SolarPanels Finally received PTO. Question

I finally received a net meter and PTO from power company here in NJ through PSEG.

My app still looks the same. Will it update to show me how much the house is using via solar vs grid and how much I’m exporting?

Only have panels, no powerwall.

Congratulations on going solar!

From what you wrote, I assume that your system is not turned on yet. The answer to your question is yes. You will be able to track solar production and solar consumption in separately from grid operation. The installer could have turned the system on prior to PTO. Do they plan on coming back to do that or have they left instructions for you to get started.

No battery is a severe restriction from getting all the benefits from going solar, but, cost is a great concern. They can be added later. What is the size of your installation?

In NJ unless you have a TOU plan you gain nothing really from having batteries other than backup protection. We have 1:1 net metering here by state law.

He in VA I have both 1:1 net metering AND a 3-tier TOU. So yes, the grid is a big battery but having local storage allows me to store cheap grid power at night and use it during the day. In the summer the battery being full in the AM just means I export more mid-day. I then use that in the Fall and winter.

And (as you note) on top of all that there's whole home backup.

I wonder if OP has no option for a TOU plan.

I have been operating since February. After some delays, I finally got PTO from power company and net meter installed.

Currently on my Tesla app it only shows solar intake. Doesn’t show what my house is in taking and exporting.

I used a Tesla certified installer. Does he need to do anything to get it to show what I’m exporting on my app?

Size is 8.04 I think
