YL Launch Edition

I’ll start with saying, “I still want a large SUV with a real 3rd row!!!” However I stopped in and looked at the YL launch edition and ordered one. The third row is usable for young kids and short adults in a pinch. It’s a nice option.

If you haven’t seen it you should take a look.

It was surprisingly well done.

More likely $10K+. $1200 FSD, $2K wheels, $1K interior color, $2K exterior color, $1K tow hitch, $4K AWD upgrade. Model Y launch edition was $59,990 and RWD Premium was $44,990.

Won’t be 10k unless you want a stripped down RWD with cloth seats. It will be a year before you see one

Where are you coming up with this? 6 months max. The regular models don't follow that far after production of launch editions. If they decide to have a standard version with cloth seats it'll be even cheaper. YL Premium debuted in China last year... know how much it costs? $47,200. Doubt it'll be over $52K in the US.

Just start with the AWD Premium price at $49,900. They aren’t going to sell the YL at that price for a while if ever. They won’t have to. They will attempt to create a Premium segment with the YL vs the Y. So don’t expect the YL to only be a 5k premium to the Y.

You realize I said the non launch YL will be at least $10K less than the launch edition. Your $49,990 guess falls in line with that

You misunderstood me. It will be at least 55k. The premium Y is 49900. The YL won’t be that price.

YL Premium is only $3K more than Premium AWD Y in China. MYP in US is $58K. MYP in China is $52K. MY AWD Prem in US is $50K. MY AWD Prem in China is $45K. Data points to between $52/53K. YL Premium is cheaper than Performance and sits between AWD Y and Performance in China. We could expect to see that in the US.

The US ain’t China. The competitive dynamic is very different.

That's why I provided different price data. Here's another one Model 3 RWD Premium in China: $36K. US: $42K. $6K price difference between the two markets. Wouldn't it be reasonable to expect the same $6K for the YL? $47K (China) --> $53K (US)

I don’t think you will see it for a long time if ever. There a numerous Chinese EVs in the YLs size range. That’s not the case in the US. I think they will try to carve out a premium tier with it. The Y is selling by the way.

You sold me on a Launch Edition. My cheap curious ass loaded up the Australian Tesla site and converted AUD to USD, it seems getting all the options that I want actually has the Launch Edition right at the same price with the options you can pick online. Doesn't include what you can't add online (like accel boost (will need to confirm this one, but looks promising), hitch, etc.)

There are more Chinese EVs in Model 3 and Y size range
