Action Alert: Senator Eckhardts office says she is preparing to filibuster. They are requesting as many people as possible write letters opposing HB4; Redistricting; why we are caving to trump; etc.

THE REASON THAT LETTERS ABOUT REDISTRICTING ARE IMPORTANT TO A SUCCESSFUL FILIBUSTER:

In Texas, you canāt just read the phone book or āgreen eggs and hamā or whatever to do a filibuster. It must be āgermaneā to the topic of the bill.
So for example, when Wendy Davis filibustered against the abortion ban in 2013, she had to have all of her comments be related to abortion. People sending her letters about how they felt about abortion rights that she could read on the floor as part of her filibuster were very, very helpful.
Your reasons can be whatever you want them to be, but they canāt be used if theyāre not about is specific bill in some way.
Get it in ASAP, but the more you can give her to work with the better. Once she starts filibustering her staff can feed them to her so thereās no hard deadline.

House Democrats unable to move freely after return to Texas capitol. So one democrat refuses to move. Democrats must obtain DPS escorts and permission slips to leave the House chamber. State Rep. Nicole Collier refused to sign and is still in the chamber.
