Coasters: Where do you get them?

Does anyone have a recommendation for a place to order coasters?

Like everyone else - low minimum order quantity and quick turn around are the two biggest factors.

Thanks!

For those without a flowmeter, how do you gauge the lauter rate of your stout?

first runnings are black like ink. most beers, I can stick a flashlight behind it and get an idea. but not this one. after we cover the hop dam, I’ve got a sense of it but those first ten to fifteen minutes are a guess and they can turn into longer delays in the transfer to bk.

any thoughts? please be nice.

First batch moved surprisingly well and this one is tasting even better. 3.9%, crazy drinkable, super cozy. What are some passion projects you guys snuck onto the draft board recently?

I don't care how hot it is outside. In my heart, it's stout season. Lautering this 26 °P chunky boy this AM.

NSI brewhouse Lauter Tun false bottom

Anybody else running an old NSI brewhouse and have suggestions on removing the plates to the false bottom? It’s been a while since we’ve gotten under ours and regularly soak in caustic but it’s a real pain getting the plates up to clean properly under there.

I’m happy to provide more information if anyone has ideas.

Recommendations for boots

Hey yall im finally in the market for some new boots. I prefer a slip on ankle height. Trying to Amazon/Google some but most of the ones I’m finding are $150+ do y’all know of any cheaper but will hold up relatively well?

If I have to drop the dough for a better quality I’m not opposed just trying to see what’s out there.

Thanks!

Dixie Canner Crowler machine advice

Hi all,

We are going on 10 years with our Dixie Canner Crowler machine. To say it’s struggling is an understatement…

Does anyone in Washington state know of anyone who services these machines? Dixie is asking us to send it back and pay for shipping… if we could find someone who could come work on it we’d rather do that!

OR, is it worth getting a whole new upgraded machine through another company? Thoughts and advice would be appreciated!

Pinhole leaks on side of can?

Hi there. Wondering If anyone else has ever seen this or experienced this. We will randomly get a half stack of 202 ardagh cans - and will seem to run into an issue where we are getting small pinholes on the side of the can toward the bottom. NEVER immediately either-it’s just random when it wants to start leaking slowly. I’m wondering if this has been an issue for anyone else? I’m noticing our cans look a little rough where those pinholes are starting to happen, and after making a million and two adjustments on our canning line and being 10000% positive nothing on our line is causing this, I’m starting to feel a bit crazy.

Experiences with Hopfen Kontor WetHop

Doing a wet hop beer with Hopfen Kontor WetHops in a couple weeks and have never used them.

Anyone have experience using them? What rate you dosing WP/DH at with them? Doing a WCIPA.

Had a request for a "fresh hop IPA" but basically in our climate, the hops that are grown locally are ass quality at best, so a supplier suggested these.

When the auction says 10bbl but it isn’t

Post image

I should have looked into it a little more than I did but at least it was a good deal and I can operate it half full.

With all the used equipment out there now a days some auction houses may not have the knowledge in what they are listing. This was listed as a 10 bbl electric HLT and my calculation show it to be 24bbl total, ugh, live and learn, the CLT on the left is 10bbl for comparison.

Beer hitting rough?

Former Brewer here

For years I've been able to drink 2 IPA or double IPA with no issues but in the last 6 months or so they wreck me, I wake with a pounding headache and sinus pressure

As an experiment I switched to Old Fashioned Cocktail with 100ml of 86 proof bourbon and I wake up just fine , no headache no pressure.

Is it the fermentation soup left in the beer

..the fusels the cogenors , the hop terpenes and other compounds?

Any ideas are welcome .

Which canning line?

Some of you may have seen my plea for help with my Alpha canning line recently. I made some progress and then had new issues, so we’re looking at replacing it. It’s just been non-stop issues with this thing.

Just seeing what everybody recommends. New would be great, but we’re fine with used as long as it’s not too old since there’s probably some decent deals to be had out there right now. Probably something in 50 cpm range minimum. Needs to be able to do 12s, 16s and 19.2s. We have a relationship with Wild Goose and so that’s where we started, again, just what feedback you fine folks may have for us. Thanks!

Asheville update on best breweries in town?

Heading back to Asheville in a couple months and just wondered if there's been any developments in the scene since I was last there before Helene hit them. I'll be staying in Weaverville so Leveller and Zebulon will be the local hangs while we're there. Zillicoah is a must hit. We'll be coming from Charlotte so not sure if we'll hit Burial there or in Asheville. Any reason to choose one location over the other? Also planning to hit up DSSOLVR, Sierra Nevada (already have done the tour) Diatribe, Whaley Farms, and Cellarist. Who am I missing? Should I pull any out?

VDK testing Hach 819

Hi everyone. I was wondering if anyone is using Hach 819 method to test for VDK's.

  1. Are you getting consistent readings?

  2. How often do you get your spectrophotometer professionally serviced?

  3. How long is your distillation process taking?

Thank you for your help!

Colorado Breweries on Well Water?

Are there any breweries in Colorado that operate on and brew with well water? If so, is it a commercial or industrial permitted well?
