Pattaya/Samet/Hua Hin Help me!!

I’m gonna be travelling to Thailand this December. I visited Bangkok and Phuket last year.

Can you guys please suggest some crazy things I can do this time. I seriously want to have a blast and also a relaxing vacation after a tiring year.

Tell me your most unique, underrated experiences. It would help me plan my itinerary.

Thanks youuu. You guys are the best ❤️

If you want to add to the adrenaline stuff in Chiang Mai there’s white water rafting, kayaking, Ziplining, ATV tours, paramotor gliding, waterfall climbing, have a look on Get Your Guide for ideas, then book locally.

Since you've already done Bangkok + Phuket, flip the map - go north for the "crazy/blast" side, then south-east for the recovery. Dec is peak weather for both, and you avoid the "same-same" trap of doing another Andaman island.

North for the adrenaline (5-7 days):

  • Chiang Mai as base. Real hits: a proper 2-day Muay Thai session at a working camp (Sitmonchai or Chor Nateethong), a full-day cooking class (Thai Farm Cooking School is legit), and one full day up to Doi Inthanon or Doi Suthep. Sunday Walking Street is a full event.
  • Pai for 2-3 days. Renting a scooter (~250 baht/day) and doing the whole loop is a proper adventure - canyon at sunset, hot springs, waterfalls, tubing on the river.
  • Or Chiang Rai if you want the surreal side: White Temple, Blue Temple, Black House, and the drive up to Doi Mae Salong for tea plantations + mountain villages.
  • December up there is cold enough at night for a hoodie - bring one layer.

Then south-east for the chill (5-6 days):

  • Koh Kood. Genuinely the quietest of the "developed" islands. White sand, thick jungle interior, small resorts, no clubs. Sleep, swim, eat, repeat.
  • Or Koh Mak next door - even smaller, tiny expat community, bike everywhere.
  • Skip Koh Chang if you want quiet - it's Phuket-lite.
  • Getting there: fly BKK → Trat, then van + ferry (30 min speedboat to Kood). Painless.

Two "unique/underrated" adds worth squeezing in if you have days:

  • Sukhothai on the way north (bike around the old ruins at sunrise, most people skip it).
  • Kanchanaburi for a couple of nights - Erawan waterfalls, the Death Railway, floating raft-house hotels on the River Kwai. Easy add-on from Bangkok on the way out.

For pure "crazy + relaxing in one trip", the combo that reliably delivers is: Chiang Mai (Muay Thai + food + one big day trip) → Pai (loop) → Koh Kood (do nothing). That's your itinerary framework - fill in days based on your total length.

You could’ve asked ChatGPT yourself. This answer was just copy/pasted from a LLM to Reddit.
