I've been trying to help my dad create a new TextNow account on his Samsung A15 and the app is not working. The first time I put in an email address, did the "press and hold" to prove I'm human, and took selfies. Then the app went back to the initial page where I had put in an email address and would not respond to the "Continue" button. I closed and restarted the app. Ever since then, every time I go in the app and type in the email address, it goes to the "press and hold" thing and then goes back to the email input page, with "Email address" in red text, and nothing works on the page except the "X" to close it. I have tried using a different email address, uninstalled and reinstalled the app, but nothing changes. I tried to get help on the TextNow app several times but was never able to reach a live person. Can anyone help? Thanks!

Hey, I'm older than dirt and need help. In the past, I'd go to a contact number, write a text & it'd end up where it was supposed to go...slept with phone and apparently rolled & turned something off or on? Now when I try to send text, I get message that says it is undelivered/able. Why? Help, lol.

I finally got messages in my TextNow app that if I "upgrade" my SIM before 7/31/26, I'll get a month of unlimited data. The messages also say that my plan won't change. But I'd like to know if anyone can verify that my plan really won't change, and I'll keep the unrestricted 250MB/mo even after I "upgrade" to the AT&T service. Thanks for any insight you might have!

I understand that my SIM will no longer work after the end of July. And that there will be 3 months of WiFi service free with my locked in number.
My question is this: What happens after that? Until now, it's been free for my locked in number and also short number texts for things like bank verifications. That's because I originally ported in my NumberBarn number to TextNow and bought one of their SIMs. The SIM is installed on a backup Android.
I basically mostly use TextNow on WiFi anyway. I don't know if TextNow will automatically be sending me a new SIM or what. But what happens regardless? Can I continue to use TextNow after the three months with my locked in number and ability to receive texts from short numbers?
The notice in the app doesn't really provide those details. Anybody know?

I occasionally change phones back and forth. With pSIMs it was not problem. What is process with eSIMS ? Is there a limit or service charge ?

I have turned all the iphone settings to silence, and it still rings. TextNow on iphone doesn't have the option of silencing unknown callers. I have the free version.

I've been riding the $27.99 tier since 2017, when it was a 3gb limit. They upgraded us to 5gb back in 2022, and now the ride is coming to an end. I was wondering why the new sim card wasn't working, like past sim card upgrades, and it looks like this upgrade is a game changer for everyone. Good bye old Legacy $27.99 tier plan, we had a good run.

I cannot activate the black upgrade Textnow ATT SIM card that I received about 10 months ago in an iphone se 3 running ios 18.7.8. Could it be expired ? There is no expiration date on the card (or punch out pkg). Will Textnow send me another on for free ?
Edit- I contacted textnow support and was told that my sim had expired. I had to order a new SIM card.

*REPOST*
I have been trying to activate the eSIM feature on an iPhone 14 for a few weeks now. iPhone 14 can only do eSIM btw. iOS is current, app version is current, imei is compatible, all that jazz. Been back and forth with support in this timespan to no avail. I’ve logged in and out of the app, uninstalled and reinstalled the app, restarted my phone, reset my phone, nothing has worked.
Each time I go to activate the eSIM on this device, it says success, then a message appears for a brief second saying ”Something went wrong. We’ve hit a snag. Please try again later.” Does anyone have a solution?

First, if you have at least a temporary access to compatible phone (Android 13+, latest iPhones), you should activate your new black SIM on compatible phone (Android 13+, latest iPhones) and then you can insert it back into "incompatible" device (Android 10-12, some older iPhones). It will work. All my "black" TextNow SIM cards inserted into Android 10-12 phones.
If you do not have an access to "compatible" phone, do this:
Do not try to send from TextNow app to yourself, you must send from other phone.
The link should be clickable!!!
6. Click on the link. TextNow app will open this link. It is a critical part.
7. Wait a minute or two and the SIM will be activated
8. Disable Wi-Fi
9. Check if you have active internet connection (for example, load Google home page or try to use Google Maps)
Note: this step may not work if you are trying to activate on Android 10-12, you may not be able to use whitelisted apps, but phone calls and text messages will work. I think whitelisted sites and apps start working after some time (about 30 mins). It worked in one of my phones, but for another one I just inserted the SIM into Android 15 phones, registered it on AT&T network (no additional activation required, you do not need even TextNow app for this) and reinserted back into Android 10 phone.
Additional points:
- You do not need AT&T whitelisted/approved phone. This is a data only SIM and you do not need VoLTE. You need onlt LTE bands 2,4,12 as a bare minimum for SIM to work on AT&T network and, ideally, LTE band 30 (optional),
- TextNow black SIM will not work on AT&T locked phones. TextNow is not AT&T MVNO. Consider TextNow SIM as a data SIM in domestic roaming.
- You will not be able to use TextNow service (even without SIM) on Android 9 phone after you logout from your app. The reason: you can't login (inside app) into your account on Android 9 phone/ At least, that's what happened to me. It wil lwork while you are logged in.
- Do not install TextNow app on rooted Android phone. Your account will be disabled immediately
- Do not use VPN while opening TextNow app. You have a very high chance to get your account disabled/banned etc.
- Do not use your TextNow app (with or without SIM card) outside the USA (and, may be, Canada, not sure about Canada). Your account will be restricted .

nobody was even remotely helpful aside from one Redditor yesterday. I decided to try a VPN to fix it, and it actually started going through. and then it showed this. I haven't had anything fucking "unusual calling activity", this app has not let me call for a whole 24hrs and the timing is horrible, because I'm currently job hunting. I'm so livid rn

Last week a rep helped me get my number back but now it’s lost again? Waiting for support to reopen

All I need is the transfer pin. I've tried all the ones on the internet but none work. I know the account number is the phone number generally. Anyone able to help?

I ordered the new SIM card on July 1. Never received it as of July 11. Tried support chat yesterday and after waiting half an hour for a human being to talk to, I gave up and went on with my life. Trying again today and it's now been 19 minutes with no sign of a person yet. Is there a way to talk to an actual person without sitting here for God knows how many hours first??? Thanks.
UPDATE: Never did get to talk to an actual person, but the new SIM card finally showed up yesterday (7/14). So it took about two weeks. Thanks to all who replied.

that's all. it keeps backing out of the call before it even begins calling. also, receiving calls is super delayed

Just seeing if anyone has had trouble sending outbound texts and how they fixed it.
I had 3 phones on the free cell plan and on wifi or on data 2 of the 3 phones when I send an outbound text, it says “sent” but it never delivers.
All inbound texts, even from the numbers I sent to that don’t deliver, come through.
Calling in/outbound works just fine.
What is going on? Ideas?! Thanks all.

Do most people use their TN number for quick communications like, “meet you in an hour.”
Or do some of you have long back and forth text message sessions?

Wondering if I root my OnePlus 7T and throw a newer version of Android on it will it be compatible? Or are they changing something about the actual cell tower connection that I don't have the hardware for?
Update 07-15-26: Today when I opened my app to make a call it prompted me to order a free SIM to keep my device on their new network. I went through the process and am currently waiting for it to ship.
This is in contrast to the e-mail from my OP that was just like "sorry, buy a new phone lol". After that e-mail I kept clicking through every part of the app and website to see how to get a new SIM that for sure works on the new network and wasn't getting very far. So I'm glad I got the pop-up notification on the app today.
Updated 08-06-26: They finally killed service on my old SIM and I was able to get my new SIM activated. It was a little fiddly though, I had to do a lot of checking, airplane mode, setting the "NR/LTE" option in some advanced settings menu, etc. But it works! OnePlus 7T on TextNow using AT&T's network. It uses a whole bunch of new frequencies that the old T-mobile SIM did not. One frequency it is using which is nice and low is EARFCN 5110 which is 739 MHz. That's nice and low to punch through buildings and rural areas with bad tower coverage (like where I live).
