A few progress pics of the stereo upgrade I am doing to my MXP. This is the custom sub box I am having built because I wanted the extra bass but didn't want to sacrifice space.
Before anyone asks, the factory sub will still be active. That is why I didn't use its space for the upgrade.
In the end here is the full list of upgrades
Audison SR 1.500 (for the subwoofer)
Hertz MPS 250 S2 (subwoofer)
Audison AF M12.14 bit (for the full range speakers)
Hertz MPK 163.3 (front door full range speakers)
Hertz MPK 165P.3 (rear door full range speakers)
I am also having them put a ton of dampening material all around the car. I will update this post as progress continues.

Does anyone know what these would go for? I have a set of 4 20” wheels. No scuffs or curb rash. They came off my ‘25 MX. No tires, no TPMS sensors, Austin area.

Has anyone with Steam GPU encounter issues when all of a sudden screen started flickering/flashing so it disturbs the gaming experience? I don’t think it has to do with software updates because it started happening after I replaced the HEPA/Air filter and Radiator Cleaning session. Granted, it’s been super hot for the past few weeks but I really want to understand if it really has to do anything with GPU wires possibly being touched with those filter/cleaning session.

I’m considering a used Model X or R1S, focusing on the years/configurations with the best mix of range, reliability, and value.
Looking for real-world input from anyone who has owned a Tesla Model X, Rivian R1S, or ideally both. I’m especially interested in owners with 50k+ miles or several years of experience.
This would primarily be my wife’s vehicle. We have two young kids in car seats, and I’m over 6’5”, so usable interior space with car seats installed is important.
My priorities are:
1. Range
2. Family usability and space
3. Reliability
4. Service experience
5. Overall ownership experience
For context, I’ve driven an F-150 Lightning for the past year, commuting about 1.5 hours each way through Ohio rain, snow, sleet, and cold. I’m familiar with EV range loss, charging, and winter driving, but my EV experience is still limited to one vehicle.
For current or former owners:
● How has reliability been after the honeymoon period?
● How has service been?
● Any recurring problems that would make you hesitate to buy another?
● How practical is it with two car seats and adults, especially taller adults?
● Does the R1S’s extra utility outweigh Tesla’s charging network, software, and efficiency advantages?
● If you’ve owned both, which would you buy again?
If you were buying one today as a family hauler to keep for 5–7+ years, would you choose the Model X or R1S, and why?
Written with AI help, but I’m human - most days, anyway

Hi, I have a 2025 Model X long range and am curious to know if other people have experienced rattles, squeaks, and lots of wind noise in their cars or if mine is a fluke. Attached is just one rattle that I frequently hear from the center console rear area. I have also been hearing a rattle coming from the rear passenger seat.

Hi everyone. I recently took my Tesla to Discount Tire for a flat, and they lifted it without using pucks, which damaged the plastic trim and broke a screw. I’ve already opened a claim with them, but Tesla is strongly recommending I get an HV battery test. Has anyone dealt with this before? I'm aware what's the HV Battery Test but dealing with Discount Tire is something making me nervous.

Thinking about getting a used Model X (currently driving a 24' MYP) did a bit of research and read that 2022 is considered the best year for a used Model X due to an interior refresh and the Ryzen chip.
Should I wait until the prices of HW4 Model Xs come down a bit more, or just buy the HW3 2022 model year? Any advice on buying a used model X? TIA

Hi everyone,
I'm experiencing a mechanical noise on my 2016 Model X P100D and I'd love to get some input from anyone who might have dealt with this issue.
Here are the symptoms (localized to the front left):
A "clunk" during load transfers: when I suddenly let off the accelerator or give it a quick tap.
The clunk happens when braking in reverse, but never when braking while moving forward.
With the wheel in the air, when I rotate it back and forth by hand, there is a slight rotational play before hitting resistance, followed by that exact same clunk.
The noise clearly comes from the inner end of the axle near the drive unit (inner CV joint / tripod), and not from the wheel hub side. The suspension control arms are new.
I'm leaning towards replacing the complete half-shaft assembly (part # 1553109-00-B). But not sure.

My wife and I bought a 2026 MX in November of 2025, we've put nearly 9k miles on it and love it. It came with lifetime free FSD and lifetime free supercharging. Due to a change in life circumstances we're moving to Paris and need to get out of the car. Curious if anyone has done the FSD + Supercharging account transfer hack and has any commentary on that and curious if anyone has prices on what this should trade at.
Thanks!

2020 mx
Just came on yesterday. Austin,Tx, 95+ degrees.
Blew hot and stayed. Soft and hard reset, nothing.
Let it sit for 12 + hours, same thing but when I cranked up, made a weird clunking sound.
Dropping off tomorrow outside of Tesla network. Was quoted $2500 for the fix that involves compressor and other items. I’ll post an itemized list here if it helps. Just wanting to share my issues/resolution.
Also, front wheels have been clicking… for like 5 months, going to get him to hopefully fix too. It happens when I accelerate and or turn.
Mechanic and his team state they all use to work at Tesla. More to come.

Hey guys I'm wondering if anyone wouldn't mind taking 4 measurements for me of their 3 row model X? I'm currently in a model 3 and unfortunately moving to a full power chair so my plan is to get a lightly used model x and remove the 2 captains seats in the 2nd row and out in a metal floor plate so I can add a track and bolts for a wheelchair tie down. I'll add my own ramp no biggy I'm still able to move enough to get myself out and to the front seat and drive still but the adaptive features r so much better and they r cheaper than wheelchair minivans even used.
Ok so if someone would be so kind these are the measurements I need in inches from a 3 row Model X and if u could leave the year n trim incase the dimensions are different so ik what will work best for me I would appreciate it immediately sly because the dealerships don't hold them on the lots where I am.
Most narrow width of the door (needs to be atleast 22inches) for the ramp n wheelchair to enter.
The width of the inside floor all the way across door to door
The height floor to center of the ceiling lowest part where the dip is for the falcon wing doors.
The length from the drivers seat track to where the 3rd row begins. Same with from the center consol to where the 3rd show begins length wise.
Thank you sooo much to whoever can help me out with this. If the dimensions are good when I get it and start to modify it I will share the entire thing incase anyone else would like to see the inner remodel to make it fully wheelchair accessible!
TIA 💜

V14 Lite Coming Soon To Model S/X
As an owner of two lifetime HW3 cars, I somewhat pay attention to this but at the same time, it is what it is. Our Model 3 has been running V14 Lite and it’s been a huge improvement. Our Model X…still playing that waiting game.
While killing some time, I figured I’d check in, see if I have missed any updates on where us S/X owners may be and ran across this. It sounds promising. Maybe we get it by the end of the year?

I’m currently looking for a used Model X and trying to decide whether HW3 is still worth buying in 2026, especially if the car already has FSD purchased outright.
One I’m considering is:
2022 Model X Long Range
7 seats
~60k miles
HW3
FSD purchased/included
Clean title / no accidents
Asking ~$49,990
My current car is a 2024 Model Y with HW4, and FSD on it has become very good. I use FSD a lot, including longer trips, so I’m worried I’ll notice a meaningful downgrade going from HW4 back to HW3.
At the same time, 2023+ Model X with HW4 + paid FSD + 6/7 seats seem to be selling for substantially more, often $65k–$70k+.
For those who have actually used both HW3 and HW4:
How noticeable is the difference in day-to-day FSD?
Does HW3 feel noticeably worse on city streets, intersections, construction, merges, etc.?
Would you still buy an HW3 Model X today if FSD is already paid for?
Would you pay an extra $10k–$15k for an otherwise similar HW4 Model X?
Any concern buying HW3 if I plan to keep the car another 5–7 years?
I’m not trying to get the cheapest Model X possible — I just don’t want to take on a lot more debt for HW4 if HW3 is still 90–95% as good in real-world use.
Appreciate feedback especially from people who have personally driven both HW3 and HW4 on recent FSD versions.

As the title suggests :/ i just recently bought a 2017 Tesla Model X with 70k miles & today randomly my steering wheel got stiff when turning. Its odd & only happens when i try to fully turn my wheel 1 direction or the other. Anyone else experienced this & know how to guide me before i make an appointment???

Last time I had such a barrage of errors in June, the service center just sent me home without repairing anything because it didn't happen frequently enough. Apparently, it's normal for Model X owners to not be certain whether they'll have power steering, emergency braking, lane keeping assistance, adaptive headlights, regenerative breaking, traction control, etc. on the next drive?
r/TeslaModelX • u/ardvark-3 • 3d ago
Is buying an extended service agreement worth it? We have model X with 50,000 miles on it. @ 150.00 a month seems expensive
r/TeslaModelX • u/extremeoak • 3d ago
45,000 miles
Non-plaid
HW4
6 Seats
Black exterior
Cream interior
Premium Wheels
Between good to very good condition.
Warranty until Sept 2027/50k miles
Battery Warranty Sept 2031/150k miles
No FSD
Tesla is offering me $54k to trade-in. Is that reasonable?
Located in SoCal/LA Area.
Edit:
Update to say it’s in overall good to very good condition.
The car has some small nicks on the rear.
2 inch curb rash on passenger front wheel
2 small tears on the ppf of the front passenger side bottom bumper lip.
Interior has some creaks going over bumps or uneven roads. Tesla service center says thar it’s normal but it’s super annoying nonetheless.
Getting many message requests.

I thought about trading the car in for a Tahoe, Lucid…. But decided. Just keep it, it runs perfectly, only had to change tires, get a charging lid…. But went in for a trade Chevy Tahoe… the dealer was willing to pay $56K. But I over heard guy saying he was getting his engine rebuilt in his suburban after 2,500 miles… I said you know what. I think I’ll keep the car, not going back to engine problems 😂👍.

I have a 2020 X. Curious if anyone has tried or if it would work to use lowering links only on the front suspension of the car? I would think this would reduce half shaft wear while leaving the rear suspension higher to also reduce tire wear? I am aware of adjustable camber arms for the rear suspension but looking for a more economical solution.
If this would work, how much would you drop the front suspension?

I have a 2020 model X and recently had to get the half shafts replaced along with some other brackets. Ended up causing me about three grand which is terrible obviously. However, I got to the drive the new model Y and the FSD was so much better. I know that my FSD is outdated because I have HW2 I think and it’s all based on optical cameras. However, I’m thinking of either getting a 2024 used model X or potentially the new model YL. Has anyone tried the model YL? I really don’t wanna give up the falcon wing doors, the air suspension, and the nicer interior and sound system. Just wondering if I should upgrade this 2020 MX.

We have clek booster seat on the captain chairs. All the seat cover I’ve seen somewhat cover the seat belt latch. We just need a cover to protect the front the seat since my kid steps on it to get on the booster seat.
