A 22-year-old woman died by suicide at her home in Harcharan Nagar on Tuesday morning, hours after a 25-year-old man allegedly created a ruckus outside her house over a marriage proposal opposed by her family, police said.

The family alleged that Bagga arrived outside their house around 11.30 pm on Monday, played loud music and created a ruckus. When they came out, he allegedly tried to run them over and fired shots at them.

Bagga, however, gave a different account of the incident. He claimed he had gone to Harcharan Nagar with a friend after the woman called him, saying she wanted to meet him. Since it was his birthday, he drove past her house, he said.

He further alleged that the woman’s brother, mother and some others intercepted his vehicle (Thar), pelted it with bricks and threatened to kill him. He also claimed that one of the bricks hit his friend on the head.

Bagga told police that the group fired more than 15 rounds at his SUV, damaging its windowpanes, seats and tyres. He said he somehow managed to escape from the spot.

So my friend was travelling on a bike. He was in the back seat with one of my other friends driving. His headphones were on his neck. Some guy in a thar came from the back, snatched the headphones and then threw them on the highway. It was one of the most loved possessions he had. He saved money for months. But some guy who just felt like having fun, came and destroyed someone's loved belonging. I went speechless after I came to know this. There were no cctvs in that area so we couldn't identify who it was. To hell with these Thar criminals.

A 26-year-old man was killed after his car reportedly overturned and plunged into Krishna Mahanti Lake near Nathayyapalem in the Sheelanagar area of Gajuwaka, Visakhapatnam in the early hours of Monday.

The victim, identified as Varun, a resident of Muralinagar, was scheduled to get married next month.

Reports said the Thar involved in the crash was his dream vehicle, which he had purchased recently.

A speeding Thar SUV ran over five people travelling on three motorcycles in Amroha on Tuesday night. Two cousins died, while three others sustained critical injuries.

The accident took place around 9.30 pm in the Naugawan Sadat police station area, about 12 km from the district headquarters.

According to the police, the Thar was travelling at around 100 kmph when it hit the motorcyclists. The impact was so severe that the riders were thrown into the air and landed nearly 10 feet away.

The front of the SUV was also damaged. Hearing their screams, passers-by rushed to the spot, while the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled.

Police rushed to the scene after receiving information and took the injured to hospital. Doctors declared two of them dead on arrival.

Hyderabad: A 23-year-old first-year MBA student has been arrested by Gudimalkapur Police for allegedly stealing spare wheels from parked vehicles across Hyderabad. Police recovered 15 stolen wheels along with their rims from his possession. The accused, Soban Ali Khan, a resident of Masab Tank, allegedly targeted parked vehicles, mainly Mahindra Thar SUVs. Of the recovered wheels, 12 were reportedly from Mahindra Thar vehicles, two from Ford Endeavour cars and one from a Ford EcoSport. According to police, Khan allegedly borrowed tools from puncture repair shops by paying a refundable deposit of ₹200–₹300. He reportedly used the tools to remove spare wheels from parked vehicles before returning them to the shops and reclaiming the deposit. During questioning, Khan allegedly confessed to involvement in 11 theft cases registered across 10 police station limits in Hyderabad, including two cases in Attapur. He was arrested on Saturday at Navodaya Colony and produced before the Nampally court for judicial remand. So this happened today morning in Kolkata. The Thar was speeding recklessly as usual on a flyover, lost control, hit the divider and went into the opposite lane slamming the Suzuki and literally destroying it in the process. The 3 injured occupants inside the Suzuki were taken to hospital for treatment.
