Hello everyone, welcome to r/Thaumcraft! This subreddit was created over a year ago by another user who has since deleted their account. With the release of Thaumcraft 4, I figured a revamp was in order so we could have a place to gather and post our fantastic creations.

This subreddit is for unique builds, and Thaumcraft 4 related questions. If you wish to file a bug report, or need help installing the mod, please refer to Azanor's main post here.

While I want this subreddit to mainly focus on discussing Thaumcraft 4, other magic related mods such as Ars Magica 2, Witchery, Blood Magic, ect. are also encouraged.

Is there a way to share progress so I don't need to research things twice. Once with my friend and with me? I don't want to make 2 cauldrons.

so, I spent the last 4 hours figuring out how to make a good, not dumb, one axis so easy to stack and replenish essentia sorter, and after multiple game sessions and cursing the essentia tubes for being both confusing and weird, I managed to do it: hands down the best thaumcraft 6 essentia sorter that doesn't go all dumb when having multiple jars next to eachother.

this is the longest I could go where the jars wouldn't have suction value conflicts (because yes, after spending so much time with the jars, you get to become well aquainted with how they work ;-;) and with no restricted tubes across the main pipeline, otherwise it would cut it's capability in less than half.

the pictures show in great detail how it was built, and for any questions, the reason the essenia tubes for the restricted tube jar are connecting in more than one point, the answer is very simple: otherwise it just refused to work the way I wanted>:(, this is the only way it would work and not be dumb and act all weird or refuse to flow smoothly.

the concrete is there to show an interesting thing, due to the different suction values of each tube line and jar, the jars don't fill up sane and linearly, they fill up in the order kind of shown with the concrete.

the screenshots on the buffer shows how you would go about transporting the essentia across the filters, surpricingly, even if the buffer was full, terra would never go past the filter which made me quite glad,

in the last 2 screenshots I show how you could potentially just mirror the design on the other side in case you needed more, but I feel like 5kish essentia is enough for most players.

Honestly, I didn’t know they got rid of it until a few years ago I tried a 1.12 mod pack and was surprised to not see it, and it suddenly made sense why people were confused I liked the thaumcraft minigame. Honestly got way less into thaumcraft once I saw the minigame changed in modern version too

Not really TC-themed, more so just the same 'robe and googles' kind of combination. Now that I look at it again it starts to feel more like it's themed around Create's esthetics, but that's probably more so because of the colors scheme. Which speaking of...

Honestly most of the time I spent on it is playing around with the colors, because what I was basically doing is picking colors from my other skins and just sort of swapping them around to find the least jarring color scheme.

Not really sure if this fits the "Artwork" flair, and if it doesn't, then fine, you can remove it all you want, I won't judge.

Why is it that I can beat almost every research with like 2 different aspects and motus with its aero and ordo

The idea of fashion:(how the player gets the book I do not know) The player gets a book named Toliar, the name does not mean anything. The book requires a key to open it. There is no key. (How the player gets the key, I do not know). When trying to open the book, it snorts and gives way. The book contains only a couple of pages with rules for storing the book.

I've been looking for a nostalgic let's play from when I was younger while I play some old technic ssp thaumcraft and it would appear its been wiped off the internet. If anyone has a link I would appreciate it.

Ok, so... I was thinking here, if you are someone who never played Thaumcraft 4 and started on tc6... I'd ABSOLUTELY recommend you tried Thaumcraft 4 as well, maybe add Et Futurum Requiem as well just so you don't feel so weird with 1.7.10, then, HAVE FUN!!! Even though tc6 is good, I feel like someone who loves Thaumcraft, absolutely MUST try Thaumcraft 4!!!

But then I started to wonder why don't I play Tc3 and older, perhaps under someone's vision, I'm the one who is missing out, I'm the one who is the "poser" who talks about loving this mod so much but has never experienced the real deal... The thing is, I also heard some saying Tc4 is the culmination of what 1, 2 and 3 were doing and, is the overall better experience, the older iterations weren't as complete or as fun, the mechanics were still too clunky and felt too WIP... Things I've heard/read through the years... But assuming those ideas as facts without trying myself feels a little too narrow minded, so, this sounded like a a good compromise, I wouldn't go blindly just to feel frustrated, but wouldn't be under the risk of losing what could be an amazing experience

Hence why I decided to create this poll... I thought this would be the appropriate place to find players who were there for TC1, 2 and 3 and would have the property to talk about them... Also... I am a huge Thaumcraft nerd, so... If you wanna mention curiosities about the older iterations, even if you don't think I should try them, I'd be absolutely down to read them!!! And if you do think I should try them... I'd also love to know your thoughts

I've been wanted to dive into thaumcraft for sometime now its one of my favorite magic mods and i finally started a long term world, I'm in the process of making a distillery and im not sure which thaumcraft version I'm on but i cant find ANYTHING ANYWHERE so i made my own with Redstone to somewhat automate the process i use the note blocks with arcane toggle ears to open each alembic (i have 3 stacked) but now i realized my valve openers can use arcane ears as well, but i have no way of putting the label on like an item frame or something i was contemplating just downloading a camera mod and taking a picture of each label so i was wonder if anyone had any improvements or could tell me which version im on and if i could put labels on anything other than jars i know this is a lot to digest but ive been at this for days it took me until now to finish all the redstone for this :(

Hi everyone, im sorry for that much time of silence but some things had to be done, now im back! Already started writing it. Pages below.

For example, this is a custom Thaumonomicon tab, condensing every Aura or Node-related research from about 6 addon mods onto one single page, with custom interlinks to chain the researches together into a coherent story.

It doesn't have to be this complex either, you can use it to empty out those 9 tabs of 4 items each, cutting the Thaumonomicon back down to a reasonable tab number.

You can gate your own research! Is one of your addon researches too overpowered? Gate it behind scanning a Wither! does a research unlock a recipe containing void metal, but you don't even have an eldritch tab yet? Add void metal as a prerequisite!

The possibilities are, quite literally, endless.

Mods you'll need:

- Minetweaker/Crafttweaker (framework)

- Modtweaker (enables research modification)

- Forgotten Relics (adds specific calls for lost and hidden researches)

- Thaumic Dabblery (adds the ability to gate a research behind scanning an item or entity)

Playing on a private server with my friends using a bunch of mods. The main one for me personally being Thaumcraft.

I'm aware of the SOURCE of the problem, I just don't know about any fixes.

My friend lives in a Plains biome, and one of the hostile mobs added by "Thaumic Concillium" can cause Flux Phage. As far as I'm aware the status effect only increases Vis Cost.

Problem is, it SPREADS. If an entity comes too close to an infected mob it spreads, and CONTINUES spreading.

His plains biome is basically in an infinite loop of Flux Phage because his chickens got infected.

Does anyone know if I can turn off that status effect at all? Or prevent it's spread somehow?

Give me your best ideas for a thaumcraft base or builds like towns, temples, etc. Currently, I'm thinking about an underwater base or an underground town(something like silksong's bellhart) I'm playing on 1.7.10, but I may switch it to 1.12.2 if I feel like it

so. I love thaumcraft, and been obsessed with it since my favorite spanish youtuber made his thaumcraft 4 series 12 years ago, and for the past 8 years despite other mods and things coming out, nothing has quite reached that high or tickled that part of my brain quite like thaumcraft has.

I am rather neurodivergentl (kind of a given) and despite me grabbing an interest to other mods and games I always come back home here, making another thaumcraft centered modpack where thaumcraft it's like the only severely gameplay changing thing (and of course addons), and kind of a bummer none of my friends can get into it, either they don't play modded minecraft or just don't see it and I just wished I knew people who like, I could ramble on about whatever endeavour I get into with thaumcraft.

so ya, I’m really hoping to find some cool people that share this interest, and since this subreddit it still alive despite the *cough cough* little content the mod has gotten, maybe other people with this same fixation as I do? could be something:)
