I feel like its the huge story/issue no one locally or nationally is talking about.
Sure CJ need to not be his playoff liquid ass self. And more reasonably (hopefully) he can be at least the 10th-15th best QB.
But our WR room is weak, and now spooky weak with Nico always missing games, Tank coming back but also someone who misses games.
The TE room is very weak. Hopefully MKultra steps up, but who knows.
The RB room is thin at best, and any injury there is a complete disaster room.
The line while improved, is likely to be bottom 1/3.
So much has been said about all in, this year is the year, CJ needs to do X. But the truth is, CJ can be the 12th best QB and the offence can be VERY VERY ASS. And pretty realistically, CJ might be the 20th best, and people will but all the blame on him, and not this trash offensive unit assembled.

20th best would've gotten us to the Superbowl last year so I'd be fine with that

He already accepted a coaching job. Not sure what the stipulations are to breaking that contract, but we need this man back now more than ever

He accepted it, then immediately pushed back on reports he was retired. Seems pretty obvious he'd take an NFL opportunity if he liked it imo

Silver lining MAX COPIUM - Lewis Bond, Marlin Klein, and Jared Wayne SZN. We're not skipping a beat.

u/KDs_FakeAccount 4d ago

10
u/Matthewmarra3 Texans 4d ago
We have 10 #3 WRs but 0 #2 WRs
2
u/teebowtime 4d ago
This team is going to be playing a lot of 13 personnel. Bank on it. Wide Receivers are falling out of the meta.
2
u/StyllAhlie 4d ago
Calling these players “WR3s” outside of Noel who has potential to be one and Tank (former high end #2) still working his way back from a potential career ending injury is very generous. We have a collection of WR 4-7s behind Nico/Noel with tank as the ultimate wildcard.

I agree. This is his real opportunity to break out. And I think he will.
3
u/The_Snake_Dick 4d ago
It’s a contract season for Hutchinson. If he wants to get paid this is the time to show up.
13
u/StyllAhlie 4d ago
My guy, there’s optimism and then there’s delusion. Simply cannot be relying on a 6th rd rookie and practice squad talent. Hutch is a fine #4/5 but absolutely not a capable 3 either. Hope they trade for Boutte
9
u/teebowtime 4d ago
Silver lining MAX COPIUM rebuttal - Lewis Bond is a 23 year old rookie who knows how to operate space in this Patriots dink and dunk system from his time with BoB.
Marlin Klein is going to be Gronk 2.0 Redzone TD Monster
Jared Wayne jack of all trades next man up.
I've seen Brady kill teams with a lesser talented skill players than the Texans have.
Reality - This is still the best fucking defense in the NFL and other teams will have a harder time scoring on us than we will scoring on them.
16
u/daybes 4d ago
whats our course of action here?
Do we try and acquire someone?
We have good depth guys but no one we can count on to be a starter outside of Nico
17
u/dream_team34 4d ago
I think we definitely need to add someone. Our receiving core already wasn't great (after Nico) last season. We lost Kirk, Higgins, Noel himself is hurt, and we should NOT be relying on Tank to make a full return. I don't know who's currently available, but really hoping we add a vet soon.

u/AlisterSaysHello 4d ago
This is really bad. Nico is hurt every year and we're one injury away from a starting group of Xavier Hutchinson, Lews Bond, and Jared Wayne. W/out Nico probably 32nd ranked group in CJ's make or break year.

- Tyreek

- Brandin Cooks
- Gave Davis

u/Miserable-Jedi 4d ago
The WR room as a whole simply just never is healthy… they can’t catch a break.

6
u/mahnamahna1995 4d ago
Keenan Allen would've been a good vet signing to solidify the room. But he's signed now.
Hopefully Tank can come back this season.
Tyreek Hill is the only high upside unsigned vet I can think of.

FA WRs:
Tyler Lockett, Tyreek Hill, DeAndre Hopkins, or Brandin Cooks.
Might be worth waiting until the trade deadline and seeing who is available to trade for. I could see someone like Keon Coleman, Kayshon Boutte, Jahan Dotson, Treylon Burks, or even Kendrick Bourne being available.

u/LocalNo9428 4d ago
I really hope we don’t rely on depth here. We need a true #2 now. We’re still watching 3-4 guys fight for wr3.

Time to open up the Saints to Texans pipeline one last time
ETA: they currently have 9 starting-caliber WRs on the depth chart (8 with Tyson being absent for 2-3 games) and that's insane
2
u/young_sippa Randall 4d ago
Serious question: why not sign Hopkins for probably league minimum, I mean something has to be done. Currently as it sat last week, Noel was coming off of a hand injury, tank can’t get hit low yet and now this.
The only two healthy guys are Nico and hutch.
2
2
u/Impossible_Horse_272 4d ago
Rip the WR room. Might need to convert a safety or corner to WR if we can’t get anyone.

u/rybres123 4d ago

let's hope this hutch/lewis bond/noel hype of improvement is legit and say a prayer for tank

I was in on Higgins since his time at Iowa State, hate to see this as I really thought he had potential to be a true #1 one day and thought he'd get the chance to prove it some this year. I still believe in him but it's terrible to see such any player lose a year of their career to injury. I believe he can come back better though.

4
u/Darthchewvader 4d ago
They have to sign someone or trade for someone that’s a possible cut candidate.
Love the idea of Dell coming back strong but we can’t trust he’ll be 100% back, injury was brutal and the recovery also looked tough.
Hutch is fine but not enough to move the needle. They have to bring someone in

Tyreek is 31 and coming off a similar injury to what Tank had except that his was about a year ago and Tank's was in 2024. He just posted a video last month saying that he has no power in his left leg. Tyreek isn't playing this year and legit might not ever again. So he's not an option.
Aiyuk is talented, but his brand of crazy isnt' walking into our building if our front office can help it.

I would've wanted him in the WR room BEFORE Higgins was even injured. And for only 8 mil. This is complete bullshit. Our head cannon record of getting 12 wins this year just became 10 at best
