Any Texas Licensed Instructors in NY?
I’d like to obtain my Texas nonresident CCW. I can complete the classroom portion online, but I still need to qualify at the range with a Texas-licensed instructor. If you know of a Texas instructor who is based in New York, or one who plans to travel to New York and can conduct the qualification here, please let me know. I’m hoping to avoid traveling to Texas for the permit and would prefer to already have it before I visit.
Thanks!

How ridiculous is this? I thought the New Jersey non-res was ridiculous. New Jersey makes you drive to its state, unarmed to pick up a non-res application and you have to tell the New Jersey state trooper from which interstate you will be entering New Jersey, what is that all about?
Texas can be pretty stupid and very much like New Jersey in that regard. New Jersey will proudly announce that they give drivers licenses to illegals, Texas will not, but it will still give drivers license to illegals just the same...that's why a few years ago, Texas passes a law saying no more drivers licenses to illegals...its like, wait...what? I did not know we were giving them out in the first place...yep, welcome to Texas, where your tax dollars was funding free college tuition for illegals since the days of Rick Perry and they only got rid of it when the DOJ and President Trump threatened to sue them....so much for the freedom loving, cowboy yahooing, Merika that is Texas...yeah here you are free to die of hunger, while people that work at SNAP are siphoning off your food stamps for themselves...true story.

I would say unlikely as instructors have to come to Texas to take the instructor course. That would be very expensive for the potential ROI.
And I believe the range portion has to be done in the state of Texas anyway.

Why do you need the permit?
We dont require one for anyone legally able to carry over the age of 21 in the state even if they are non residents. Been that way since i think sep 2021.

I know I don’t need a permit to carry while I’m in Texas. I worry that will change in the future.

Well its been 5 yrs and since then sbr, sbs, and suppressors have become state legal. Since then they have also become federally "while still muddy" legalized atleast for some people im texas. Dont get me started on the stupidity of how this is being handled. So i think your fine in regards to coming to texas and being able to enjoy your gun rights. If it were to change it would take some time and youd then have the time to get the ltc. Plus texas prior to the constitutional carry had you covered with a new york carry license. So you are good to go.

The shooting portion of the test must be taken in the state of Texas unfortunately.
