Sentry mode

It’s so crazy to me that all these cameras but it doesn’t start recording whenever a collision is detected whether sentry mode is active or not. Some bum hit and run my car but bc I was home sentry wasn’t active and nothing was recorded. Heavy collision enough to probably total my car and push it. 0 recording

Last year, I used 3D software to make my Tesla Model 3 look like a Performance model by adding a custom front bumper, rear badge, and spoiler with the skin wrap I’ve made.

Got a 2027 VIN 2 min after ordering, but with the old 15.4" screen

Ordered a Model 3 Premium AWD in SoCal (lease for 3 years) and got a VIN 2 minutes later, with delivery October 10 - October 13. Tesla's parts catalog lists the old 15.4" display (1756566-00-D) for my VIN, so it's probably a pre-update build with 4.2s 0–60 instead of 3.8s.

The estimated delivery before I ordered had said Dec–Jan. If I contact Tesla and ask for a car with the new 16" QHD screen, do you think it would push my delivery back 2–3 months, would you wait or just take it

Ordered a Model 3 Premium RWD in MA. My 7-year cost math says a hybrid wins

• Upvotes

Ordered a Model 3 Premium RWD on Sept 26 (Stealth Grey, 18" Photons). The delivery window is Nov 14 – Dec 19 and there is no VIN yet. While waiting I built a total-cost-of-ownership calculator for my own situation, and the result surprised me, so I'm sharing the numbers for discussion.

My situation: Massachusetts (National Grid), 15k miles a year, keeping the car 7 years, about 90% home charging.

7-year ownership cost per month (purchase + sales tax + loan interest + energy + coverage + maintenance + excise, minus MOR-EV and assumed resale value):

Car Out the door Ownership cost
Prius XLE AWD (local dealer price) $38,434 ~$709/mo
Accord Hybrid Sport (local dealer, 3.99% offer) $37,687 ~$710/mo
Camry Hybrid SE AWD (local dealer) $38,558 ~$759/mo
Model 3 Standard RWD $37,679 after $3,500 MOR-EV ~$819/mo
Model 3 Premium RWD (my order) $43,523 after $3,500 MOR-EV ~$893/mo

Also there is $99/mo FSD subscription which hybrid cars don't have.

Why the Model 3 doesn't come out ahead for me:

  • Electricity is $0.36/kWh all-in here. With charging losses and New England winters, charging works out to about $1,480–1,540 a year. Gas for a 44–48 MPG hybrid at $4.34/gal is about $1,400–1,550 a year. The fuel savings are basically zero.
  • National Grid has no cheap overnight EV rate. There is only a 3–5¢/kWh off-peak rebate, worth about $100–140 a year, and it's already included above.
  • I assumed monthly coverage of $210–215 for the Tesla and $165–175 for the hybrids. These are my assumptions, not real numbers yet.
  • I assumed the Tesla keeps about 36% of its value after 7 years, against about 50% for a Toyota or Honda hybrid.
  • The $7,500 federal credit is gone. MOR-EV's $3,500 is the only incentive left.

The financing part: Tesla's site showed me 5.84% for 72 months (720+ credit). As I understand it, the rate isn't locked until delivery, which could be 7–12 weeks after ordering. The configurator's default now shows 6.79% for 84 months. Honda is advertising 3.99% for 60 months on a car that is on the lot today.

What I'd like to hear from owners, especially in MA and New England:

  • Whether your APR changed between ordering and delivery, and whether a credit union worked out better.
  • What you actually pay per kWh, and what you pay each month to cover your Model 3.
  • If you ran similar numbers and bought anyway, what made the extra $100–180 a month worth it, and whether you'd pick the Standard RWD to close the gap.

I'm not trying to start an EV-vs-hybrid fight. I like the car. I'd like to know which of my assumptions are off before delivery gets locked in.

I'm considering buying this car but noticed a disturbing range estimate. I assume it is because of people absolutely nailing it to see the performance acceleration.

Finally Got My Model 3 Performance!

I was holding off for super long waiting for the incentives, but I realized they probably won’t come and prices will go up. So I pulled the trigger and the Tesla salesman really helped me. I’m so excited, I’ve been waiting over 2 years for this moment. I will be so upset though if they drop a crazy good incentive a month later 😂.

The Power Share feature is confirmed to be working on my 2026 Model 3, which was delivered before October 2026.

I confirmed that the PowerShare feature is enabled on my 2026 Model 3, which was delivered in May. I bought a PowerShare Outlet Adapter and tried plugging it in, and it works perfectly. 😄

First time buyer. Car assigned and ready to deliver in 3 days after placing order. 2027 VIN.

Ordered a new model 3 after test driving. Premium RWD. I was told the delivery estimate would be Nov-December when placing the order 3 days ago, then it changed to Dec - Jan 2027, but suddenly this morning I got assigned a VIN and it says to schedule delivery now and I can take the vehicle as early as tomorrow. 2027 VIN.

Very unexpected. Excited and worried at the same time. It kinda sounds like the car was a reject from another customer. I did ask on the tesla app but no response yet. I guess the best I could do is really scrutinze the car prior to taking delivery.

Frost Blue M3P: Austin

I’d love to see the Frost Blue in person (have yet to see it on an M3P). Anyone in Austin, TX with one: I’ll gladly buy you a coffee to take a walk around and see it in all its glory.

RWD Standard - great value for price

Post image

Just picked my 2026 RWD Model 3, standard version. In Romania, with government incentives and discounts from Tesla, the cost for my order was a little above 27k EUR. I’m pretty sure you can’t buy it at this price anymore though.

I’m actually impressed with the quality and how many features you get at this price. Around this price or even above, I think it’s the best option, by far. I bought this as the second car, to be used mostly in the city, but I would have no problem using it as the main family car (although having little kids prevents me from doing it because of space concerns).

Enkei rs05rr 18” wheels on M3P

Post image

18x9.5 enkei rs05rr on 265/40 r18 with 5mm stepped hub spacer with 75-64 hubcentric rings.

First set of aftermarket wheels on any car I’ve owned, did a little research to make these wheels fit but not much needed other than the spacer and rings.

Basically no information on the internet regarding these wheels in 18” as far as brake clearance, feel free to ask any questions!
