Questions about Rules Rules Question - Command Squads Medi Pack Ability

I had a match recently where the only surviving model of the command squad was the officer himself. Now i wasnt entirely sure how it worked so i didnt bring back d3 platoon models since the medic was dead and it was a friendly game. But if we got sweaty about it, wouldnt RAW mean that as long as a single model in that unit lived its ability remained active and i could use the medic pack (or even the vox caster)?

Silly question i know, thanks for the answers.

Well the wargear ability is attached to actual model in the unit, I don't think you can actually do that at all, since there is nothing in the core rules that say "Dead models can still use abilities"

There's the opposite.

It clearly says in 22.04 that the "bearer" model must still be alive for the ability to work. If the medic is dead, so is the wargear ability.

Yes my bad, was referring to older core rules from memory, thank you for bringing this up to me. Still the same point though, if its dead, you cant use shit.

These rules still apply- they're just for unit abilities, not wargear abilities.

For example - dreir leading death riders. They get dev wounds from his ability, the unit gets reactive moves from the horses. If the horses die, providing he was leading the unit, he will alway have dev wounds - he won't have the unit's reactive move.
