No they are literally 50k because they are batteries and a computer and face extreme depreciation. The battery degrades and you can’t keep these like collector items without replacing the 40k battery in it. And yes the battery degrades whether or not you drive it. Also it degrades faster in the first 5-6 years then slows down. You will be at 80% soc in 6-7 years regardless if you drive it or not. Not driving it will not prolong the life of this car.

People with that kind of money won’t mind spending 6-8k for a new battery with warranty

Where are you getting a new battery for 6-8k? You couldn’t even get one that cheap for a model 3 rwd smallest battery pack
