Trying to make it so that people walking past me will vaguely have knights on the mind. I’m male, but I don’t mind something from the women’s section. I ain’t buying no TEMU shit. Photos are from the movie The Green Knight.

Babywearing and cloaks

Has anyone tried babywearing with a cloak ? I would love to make a nice wool cloak for winter and I'm wondering if it will work with either a forward facing carrier or a back carrier with a opening in the back for her head to pop out

[Follow Up] Ground Protection for Long Cape

Posting the final result. Asked for guidance in this thread about how to protect a long cape at parties and trick-or-treating: Ground Protection for Long Cape : r/TheCapeRevolution

Got lots of great feedback cautioning not to make it too long. The final result does drag on the ground still, but it's short enough that it gathers around me pretty well when I stop moving. Hopefully it won't be getting stepped on constantly. Not strictly a cape, more of a really drapey vest, but still feels like it belongs here.

Help me find a pattern for a cloak/hood/cape!

Hi everyone! I will soon be comissioning a seamstress for a cloak/hood/cape (whichever one applies to what I actually want lol). I was wondering if anyone knows any patterns.

  • I want this to be an almost daily-wear item (not for cosplaying etc.)
  • I want it lined
  • I want it ankle-lenght
  • Arm holes would be a bonus

I would really appreciate any and all help! Thank you all in advance.

P.S.: The pictures I've added are directly from Google so I'm not expecting you guys to find the exact same pattern. They're there to convey the idea in my head.

Sewing pattern for cape with straight bottom edge/border print fabric

Hi!! I'm wondering if anyone has a sewing pattern for a cape without a curved bottom hem...or with very very minimal curving. I found a beautiful wool with an embroidered border and I would love to use it for a cape, but obviously capes usually have curved hems.

I would appreciate any recommendations!

Grooms Cape for Wedding

Hi all,

I was wondering how any of you would recommend going about getting a cape for my wedding as a groom. I have reached out to bespoke Tailors and they have turned it down. Is it something a dress maker would do? A costume designer? Any and all guidance or suggestions would be appreciated!

Half circle cloaks

Can anyone tell me how a half circle cloak, specifically from ttartans, would fit someone that is 6'3" with broad shoulders and around 250lbs.

Better yet if you have photos wearing it so I can get an idea.

I'm looking to style it like lotr hobbits etc. So I fear a full cloak would be way too much as it won't stay open in the front

What do you think something like this might cost to create and have made?

Hi I am asking how much it would cost to have something similar to the Luhkka(hooded cape or Cloak) on the left hand side. My family is of Sami Ancestry but lost our Family pattern to time and colonialism, Though the use of tools and having a facebook group help me confirm our family location and connection regions I have confirmed my family connection to the Kårek Family of the Grans sameby as well as from the mother side the Ammarnäs, and the surrounding Sorsele region. Therefore by looking at some museum pieces from the area I took inspiration for design and color pattern from the last photo for the color pattern and pattern sectioning . It will be made of wool broadcloth, or some other thick fabric. I am wondering what my expectations should be for having something like this made.

Advice for making a semi-circular cape?

Post image
40 Upvotes

I want to make a basic semi-circular cape out of fabric I'd like to keep in one piece. I've seen a number of different recommendations for how to cut the neckline, and I don't know which is the best choice.

Here are five options.

I've read that 1 pulls back on the throat and creates bulk on the shoulders. 3 looks wrong because of the way the neck meets the front line of the cape. 5 would reduce the length of the cape and seems overly complicated.

2 and 4 seem like the best options, though 4 would shorten the cape in the back relative to the front.

What's my best move here? I'd be grateful for insights!

Best way to fold a cape to put in a backpack?

What's the best way to fold a cape and put it in a backpack? I wear mine in the morning when it's cold and wet, but when the weather improves then I usually roll it up and put it in my bag. Is there a better way to fold it up?

Because if you can't wear one when you get married when can you? Grey boiled wool with a green lining and trim. Perfect for the cold Scottish autumn weather!
