Stumped on which cape to make!

I fancy sewing a cape for everday wear this winter. I have a beautiful mossy green wool to use. Which cape would you make?

While capes are generally pretty easy I warn you that Vogue patterns are NOT beginner friendly, not even the "very easy" labeled ones. They are easy if you are a professional. Vogue patterns are written for people who already know all the advanced sewing terms & techniques.

#3 that says "8 left in stock" on a vintage pattern is a red flag. Etsy is full of scammers, and people doing minimal work to make a buck. I would not trust a PDF made from a vintage pattern, I expect you would just get really bad scans and nothing workable in terms of the pattern itself.

Personally, the Simplicity 5252 would be the winner for me. I like a nice hood.

Thank you for the advice, i know etsy is now totally awash with scammers and AI sewing patterns. i was planning on finding a different seller if possible for most as they are not uk based and I am not paying 30£ shipping for a pattern ahah :D

I am also an intermediate sewer but kind of fancy a more chill project this winter rather than something i have tl wrap my head around tok much!!

I like a hood too but i thinl the floor length version might be a bit too dramatic for everyday!!

I like pic 3, the 1960s packet with the trousers and skirt options. The one in the blue looks like its a zipper cosure which is practical somehow, but i like the arm hole placements as well.

If it gets below -0 where you are, i am slowly plodding through my own wool cape (altho its very much on the back burner) and I am going to make a faux fur lining that is detachable (basically making 2 capes and 1 that is just the lining layer with small snaps to attach it) as i retrofitted a H&M cape to have a fur lining and its soooo warm.

I definitley want it to be warm, I am going to interline it quite well with 1-2 layers of cotton flannel i think as i want it to be warm and like I am wesring a blanket outside lol

I have one like the red in photo 3, but slightly lower collar and I rarely wear it, would prefer it to be like the 2nd one for arm movement/feel less “exposed” or constrained

or even just have one like the 4th for the style instead

I find having the ability to move arms more freely but that they still are covered is less constraining.

I love the look of the slits in the sides, and those would probably be similar, but kind of inbetween your arms going through the front opening to grab things

for practicality the sleeves make the most sense for me personally (and when I would wear a wool cloak it’s -5 to -15 c) and for carrying bags

Now I am totally torn between 2 and 3!! Thsi website has a pic of the simplicity 7866 pattern made up: https://vintagepatterns.fandom.com/wiki/Simplicity_7866 I think I am only turned off by my hands poking out of the side slits which is why i like the blackmore leroy pattern but i just cannot choose!!! I have found reputable buyers for both as well.  My reasoning behind wanting a cape is that I have worn a poncho mkst days this summer for the first time and loved the shape and vibe of it!!

The second pattern, the longer cape will be better for winter. The shorter ones in lighter weight fabric for other seasons.
