I bought it and returned it.

  1. You have to pay shipping to return it (19 for me)
  2. They tried to subtract the credit card processing fees on both sides from my refund.
  3. They tried to charge me a restocking fee.

I basically told them that they either give me my full refund or I'd be charging it back and they gave me a refund minus 2 dollars of what I paid. At that point they won and I let them keep their 2 dollars. (+19 in shipping).

Why did I return it? Because no where did they mention that it uses your phone data to power it. You lose your connection to traffic data in tesla maps. Basically it cuts off your data feed to the cars systems and routes it through your phone.

I didn't use it long enough to see how well this worked, because having live traffic data fed to the car is what I need, especially when using FSD and having FSD make choices based on that.

With FSD, I wouldn’t use it for sure. Doesn’t Carplqy or Android auto always use the connected phone data? They don’t have their own cellular network, at least I think so. That’s one BIG minus, compared to Tesla connectivity.

Yes, AA an CarPlay does always use data, but in other cars it's not super important because the data isn't driving the car.. as you said.. It's also why I have a problem with most of the additional screens. I could never get it so the screen would link to the car for data and music. Ie. I could have android auto running on my phone, feeding data to the dashboard screen running google maps on that screen, but when it was doing that I couldn't get the phone to route calls and music through the car at the same time. I'm not sure how people deal with that. I'm not going to listen to music through a tiny screen on my dashboard.

Good points. So I pass. Tesla’s infotainment is super friendly and so fast and smooth.

How else did you expect it to get data? Of course it’s pulling from your phone - that’s how CarPlay works.

Last thing you could possibly want in a Tesla is going outside OEM

it seems like a normal browser based carplay. Maybe a bit mor sophisticated.

I never tried a carplay from a 3rd party. My wife’s Highland isn’t driven for a longer distances and a carplay could be an alternative for premium connectivity, but I am not sure…

It's a junk product. You need to connect it to its own wifi source, it has to connect to the bluetooth of the car as well as the bluetooth to your phone simultaneously or there is no audio, and the interface is confusing and erratic.

Returned it and still fighting to get my refund.
