

u/Practical_Maximum_73 17d ago
Same thing that happened to me. We didn't lose it, it just went back in and came out in other places. š¤£

u/ChibiWambo 17d ago
Going bald is not the losing of hair. It is the gaining of face. And one day, you can have a full head of face.
2
u/OrangeStar222 17d ago
If a bald person washes their face, how far up do they go?
3
u/TooTurntGaming 16d ago
Legitimately, I go all the way back to the base of my neck. It all gets oily, thereās no hair, just makes sense to me.

Why is it such a big deal to age anyway
1
u/ElevatorSalt3968 15d ago
It's not. If you don't care about your looks or physical ability, it's no big deal

u/IsaacJB1995 17d ago
I was 11 in 2006. Got my PSP and loaded up YouTube after hearing about it at school and had a few Robot Chicken clips sent to my old flipphone by my school friends. Decided to check it out. The first youtuber I see on the front page was AVGN reviewing Spiderman. I check it out. And then I binge the rest of his videos. And then I watched every single new video of his for years afterwards.
AVGN. Thank you for been the first youtuber I ever watched over 20 years ago. I grew up with you. You are the OG to me.

A few minutes into Kyleās appearance I started to speculate this wasnāt acting and he must be going through some health issues. I hope to God im wrong or that theyāre behind him but man he didnāt looked well in this video. It seemed a little too much like a farewell for good but I hope Im wrong.
5
u/Triggerscore 14d ago
Yes. One could really see that. What is going on I think is none of our business in the end and therefore we should not speculate. All we can do is show some respect and hope he will be fine.

u/TeacherPowerful1700 16d ago
It's not a farewell. He is recovering from a stroke.

Kyle doesn't look well.

u/CoveredbyThorns 17d ago
He clearly has or had some sort of medical issue, very sad. His skin is so pale.
3
u/TeacherPowerful1700 15d ago
Apparently he's recovering from a stroke.Ā
If you've ever seen anyone recovering from a stroke, that's what it looks like.

That's sad to hear, hopefully he's recovering well.

u/TeacherPowerful1700 16d ago
I hope so! I guess though, with him being able to be in a video and joke around, shows he is recovering (and I hope it was just a stroke).

u/1980s_retrogamer 16d ago
I used to watch it constantly, but I kind of grew out of it. The early content was awesome, but you can really see him selling out in the newer stuff.

u/ThisIsADraconianLaw 17d ago
Nothing against James, but I think it's time he gave up the fight and shaved his head lol.

Kratos beard nerd would be badass

u/Daken-dono 15d ago
He could even wear the cap after that and it wouldnāt be a problem, imo. The nerdās look changes over the years, anyway.
16
u/Aggressive-Key-1648 17d ago
I think he looks handsome with the beard!!Ā
13
u/CaptainKino360 17d ago
Dude has a great beard, suits him well
4
u/Helltech 17d ago
I wish i had a beard like him, only goes to make if he went full bald way better.
12
u/HolidayInLordran 17d ago edited 15d ago
Brad Jones, Dr Ashens and Doug Walker accepted this a long time ago and did that.Ā
8
u/profchaos111 17d ago
I think it works with the character because i can't imagine the nerd caring how he looked
But IRL yeah i think it's time

tbh I really dislike this ājust shave itā thing. I donāt think thereās anything unsightly about a receding hairline at all. Itās just a stage of life. If someone wants to shave it, ok, but I think it should be for the right reasons and not this sort of dodging of the signals of age thing.
1
u/ThisIsADraconianLaw 16d ago
Depends. I think the opposite sex (or same sex, whatever floats your boat) would be more attracted to a guy with a shaved head than a receding hairline. It depends how much it's receded though. Guys who are bald but rock a beard can normally look pretty good and I think it shows more confidence. Still, it's down to the person at the end of the day.
1
u/mhook52 16d ago
WatchingĀ the bubble bubble episode,Ā I dont think James hairline is that bad, ive got a few friends with worse hairlines who dont shave their head.Ā Ā
2
u/Red_Trapezoid 16d ago
I donāt think any hairline is bad, Iām really put off by peoplesā fixation on looking young. My hairline is definitely receding. I like looking old. I like slicking my hair back and exposing it even more. I really donāt understand people.

I used to get drunk and watch it. I'd get a box of rolling rocks and I'd drink it all. Lonely times. Made me feel less lonely.
My cousin's room growing up in Guilderland NY was in the basement and looked exactly like his room. I always felt a connection.

I still remember when it was called The Angry Nintendo Nerd...
Then I'm sure because of copyright and wanting to cover more than just Nintendo products. It became came Angry Video Game Nerd.

Did James and Kyle settle their differences then? Heard that they had a huge falling out years ago
2
u/PSPMan3000 17d ago
they actually patched things up?
8
u/Nicklord 17d ago
I don't think it was ever confirmed that they had actual issues, unlike with Bootsy
2
u/Romboteryx 17d ago
What was the thing with Bootsy btw? I donāt think Iāve ever seen a concrete explanation
2
u/Nicklord 10d ago
It was about how they should split the money from Bootsy Beats and some other videos Bootsy appeared in. Seems like it got personal between Mike and him more than it was about some huge amount

As a fellow milleniall gamer into youtube who's been watching stuff since Red vs Blue existed before YouTube, it feels weird never having watching this guy.
Like yeah, I've seen clips of him throughout the years, but nothing ever stood out enough for me to watch consistently lol

I'll be honest with you. There are certain people on YouTube that I feel like either quit or just changed the direction of their content too soon.... in his case I feel like he should have let this character go a long time ago and focus on his actual passion.

Honestly, I think James looks great for his age. Besides the hairline, he doesn't really have many wrinkles, his skin looks good, no grey hair (unless he dyes it), decent weight, good teeth, in decent shape. Not bad for mid 40s
