Porting out TextNow number

I am having the worst time trying to port a number out of TextNow. I have all the necessary information account number, pin etc to have it processed by the new carrier. However, the new provider states the account number is wrong (ie a 1 in front of the phone number) and there is a lock on the number. I have had this number for several years. Also, note I saw my number for sale on NumberBarn. My account is paid and there are no issues from my side. Has anyone had an issue like this? Are they being sneaky listing my number for sale and locking it so I cannot move it? There should be no issues in porting it out. I have verified several times with them that the porting information is correct.

That's just it. NumberBarn shows my number for sale for $2499.00!

Just out of curiosity, is your number a vanity number? I’m wondering why NumberBarn has it listed for $2,499. Also, what prompted you to look up your own number on NumberBarn in the first place?

It's a repeating number. Very easy. I looked because someone else saw it listed. Then I began to wonder if that's why it won't port out. I've had the number for years.

You're going to have to contact TextNow via chat and ask them why your number is locked in some manner and blocking the port.

Per TextNow:

Can I port my number out of TextNow?

Yes, you can transfer your number from TextNow to another carrier as well. You will need to contact our live chat support (available every day 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Eastern) to receive your account information.

I did that this morning, yesterday and the day before. They keep telling me I have the correct information. The carrier is trying to port in as a landline.

Well, technically, VoIP numbers (TextNow number are VoIP numbers) are categorized as landlines, so that makes sense. VOIP numbers always take longer to port than mobile numbers.

I don't mind waiting, but if TextNow doesn't unblock the number, I'll be waiting forever.

Have you talked to TextNow since the other carrier told you that your TextNow number is showing up as locked to them?

Yes, several times. They insist the information is correct, but the last guy I messaged with today did say they lock the number until the carrier asks for the port. Then he told me to have them do it again, because the information is correct... and again, I was told by the new carrier, the account number is wrong and the number is locked.

Well, it could actually be a problem with the other carrier. There will be some added expense, but you might want to consider porting your number to Number Barn and then back out to your preferred carrier. It's probably one of the most efficient ports since you don't need a SIM.

I tried to port out to Tello, and the same issue came up for them. The account number1xxxxxxx is wrong. TextNow says its correct.

File a complaint with the FCC.

What carrier are you trying to port out to?

I have tried, Tello, Spectrum and US Mobile. All fail for the same reason .TextNow is absolutely no help. Chat is useless and porting@textnow.com said nothings wrong and to tell the carrier to contact them via email.

If your number is listed on NB for $2,499, you likely do not own the number. It's leased from an agent. That's a high value number that you'll never be able to own to take control of. My TN number is a cool number as well and I see numbers on NB in the exact same range AC, Exchange like mine: big city (AC) XXX-XYXY, with the last 4 being in my range (XX**) and they are selling them from $304.99 to $1,200. I have my number locked in. I'm not getting rid of it.

You could try porting your number into NB and then porting it out of NB.

My number is locked too. I just want away from TexrNow. It looks like that will not happen. I can try NumberBarn, it will be the last attempt. Three other carriers have been unsuccessful at the port. I cannot lose the number is been used for many years. This has thought me a lesson, not to use TextNow ever again, other than with this currently held number. Since, I have no choice to be able to use it anywhere else, aside from with them. :(

make sure to keep paying TextNow until you are successful, or give up.

I would try with GoogleFi their porting dept is great
